Ryu-Gay

2nd draft Ryu-Ge deck.

When going first you need to draw into a way of getting to Mistva or War Zone else your plays are effectively zero, so you'll need to open one of the following: Melody of Awakening Dragon, Ryu-Ge Rising, Terraforming, and the copies of Mistva and War Zone themselves. All together that is 13/41 cards, or around 1/5 of the cards in the deck so your chances aren't too bad but the deck really lives and dies by this.

Going second, you will still need to open Mistva or War Zone ideally, but Ultimate Slayer can sometimes help with this. Slayer to send Herald can get you Mistva, but this relies on your opponent playing Synchro monsters, which at the time of writing this, is only really White Forest, Crystron and Blue-Eyes, and Blue-Eyes can stop slayer by ending on Azure Eyes. Slayer to send Bucephalus can allow you to send Garura against Links, and you can also simply send Garura against Fusions to draw a card, but that hardly guarantees you'll draw a starter.

Deck can play through ash blossom so long as you have Anva, but if your opponent opens multiple handtraps, it ain't looking too good. Can play through Nib by getting into Varudras on 5th summon (usually) and imperm doesn't do anything mid combo but can be really annoying if saved for the endboard (can force out Varudras negate on opponents turn or turn off Kaiva negate).

Lastly always remember War Zone locks you into Wyrms, Dinosaurs, Sea Serpents and Dragons.
