Turbo-Tainted Hot Rod Prediction Princess Pt.2
Deck Primer

Turbo-Tainted Hot Rod GT19 is a Level 3 FIRE Machine Flip Monster whose effect reads "FLIP: You can declare a Level from 1 to 9; this card becomes that Level until the end of this turn." On a new line of text, it continues: "After this card has been flipped face-up, during any Main Phase (Quick Effect): You can target 1 other face-up monster on either field; immediately after this effect resolves, Synchro Summon 1 monster using only this card and that target." You can only use 1 of these effects per turn and only once that turn. Despite being released in DABL alongside the Prediction Princess Legacy Support, it is not really a great Flip Monster to play in Prediction Princess or really any Flip Monster Deck. This is because of its "1 effect per turn and only once that turn" clause, which causes a massive clash between its 2 effects. Its Flip Effect changes its Level from 1 to 9 until the end of the turn and its non-Flip Monster Effect on the field allows you to target 1 other face-up on the field to Quick Synchro using it and this card. But that means that you cannot modulate Hot Rod's Level and Quick Synchro with it on the same turn. Instead, you are pretty much forced into using it as a Level 3 Tuner that can Quick Synchro with another face-up monster on either field. This begs the question: What is the point of its Flip Effect if it cannot modulate its Level and Quick Synchro in the same turn?
The second issue of Hot Rod has to deal with maths. Imagine playing the Level 7 Kuibelt the Blade Dragon and the Level 11 Juraishin, the Cursed Thunder God in your Extra Deck as your Hot Rod payoffs, but your opponent is playing Goblin Biker, a Deck with primarily Level 3's and some Level 6's. The numbers don't add up here, and such is the case in most games. So, you are better off not relying on your opponent to provide you with monsters of the correct Levels. It is much better to Quick Synchro using Hot Rod targeting one of your Level 9 Prediction Princess monsters to make a Level 12 Synchro Monster. In reality, this is fine since Snake-Eyes Vengeance Dragon exists and it is a damn good Level 12 Synchro, but it further reduces the potential applications for Hot Rod. It can modulate its Level, but it cannot Quick Synchro in the same turn. It can Quick Synchro using your opponent's monster, but there is a significant chance that the Levels of their monsters +3 do not add up to the Levels of the Synchro Monsters you are playing. Therefore, while Hot Rod is a cool and possibly even fun card to play, it is much worse than its Fusion-orientated "counterpart" of Summoner of Illusions, which gets significantly buffed each time a good Fusion Monster that it can Special Summon gets released (For example: Starving Venom Fusion Dragon of the Four Heavenly Dragons and Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, the God-Surpassing Servant).
There are (4) conditions that a Synchro Monster must meet to be on this list. (1) The Synchro Monster MUST be able to be Synchro Summoned using Hot Rod. This means generic Level 4 through Level 12 Synchro Monsters, including ones that either require a FIRE or Machine Tuner. (2) The Fusion Monster must provide some kind of immediately beneficial effect, whether it is interruption, protection, or having a solid ability to survive through removal on your opponent's turn to benefit you next turn. (3) Monsters whose only real useful effects are ones that activate in GY, that trigger when the Synchro Monster leaves the field, or that modulate ATK/DEF or deal burn damage do not count. (4) I am avoiding monsters that require a greater degree of archetypal investment to use their effect (Ex: Playing P.U.N.K. monsters and/or Level 3 Psychics for Ukiyoe-P.U.N.K. Amazing Dragon or playing an Emblema card for Centur-Ion Primera Primus).

LEVEL 9 SYNCHRO MONSTERS (Turbo-Tainted Hot Rod GT19 + a Level 6 Monster)
Virtual World Kyubi - Shenshen banishes any card that would be sent from field to GY. Also, during the Main Phase except during the turn it was sent to GY, you can banish 2 monsters with different original Types and Attributes from each other to Special Summon it from GY. Shenshen is pretty good, especially alongside Deus X-Krawler. Double the floodgates means double the odds of your opponent surrendering to your BS. Not to mention, it can bring itself back if necessary on the turn in which it was not sent to GY.
Lightstorm Dragon can target Spell/Traps on the field on Special Summon up to the number of Normal Monsters in your GY +1 and destroy them. Having some Spell/Trap removal is pretty good. Not a very exciting card though. But at least it can deal with a Spell/Trap while Deus-X deals with your opponent’s monsters’ effects on their field.
