Turbo-Tainted Hot Rod Prediction Princess Pt.1
Deck Primer
Turbo-Tainted Hot Rod GT19 is a Level 3 FIRE Machine Flip Monster whose effect reads "FLIP: You can declare a Level from 1 to 9; this card becomes that Level until the end of this turn." On a new line of text, it continues: "After this card has been flipped face-up, during any Main Phase (Quick Effect): You can target 1 other face-up monster on either field; immediately after this effect resolves, Synchro Summon 1 monster using only this card and that target." You can only use 1 of these effects per turn and only once that turn. Despite being released in DABL alongside the Prediction Princess Legacy Support, it is not really a great Flip Monster to play in Prediction Princess or really any Flip Monster Deck. This is because of its "1 effect per turn and only once that turn" clause, which causes a massive clash between its 2 effects. Its Flip Effect changes its Level from 1 to 9 until the end of the turn and its non-Flip Monster Effect on the field allows you to target 1 other face-up on the field to Quick Synchro using it and this card. But that means that you cannot modulate Hot Rod's Level and Quick Synchro with it on the same turn. Instead, you are pretty much forced into using it as a Level 3 Tuner that can Quick Synchro with another face-up monster on either field. This begs the question: What is the point of its Flip Effect if it cannot modulate its Level and Quick Synchro in the same turn?
The second issue of Hot Rod has to deal with maths. Imagine playing the Level 7 Kuibelt the Blade Dragon and the Level 11 Juraishin, the Cursed Thunder God in your Extra Deck as your Hot Rod payoffs, but your opponent is playing Goblin Biker, a Deck with primarily Level 3's and some Level 6's. The numbers don't add up here, and such is the case in most games. So, you are better off not relying on your opponent to provide you with monsters of the correct Levels. It is much better to Quick Synchro using Hot Rod targeting one of your Level 9 Prediction Princess monsters to make a Level 12 Synchro Monster. In reality, this is fine since Snake-Eyes Vengeance Dragon exists and it is a damn good Level 12 Synchro, but it further reduces the potential applications for Hot Rod. It can modulate its Level, but it cannot Quick Synchro in the same turn. It can Quick Synchro using your opponent's monster, but there is a significant chance that the Levels of their monsters +3 do not add up to the Levels of the Synchro Monsters you are playing. Therefore, while Hot Rod is a cool and possibly even fun card to play, it is much worse than its Fusion-orientated "counterpart" of Summoner of Illusions, which gets significantly buffed each time a good Fusion Monster that it can Special Summon gets released (For example: Starving Venom Fusion Dragon of the Four Heavenly Dragons and Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, the God-Surpassing Servant).
There are (4) conditions that a Synchro Monster must meet to be on this list. (1) The Synchro Monster MUST be able to be Synchro Summoned using Hot Rod. This means generic Level 4 through Level 12 Synchro Monsters, including ones that either require a FIRE or Machine Tuner. (2) The Fusion Monster must provide some kind of immediately beneficial effect, whether it is interruption, protection, or having a solid ability to survive through removal on your opponent's turn to benefit you next turn. (3) Monsters whose only real useful effects are ones that activate in GY, that trigger when the Synchro Monster leaves the field, or that modulate ATK/DEF or deal burn damage do not count. (4) I am avoiding monsters that require a greater degree of archetypal investment to use their effect (Ex: Playing P.U.N.K. monsters and/or Level 3 Psychics for Ukiyoe-P.U.N.K. Amazing Dragon or playing an Emblema card for Centur-Ion Primera Primus).

LEVEL 4 SYNCHRO MONSTERS (Turbo-Tainted Hot Rod GT19 + a Level 1 Monster)
Toxic Boxfish can target and banish a card from either GY on Synchro summon. Also, if it is banished, it can target and negate the effects of a face-up card your opponent controls for the turn. Usually, you are only ever going to be using that first effect, but being able to Quick Synchro using your opponent's Level 1 monster and then having the ability to then immediately banish it from GY is kind of nice. But you could banish any card from their GY really.
Merry Melffys can target and bounce a card on field back to hand on Synchro Summon. Again, coupling this card with Hot Rod, having Quick Synchroed with your opponent's Level 1 monster, makes for good interruption. Sadly, you don't benefit from its effect to bounce itself back to Special Summon a Melffy Xyz Monster, but it is still a nice and cute card.
LEVEL 5 SYNCHRO MONSTERS (Turbo-Tainted Hot Rod GT19 + a Level 2 Monster)
Hi-Speedroid Hagoita can Tribute itself during either player's turn to increase the Levels of all monsters currently on the field by 1 until the end of the turn. Hagoita is just Mischief of the Gnomes for all monsters currently on the field when it activates its effect. As the only Level 5 Synchro applicable here, it's not completely an outlandish choice as it can definitely mess up Xyz or Synchro Decks that need the correct Levels.
