Pure Maliss (August 2025)

AUGUST UPDATES

Droll & Lock Bird, Allure of Darkness, and Maliss C TB-11 were replaced with Dominus Impulse, Heavy Storm, and Harpie's Feather Duster. Droll & Lock Bird isn't good in this Maliss-dominated meta. Allure of Darkness was okay, but I want to test a heavier hand trap count. Maliss C TB-11 was replaced because the utility it provided was not worth the risk of drawing it over generic disruption. Maliss P White Rabbit setting Maliss C MTP-07, then activating MTP-07 to search for Maliss P March Hare could accomplish the same task as setting TB-11 to build your board. Dominus Impulse is cracked in every deck that could play it. Heavy Storm and Feather Duster help break the rare stun decks I encountered while climbing the ladder, but they can be replaced with the Bystials when the meta shifts. 

I tried replacing Mulcharmy Fuwalos with Super Polymerization to break boards when going second, and also have some disruption if I go first. Super Poly was not better than drawing more cards or ending turns prematurely though, so Fuwalos stays.

I also thought about replacing Infinite Impermanence, but decided not to because it's still a good blanket check for most decks on the ladder except Maliss. Most notably, it can negate Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess and Chaos Angel, check Baronne de Fleur, and make your Dominus Impulses more deadly by fulfilling its requirement for a trap in your graveyard. I might cut some copies for other hand traps though.

Lastly, the extra deck was updated with more generic support. Dharc the Dark Charmer, Gloomy is great for the mirror match, Knightmare Phoenix can theoretically break difficult boards, but I haven't used it yet, and Super Starslayer TY-PHON - Sky Crisis is a great going-second card that can shift games back into your favor.