Navy Dragon Mech, on Synchro Summon, targets face-up cards your opponent controls up to the number of Tuners in your GY and negates their effects until the end of the turn. This is at least negating the effects of 1 card, which is pretty nice. But that does depend on your opponent putting non-Monster Cards face-up on their field as their monsters’ effects are already being covered by Deus-X. In a situation where that is the case, then Navy Dragon Mech is very welcome to lend its aid.
Stellar Wind Wolfrayet gains 300 ATK each time another monster’s effect resolves while it is under 4000 ATK. And if its ATK is 4000 or higher, you can shuffle it and all monsters your opponent controls into Deck. While Wolfrayet wasn't a great card in the first place, its effect does conflict heavily with Deus-X's effect, so it might not be a great Summon off of Hot Rod.
Ravenous Crocodragon Archethys draws a card on Synchro Summon for each non-Tuner used for its Synchro Summon and it can also Quick Effect discard 2 cards to target and destroy a card on field. Pretty nice. You get to draw a card and then you can Quick Effect discard 2 to pop a card. It is a simple enough effect, but still very good. However, unless you are hurting for that draw or a Quick Effect pop, even at the cost of 2 discards, Ekhajar, Descendant Dragon of the Ice Barrier is going to outclass this card every time.
Ashtraja Susanoo can banish any number of Traps from your GY on Synchro Summon to banish that many cards on the field. Potentially getting multiple non-targeting banishes of any card on the field is really good, but the downside here is that we are going to be doing this in Prediction Princess. You might not always have any Traps in GY to banish at all. Maybe an Infinite Impermanence or two, but usually there aren’t any Traps in rotation in most Prediction Princess Decks for any to realistically be in GY.
Ekhajar, Descendant Dragon of the Ice Barrier, if Synchro Summoned, can discard a card to banish 2 cards from your opponent’s field and/or GY. Also, if your opponent Special Summons a monster(s), you can banish a card from your hand to return a card in either field or GY to the hand. FURTHERMORE, if it was Synchro Summoned and sent to the GY during your opponent’s turn, you can banish 1 card from your opponent’s hand (randomly), field, or GY. I don’t think I need to explain how good this card is. This card is by far the best for interruption out of the Level 9 Synchro Monsters here.
LEVEL 10 SYNCHRO MONSTERS (Turbo-Tainted Hot Rod GT19 + a Level 7 Monster)
Ruddy Rose Dragon can banish all cards from both GYs on Synchro Summon. You are probably not going to be making this card with a Black Rose Dragon or a Plant Synchro Monster since you would have to be up against Rose Dragons for that to happen, so the rest of this effect is not relevant. Ruddy Rose really depends on the match-up, and you are subject to banishing your second copy of Underworld Ritual of Prediction from your GY, which can hinder some of your potential follow-up.
Fabled Levilazebul can Quick Effect Tribute any number of Fabled monsters during the Main Phase (i.e. usually just himself) to take control of an equal number of your opponent’s face-up monsters, but their effects will be negated. Again, while you will be depending on your opponent to give you a Level 7 monster, Levilazebul being able to steal a monster is pretty nice all things considered. I think out of all of the Synchro Monsters I've mentioned so far, Levilazebul is the only one with an effect to yoink a dude.
Swordsoul Supreme Sovereign - Chengying pumps its ATK/DEF by 100 for each banished card and your opponent’s monsters lose 100 ATK/DEF for each banished card. If Chengying would be destroyed by card effect, you can banish a card from your GY instead and if a card(s) is banished you can banish a card from both your opponent’s field and GY. Chengying is just a good monster to wall-up on, that is, if your opponent feeds you a Level 7 monster. But, it is a really big monster who cannot be easily outed who can also provide some removal if a card(s) is banished (doesn't matter who does the banishing).
LEVEL 11 SYNCHRO MONSTERS (Turbo-Tainted Hot Rod GT19 + a Level 8 Monster)
Juraishin, the Cursed Thunder God, ignoring its LP gain effect, can Quick Effect pay 1500 LP and tribute itself during your opponent’s turn to either destroy all face-up monsters your opponent controls or destroy all face-up Spell/Traps your opponent controls. Even if it is the only Level 11 here, it is still great interruption.