LEVEL 6 SYNCHRO MONSTERS (Turbo-Tainted Hot Rod GT19 + a Level 3 Monster)
Metaphys Horus can activate certain effects on Synchro Summoned based on the non-Tuner used for its Synchro Summon. In this case, using a non-Tuner Effect Monster allows you to target and negate the effects of one other face-up card on the field. Actually not that bad as it just needs Hot Rod to target a Level 3 non-Tuner.
Brionac, the Magical Ice Dragon can discard a card on Synchro Summon to target and bounce a card on field back to hand. Also, if it is Special Summoned from GY, it can also discard a card to target and bounce a card on field back to hand. Brionac, the Magical Ice Dragon is really cool. You get to benefit from using Hot Rod's effect to make it, from its on-Synchro effect, and if you have a World Legacy Succession or any method to Special Summon a monster back from GY, you can bounce yet another card.
Vulcan the Divine, on Synchro Summon, can target a face-up card you and your opponent controls to return both targets to hand and you cannot activate cards/effects of cards with the same name as the cards returned to hand by this effect for the rest of this turn. Unless you are bouncing something of yours back to hand for you to use again next turn, Vulcan is going to be bouncing itself, which makes Brionac, the Magical Ice Dragon the better card usually.
Rciela, Sinister Soul of the White Forest can send a Spell/Trap from hand or field to GY on Special Summon to add a White Forest or a LIGHT Spellcaster from Deck to hand. 99% of the time, you are using Rciela to seach for Effect Veiler, which is good. You could also search for Performapal Five-Rainbow Magician, Dominusteer Rosepamela, Dogmatika Lawbringer, or Dogmatika Fleurdelis, the Thunderbolt, which aren't necessarily better than Veiler or more optimal to play, but they are still things you could search and play if you are crazy enough.
Silvera, Wolf Tamer of the White Forest can change all face-up monsters your opponent controls to face-down Defense Position if it is Special Summoned. Hey, if a Turbo-Tainted Hot Rod just needs to target a Level 3 monster to Special Summon basically an Ultimate Conductor Tyranno (in effect only), that's pretty good.
Hyper Psychic Riser prevents monsters with less ATK than it from attacking and prevents either player from activating effects of face-up monsters with more ATK than it while it is face-up on the field. It's not nothing, which is to say it is definitely something. If you can make it work, have at it, but Hyper Psychic Riser's value is still all hypothetical at this point.
Adamancipator Risen - Raptite can Quick Effect target and banish a card from your opponent's GY during their turn if you have a WIND monster in GY. You could Droll & Lock Bird your opponent, discard Mulcharmy Fuwalos at the start of your turn going first, or use Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill on your opponent to put a WIND in GY for Raptite to be able to use its effect. Not the greatest thing ever, but Raptite is technically the only Level 6 Synchro we can make with any form of GY interaction.
LEVEL 7 SYNCHRO MONSTERS (Turbo-Tainted Hot Rod GT19 + a Level 4 Monster)
Cyberse Quantum Dragon, while you control a Link Monster, prevents your opponent from targeting other monsters you control for attacks or with card effects. This is basically the same protection effect that Cyberse Clock Dragon has. Like, it is a fine monster with a fine effect, but you could just Summon Enneacraft - Asta.PIXEA instead.
Clear Wing Synchro Dragon can Quick Effect negate and destroy the activation of another Level 5 or higher monster's effect on field. Also, it can Quick Effect negate and destroy the activation of a monster effect that targets a Level 5 or higher monster on the field. The issue with Clear Wing is that if you already have Deus X-Krawler on field, both of Clear Wing's effects can conflict with Deus-X's effect. But also with how specific both of Clear Wing's effects are, it would probably be better to use something else.
Kuibelt the Blade Dragon can target and destroy a card on field on Synchro Summon. While this is a really simple effect, being able to destroy a card on field in addition to having already removed a Level 4 monster from field is quite nice.
PSY-Framelord Zeta can Quick Effect target an Attack Position Special Summoned monster your opponent controls and banish both itself and that monster from field, returning them during the next Standby Phase. While it is a bit specific, I really like this effect, specifically because it can get around monster effects that would trigger say if they were destroyed and/or sent to GY. Not to mention, it is quite effective at dealing with a good amount of Link Monsters in the game since they can't be in Defense Position.
