Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
A guide to Shining Sarcophagus Dogmatika Magician Girls
Welcome to the show of the century, where I present a one-of-a-kind magical act. Before continuing, I will address a few matters. For starters, this deck can likely be improved by dropping the Magician Girl theme, as they kinda suck as an archetype. I choose to use them over the other Dark Magician support, as I find them more fun to use. Another thing is that I run a lot of search cards with very few targets. I’m the type of guy who prefers to get my main combos online as fast as possible. If my starters end up being potential bricks, well, that’s the price I pay for instant gratification. To make a long story short, this deck can be optimized, but in it’s current form, it is meant to exist as something unique and (hopefully) amusing to whoever faces against it.
Deck Master: Dark Magician Girl, The Magician’s Apprentice
What I love about her is that she’s easy to summon and if you draw into either Dark Magician the Magician of Black Magic or Gandora G the Dragon of Destruction, you can really bring the pain.
The combo is as follows:
0) With either Dark Magician the Magician of Black Magic or Gandora G the Dragon of Destruction in hand...
1) Summon Dark Magician Girl, The Magician’s Apprentice
2) Search Shining Sarcophagus and activate it
3) Search either Dark Magician the Magician of Black Magic or Gandora G the Dragon of Destruction, whichever is not in your hand.
4) Special summon Dark Magician and Gandora
5) Gandora wipes the field (WARNING: you’ll lose half your Life Points)
6) Gandora special summons a (likely strong) Silent Magician Zero, which provides spell negation
7) Dark Magician revives himself and searches Secrets of Dark Magic
8) Use Secrets of Dark Magic to fusion summon Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon
Don’t forget that you still have your normal summon, which means you can freestyle a bit.
Overall, not a bad combo. You get two negators and some guaranteed direct attacks if everything goes through. Another note about the Deck Master is her discard to summon effect. I added as many cards as I could that can be useful even when discarded such as Lost Wind and Magicians’ Defense. I don’t think the White Forest cards work when discarded as a summoning requirement, however.
The Magician Girls
Like I said Magician Girls are kinda terrible as an archetype. They only really work if your opponent doesn’t read them and just rams into them without thinking. I’d say the only really standout cards are Berry, who is a great search card, Kiwi, an amazing handtrap and protector, and… Perfomapal Sky Magician Girl. The last monster is certainly the weirdest, especially with her AI generated sounding effect.
Weirdly, she works, and can be special summoned if you go through with the Shining Sarcophagus combo. When she is summoned, you can send Performage Trick Clown to the GY and summon it back. Following this, you can work on Link climbing, or just using your bodies for whatever seems useful. Another note is that I included Skullcrobat Joker as another way of searching Sky Magician Girl, since if you use either that or Berry as a searcher, it’s an easy Selene.
Blazing Cartesia Combo
Here’s another combo that packs quite a punch. You start it by playing Blazing Cartesia, which can be searched out through cards like Summoner Monk and Guiding Quem. Once you follow all of these steps, you will have access to a few beefy bodies as well as access to Shaddoll Winda as a floodgate.
1) Summon Blazing Cartesia
2) Fusion summon Granguignol the Dusk Dragon
3) Use it’s effect to send El Shaddoll Apkallone to the GY
4) Use Apkallone’s effect to search for Shaddoll Schism
5) Activate Schism during an opponent’s turn, summoning El Shaddoll Winda
6) Optionally, if the conditions are appropriate, you can use Granguignol’s effect to banish it and summon Despian Luluwalilith for a negate, boost, and potential search
The Rest of the Deck
Surprisingly, there isn’t that much to say about the remaining cards. For the most part, it’s just good stuff that just works with Spellcasters. There are also Dogmatika cards, and they kinda just do their own thing. Overall, this deck is just a weird collection of cards that mainly functions due to small archetypal overlaps. These commonalities resulted in a surprising amount of synergy.
Another note is the Dark Magician support. I only used as much as I considered to be necessary in the deck, preferring to focus on the main theme of Magician Girls. Should more Magician Girl support ever come out, I may end up dropping some things from this engine.
One more thing to consider is how this deck can change in the future. If, theoretically, there were support that would force the opponent to attack your Magician Girls and other monsters, I could see Yubel as a worthwhile addition to the deck. Only time will tell how this deck may change.