LEVEL 12 SYNCHRO MONSTERS (Turbo-Tainted Hot Rod GT19 + a Level 9 Monster)
Centur-Ion Legatia can draw a card if it is Special Summoned and then you can destroy the monster your opponent controls with the highest ATK. And it also makes your monsters with 2000 or less ATK be battle-immune, so Prediction Princess Tarotreith and Deus-X are nicely protected in that aspect. Legatia is geuinely not a bad Level 12 Synchro Monster to be making with Hot Rod, and it was the best Level 12 to make prior to Snake-Eyes Vengeance Dragon. But, you'd probably want to make Vengeance Dragon over Legatia most of the time just because it covers much more ground than Legatia does.
Snake-Eyes Vengeance Dragon can Quick Effect target a face-up monster on the field or in either GY during the Main Phase to place it face-up in its owner’s S/T Zone as a Continuous Spell, but you cannot use this effect next turn. But what you can do during the Battle Phase next turn is Quick Effect target a monster and a Continuous Spell on field and destroy them. Vengeance Dragon is THE BEST monster to grab off of Hot Rod PERIOD. Unlike Centur-Ion Legatia, Vengeance Dragon can affect a monster that's either face-up on the field or in the GY while also providing a great additional form of removal on your next turn if it makes it past your opponent's turn.
Superheavy Samurai Brave Masurawo can have you draw until you have 3 cards in your hand when your opponent activates a Spell/Trap Card or effect. While nice, Prediction Princess Bibliomuse's Flip Effect is already going to be addeding a Prediction Princess monster and a Ritual Spell from your Deck to your hand on your opponent's turn, which is 2 cards in your hand already, not yet counting the cards you still have in your hand after passing turn. Masurawo usually isn't drawing you much or even anything most of the time, but it still is a 4000 DEF wall/beater since it has the Superheavy Samurai deal of being able to attack in Defense Position using its DEF for damage calculation.
HONORABLE MENTIONS These are the Synchro Monsters that technically do something on your opponent's turn and Hot Rod can make them, but they are either specific, need to be paired with certain cards, are not great in the context of this Deck and/or the deck-building, or they need specific Attribute or Types of non-Tuners.
Poplar of the White Forest (Level 4), Crystron Quandax (Level 4), Garden Rose Flora (Level 5), Accel Synchron (Level 5), Desert Locusts (Level 6), Horned Brute Carnovorus (Level 6), and Saiba the Fighting Swordsmith (Level 7) are Synchro Tuners that can Quick Effect perform a Synchro Summon on your opponent's turn. I want to mention them because of how a fellow Quick Synchroing Synchro Tuner, Shooting Riser Dragon, is a very good Summon off of Hot Rod. Unlike Shooting Riser Dragon, these guys cannot modify their Level and also must your your own monsters as material (not your opponent's like Hot Rod), so they are more or less useless unless you have a monster with a small enough Level to make something worthwhile. The majority of your board will be Level 9 monsters, which none of these monsters can Synchro with.
Old Entity Cthugua returns all Rank 4 Xyz Monsters on field to the Extra Deck on Synchro Summon. You are making this card by using Hotrod’s effect targeting, most likely, your opponent’s Level 1 monster. What Rank 4’s are they going to have? Just make Merry Melffys or Toxic Boxfish man.
Aromaseraphy Rosemary, if you gain Life Points, must target a face-up card your opponent controls and negate its effects until the end of the turn. How are you actively going to be gaining LP on your opponent's turn in Prediction Princess. Hot Rod already made this, not Juraishin, the Cursed Thunder God, and you probably didn't flip up Summoner of Illusions to grab GMX - ALLOS or GMX - VELOX either.
Red Wyvern, if there is a monster with ATK higher than this Synchro Summoned card on field, you can destroy the monster on field with the highest ATK on field during either player’s turn. Unless your opponent is getting a monster with higher than 2700 ATK out onto the field, Red Wyvern will be popping your own Prediction Princess Tarotrei . And while getting a high ATK monster out onto the field is not an issue in most Decks, it is certainly an issue when Deus-X is on the field.
Gold Pride - Star Leon can Quick Effect target a face-up monster your opponent controls during the Main Phase to gain ATK equal to the target’s original ATK and then if your LP are lower than your opponent’s, you can destroy that monster. Unlike Gold Pride - Eradicator, the useful part of this effect requires your LP to be lower than your opponent’s. There are a decent amount of Prediction Princess Decks that lower your Life Points, usually ones with a Predaplant engine to search out Instant Fusion, but all of that for Star Leon? You are better off with a different Level 6 Synchro Monster off of Hot Rod.