Black Rose Moonlight Dragon, on Special Summon or when a Level 5 or higher monster(s) is Special Summoned to your opponent's field, targets and returns a Special Summoned monster your opponent controls to hand. Please keep in mind that this effect is mandatory, and if you happen to Special Summon Moonlight Dragon while your opponent controls no Special Summoned monsters, it will trigger and then resolve without effect, wasting its hard once-per-turn effect. So, if you want to use Moonlight, you need to time it correctly.
Wind Pegasus @Ignister which, unlike Golden Cloud Beast - Malong, can use its effect while on field or in GY. If another card(s) you control is destroyed by battle or an opponent's card effect while Wind Pegasus is on field or in GY, you can banish it to target and shuffle a card your opponent controls into the Deck. If it stays on field until your turn, it can also pop a Spell/Trap your opponent controls. Not the most optimal thing you could be Summoning, but it still meets the criteria to be on this list.
Maple Maiden can declare an Attribute on Special Summon to give itself the effect to change all face-up monsters on the field to that Attribute (as a Continuous Effect). If your opponent’s Deck is Attribute-reliant, this is a nice way to interfere with them just like DNA Transplant might. But if she makes it back to your turn, you can also use her other effect which targets a monster in your opponent’s MMZ to force them to send a card from the adjacent Monster Zones or Spell/Trap Zones to the GY.
F.A. Dawn Dragster can Quick Effect reduce its Level by 2 to negate and destroy your opponent’s activated Spell/Trap Card or effect. Effects like this are always welcome.
Shooting Riser Dragon can, on Synchro Summon, send a monster with a lower Level than itself from Deck to GY to reduce its Level by the sent monster’s Level (but you cannot activate the effects of monsters with the same name as the sent monster for the rest of the turn), and during your opponent’s Main Phase, you can Quick Effect Synchro Summon using it. Shooting Riser is the card that Hot Rod seems to be trying to imitate if it weren’t for its “1 effect per turn and only once that turn” clause. Shooting Riser is actually really good. After you make it with your opponent’s Level 4 monster, you can send a Level 4 (i.e. a Mulcharmy), a Level 5 (i.e. Probably Shaddoll Beast), or a Level 6 monster (i.e. Like a Bystial or something) from your Deck to your GY to be able to access Level 10, Level 11, and Level 12 Synchro Monsters when you Quick Synchro using it and one of your Level 9’s.
Clear Wing Synchro Dragon of the Four Heavenly Dragons, if Special Summoned, can destroy 1 Effect Monster your opponent controls and gain ATK equal to that monster’s original ATK. Also, when your opponent activates a card or effect, you can Quick Effect Special Summon a Level 4 or lower WIND Tuner from your hand or GY (with its effects negated) and then immediately Synchro Summon a WIND Synchro Monster. An on-Special Summon non-targeting pop is pretty decent, but I want to focus a bit more on that second effect. The Synchro Monsters it can access that do something on your opponent’s turn are Stardust Dragon, Stardust Spark Dragon, Stardust Dragon - Victim Sanctuary, Cyber Slash Harpie Lady, Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon, Stellar Wind Wolfrayet, and Virtual World Kyubi - Shenshen. Unfortunately, the only WIND Tuner’s I ever played in a Prediction Princess Deck are Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill, Mecha Phantom Beast O-Lion in Scrap Prediction Princess, and Dragunity Remus, Dragunity Corsesca, and Dragunity Brandistock in Dragunity Prediction Princess. So, if we consider Ghost Mourner as the WIND Tuner we are most likely using and potentially having in rotation, we can only access Level 10 WIND Synchros, which either need specific materials or are banned (I'm talking about Baronne de Fleur). So, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon of the Four Heavenly Dragons, unless you are playing Hotrod in either Scrap Prediction Princess or Dragunity Prediction Princess is just an on-Special Summon non-Targeting pop.
LEVEL 8 SYNCHRO MONSTERS (Turbo-Tainted Hot Rod GT19 + a Level 5 Monster)
Adamancipator Risen - Dragite can Quick Effect negate and destroy your opponent’s activated Spell/Trap Card or effect while you have a WATER monster in your GY. Compared to Raptite, you have more ways of putting a WATER monster in GY than a WIND monster. I frequently play Ib the World Chalice Justiciar and Ravenous Crocodragon Archethys in Prediction Princess, which are both WATER monsters. You are more likely to have a WATER for Dragite than a WIND for Raptite, and Dragite’s effect is arguably better.
Draco Berserker of the Tenyi can, when your opponent activates a monster effect, Quick Effect banish that monster. If it makes it back to your turn, it has a 3000 ATK Stat along with the ability to gain ATK equal to the original ATK of a monster it destroys by battle and sends to GY and then be able to attack another monster. Just a really good monster to make on your opponent’s turn for interruption, and it can provide you with further benefit if it remains on the field by the time your turn comes back around.