Arionpos, Serpent of the Ghoti can banish a Level 6 or lower Fish from your Deck on Synchro Summon. This banishes Zep, Ruby of the Ghoti who Special Summons itself back after being banished and immediately Synchro Summons a Fish Synchro Monster. This gives you access to either White Aura Whale, which destroys all your opponent’s Attack Position monsters on Synchro Summon, or Askaan, the Bicorned Ghoti, which already has been spoken for. Besides being really cool, this is either Askaan access through using your opponent’s Level 3 monster or destroying all your opponent’s Attack Position monsters, but you need to have Zep in your Deck, which might be something you don’t want to be doing.
Orient Dragon must target a Synchro Monster your opponent controls and banish it on Synchro Summon. Other than having an otherwise stereotypic Eurocentric name for Asian people in its name, Orient Dragon's issue is that it is very specific removal. Your opponent has to have put a Level 3 on the field for Hot Rod to Synchro with and they also need a Synchro Monster to be on their field at the same time because Orient Dragon's effect is both on-Synchro Summon and mandatory.
Rage Rose Witch can send up to 1 Plant monster each from your Deck and Extra Deck to the GY on Synchro Summon. The only application I can see it having is sending Predaplant Chimerafflesia from Extra Deck to GY and then using its GY effect during the next Standby Phase to search for Miracle Synchro Fusion for Coordius the Triphasic Dealmon, any generic Fusion Spell to make Guardian Chimera, or Super Polymerization for board-clearing. Interesting, but probably not the most ideal, even for follow-up.
Penguin Brave can Special Summon 1 Penguin monster from your Deck face-down on Synchro Summon and then when your opponent activates a monster effect, you can Quick Effect flip a face-down WATER monster you control face-up. Nightmare Penguin, Penguin Ninja, and Penguin Soldier are neat cards, but you just don't have the board space in this Deck.
Psychic Omnibuster I don’t want to write out this stupid effect, so either just read the card or I can sum it up to you as Ordeal of a Traveler combined with Appointer of the Red Lotus. Nevermind that Omnibuster needs non-Tuner Psychic monsters as material. This effect just drains your LP to play a guessing game where you are most likely whiffing.
Clear Wing Fast Dragon can Quick Effect target a face-up monster your opponent controls that was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck to change its ATK to 0 and negate its effects until the end of the turn. It needs non-Tuner WIND monsters as material, but because it also negates a monster’s effect on field, it’s gonna clash with Deus-X's effect.
Zalen the Shackled Dragon can, when a card or effect is activated in response to the activation of a card or effect, Quick Effect either negate that effect and destroy that card or negate the effects of the card that was responded to and destroy that card. As cool as Zaren is, it is not generic as it requires 1+ Synchro Monsters as materials in addition to a Tuner.
Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon can, during the Main Phase, Quick Effect banish itself until the End Phase to Special Summon Fallen of Albaz or a Level 4 or lower monster that mentions it from Deck or GY. The best monsters this card can access are Fallen of Albaz, The Bystial Aluber, Guiding Quem, the Virtuous, and Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous. Ignoring the GY effect, unless you have some sizable Branded package in the Main Deck, you are better off Main Decking 3 copies of Super Poly.
Ashtraya Mikumari-no-Mikoto , if Special Summoned, can send 1 Asutra card from Deck to GY and then send a card on field to the GY. Yeah, it needs archetypal cards, but a non-targeting send is really good. Makes it more playable than other Synchro Monsters with effects that require archetypal cards since it is an easy requirement to fulfill, but not something you usually want to be doing with Hot Rod.
Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon can Quick Effect negate the activation of another monster’s effect and destroy that monster, also, it gains ATK equal to that monster’s original ATK until the end of the turn. It needs non-Tuner Synchro Monsters, and considering the Level, there aren't that many Level 5 non-Tuner Synchros running around unless its Synchron.
Groza, Tyrant of Thunder can Quick Effect target an Effect Monster on field during your opponent’s Main Phase to discard a monster and negate that monster’s effects until the end of the turn. Groza does require non-Tuner Fiend monsters as material, but it also negates the effects of an Effect Monster on field, which isn’t necessary with Deus-X around.
Power Tool Braver Dragon can equip up to 3 Equip Spells with different names from your Deck and/or GY to it on Special Summon and it can also Quick Effect send 1 Equip Spell equipped to it to the GY during the Main Phase to target an Effect Monster on field and either change its battle position or negate its effects for the turn. First, you need to Main Deck Equip Spells, which is kind of a big ask for Prediction Princess. Second, negating an Effect Monster on field clashes with Deus-X.
Adamancipator Risen - Tiamite can Quick Effect excavate the top 5 cards of your Deck when your opponent activates a monster effect on field and return cards your opponent controls to the hand up to the number of excavated Rock monsters, placing the excavated cards on the bottom of the Deck in any order. I can think of 3 Rock monsters I would play in Prediction Princess: Pot of The Forbidden, Tohushaddoll Grysta, and Nibiru, the Primal Being. Tiamite is just not consistent enough considering the lack of Rocks.
Kewl Tune B2B increases the Levels of your opponent’s monsters by 1 and when your opponent activates a monster effect, you can target a Tuner in your GY or banishment (except for a Level 10 Tuner), and either add it to hand or Special Summon it. Afterwards, you can immediately perform a Synchro Summon if you want. B2B is held back for our purposes because it needs 1 Tuner + 1+ Synchro Monsters as material. Otherwise, it is great as a floodgate and possibly for also recycling a Tuner handtrap.
Chaos Angel can target and banish a card on field if Special Summoned, and it gains effects based on the original Attributes of the materials used for its Synchro Summon. LIGHT monsters make your Synchro monsters unaffected by your opponent’s activated monster effects. DARK monsters make monsters you control battle-immune. Unfortunate that my rules put it down here, but it is what it is. Still very playable nevertheless since LIGHT and DARK monsters are everywhere.
Satellite Warrior, on Synchro Summon, can target and destroy cards your opponent controls up to the number of Synchro Monsters in your GY (i.e. at least 1 because of Herald) and then it gains 1000 ATK for each card destroyed. The non-Tuner Synchro Monster requirement for Synchro Materials is placing a lot of good monsters here I'm seeing.
Swordsoul Sinister Sovereign - Qixing Longyuan , if your opponent Special Summons a monster(s), can banish 1 of those monsters and inflict 1200 damage to your opponent. Also, when your opponent activates a Spell/Trap Card or effect, you can Quick Effect banish that card and inflict 1200 damage to your opponent. Long story short: this card needs one of the 6 non-Tuner Level 7 Wyrm monsters in the game (2 of which are Extra Deck monsters).
Masterflare Hyperion can Quick Effect banish a Fairy from hand or GY and target a card on yield when your opponent activates a card or effect to banish the targeted card. Masterflare Hyperion requires non-Tuner Fairy monsters. There are 23 Level 7 Fairy monsters in the game and only a select few are playable in certain Decks, and because of that, you are probably better off making some other Level 10 Synchro Monster with Hotrod.
Commander Souza, Swordmaster can, when your opponent activates a card or effect, Quick Effect Tribute an X-Saber monster (i.e. itself) to destroy 1 card your opponent controls. Souza needs non-Tuner EARTH monsters, which isn’t too bad of a restriction, but it is still why he's here in the Honorable Mentions and not above.
Bystial Dis Pater can Quick Effect target and shuffle a banished card into Deck when your opponent activates a monster effect. If you shuffled that card into your Deck, that monster is destroyed, and if it was shuffled into your opponent’s Deck, that activated effect is negated. It needs non-Tuner Dragons, which is why it is here.
Storm-Bane Dragon Destorbim cannot be targeted by your opponent’s card effects and also you can banish any number of DARK monsters from your GY that cannot be Normal Summoned/Set and banish that many cards your opponent controls. This becomes a Quick Effect if your opponent controls more cards than you do. Since all of your available Monster Zones are going to be filled in Prediction Princess, Destorbim isn't going to be a Quick Effect, which effectively makes it useless on your opponent's turn.
Psychic End Punisher, if Synchro Summoned, is unaffected by your opponent’s activated effects while your LP are less than or equal to your opponent’s. Once per turn, you can pay 1000 LP to target a monster you control and a card your opponent controls to banish those cards. Also, it can pump its ATK equal to the difference between your LP and your opponent’s LP at the start of the Battle Phase. PEP is in a similar situation to Gold Pride - Star Leon. While there are a decent number of Prediction Princess Decks that pay Life Points, you are rarely ever paying that many Life Points. So, your opponent still has ways to more easily deal with PEP than if it was Summoned in a Deck that actually drained your LP a lot. PEP is even worse than Star Leon in this case because it has nothing it can do on your opponent's turn other than potentially being an unaffected wall and you still need your LP to be lower than your opponent's for that to be the case.