Enigmaster Packbit can, if it is Synchro Summoned or sent to the GY, target a monster in your GY or a face-up monster your opponent controls to discard a card and place that monster in its owner’s S/T Zone as a face-up Continuous Trap. While it does need a discard for cost, it is a very neat form of removal that gives us some leeway for when we want to be activating its effect. It triggers on Synchro Summon or if sent to GY, which means you can immediately use Packbit’s effect on Synchro Summon or wait to Link it off with I:P Masquerena or get it off the field in some other way to then use its effect.
PSY-Framelord Omega can, during the Main Phase, Quick Effect banish itself from field and a random card from your opponent’s hand face-up until your next Standby Phase. Omega in this context just snipes a card from your opponent’s hand for a turn. Unless you are hitting a key card all the time, best Omega can do is recycle cards with its GY effect.
Gold Pride - Eradicator can Quick Effect target a Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, or Link Monster on the field during your opponent’s turn and destroy it. Or, if your LP are lower than your opponent’s you can do 2 instead. But, you must return Eradicator to the Extra Deck during the End Phase as a mandatory effect even if you don't have a Gold Pride - Eliminator in your Deck. Eradicator sounds good at first, but then you have to realize that it only gets rid of an Extra Deck monster. Your opponent has to get to an Extra Deck monster, usually under Deus-X, before you can even use Eradicator’s effect. So, even as good as it sounds, the situation will dictate how good Eradicator actually is.
Askaan, the Bicorned Ghoti, if Synchro Summoned, can target a Fish you control (i.e. usually itself) and a card your opponent controls and banish them. Askaan is actually really good. It is a good form of proactive removal, and I guess if you somehow put some Fish into rotation previously, you can banish 1 from GY to bring back Askaan as well.
Cyber Slash Harpie Lady can Quick Effect target and return a monster your opponent controls or 1 Harpie monster you control to hand when a Spell/Trap card or effect is activated. While it is a reactive effect to a Spell/Trap Card or effect, the effect in itself is still good for interruption, albeit dependent on what Deck your opponent is playing.
Stardust Dragon can Quick Effect negate an activated card or effect that would destroy a card(s) on field by Tributing itself to which it can Special Summon itself back from the GY during the End Phase. Unless your opponent didn’t start their turn by activating their board breakers that would destroy cards on field, I don’t think that Stardust will be doing too much considering that we are only getting it out if your opponent puts a Level 5 monster on their field for Hot Rod to Synchro with.
Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon can Special Summon a Level 2 or lower Tuner from your GY on Synchro Summon and can Quick Effect tribute itself during the Main Phase to Special Summon Stardust Dragon from your Extra Deck (as a Synchro Summon) and then immediately Synchro Summon using monsters you control as material and monsters Synchro Summoned by this effect are unaffected by your opponent’s activated effects for the rest of the turn. A.S.S. Dragon is a bit precarious. First, you need to have already gone through a Level 1 or 2 Tuner previously, which is usually only the case in Synchro-focused Prediction Princess Decks. Second, you will usually not have the board space for both A.S.S. Dragon and the Tuner it brings back at the same time, which is an issue.
Stardust Spark Dragon can Quick Effect target a face-up card you control to prevent it from being destroyed by battle or card effects once this turn. It could be something better.
Buster Dragon changes all monsters your opponent controls to Dragons. I guess Buster Dragon could floodgate certain Type-reliant Decks in the same fashion as DNA Surgery, but you’d probably still want to Synchro Summon something that accomplishes a little more.
Diabell, Queen of the White Forest can Quick Effect send a Spell/Trap from hand or field to GY when your opponent activates a card or effect to Special Summon a Level 7 or lower Synchro Tuner from Extra Deck, GY, or banishment. She’s just A.S.S. Dragon but better since you are getting any Synchro Tuner from Extra Deck, GY, or banishment (save for the Level 8 or higher ones), which includes the ones with Quick Synchro effects. You are much more free to choose what Level of Tuner you are getting, which translates to being more free in what you are then able to Quick Synchro into. But, Diabell still suffers from the lack of board space in the same way A.S.S. Dragon did.
Stardust Dragon - Victim Sanctuary can Quick Effect Tribute itself when your opponent activates a card or effect in response to your card/effect activation to negate and destroy that card/effect. Also, if it is in the GY and a monster(s) in your possession was Tributed this turn, you can Quick Effect banish it to Special Summon a Stardust Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck. Technically, it does meet the requirements to be here. It’s better when made going first than being made on your opponent’s turn, at least for Prediction Princess that is. Its GY effect is a free Stardust Warrior, but you need to have Tributed a monster this turn, usually by its first effect.
