I tried, and failed; the newer Water support isn't really doing much for the deck as a whole, and I'm not the best duelist / deckbuilder.
Let's face it : in the face of the ever-growing meta, (mostly pure) Icejade can't really keep up. Not like it had a chance in the first place, but you get the point. When combined with the other archetype, the difference in contribution is so great, you better off playing it without trying to implement Icejade's main strategy. However, as my favorite archetype, I will keep experimenting to find the most stable and optimal play / deck while keeping it's member present, keeping in line with, and putting it's general line of play and what makes the deck unique at the forefront.
As such, here's what I've been cooking lately : mish-mash from some of the Icejade variants, powered by Aegirine's depression, Diva adding a card to your opponent's hand, random shark doing their best, some love and care, and finally, a brick made of ice. By channeling Aegirine's rage towards Longyuan, this decklist adopts an all-out attack strategy for when the situation doesn't allow a Lock. We're pushing head on, the same way she jams Aegirocassis straight into Golgonda-Longyuan. The GY revival Icejades have been reduced (I'm so sorry Acti), and Kingfisher is not here (tbf, nver used him again once Rahn hits MD).
My previous Icejade Deck can be found at : https://ygoprodeck.com/deck/metajade-334563, as a small refresher before this guide.
================== The Cradle
--Main Deck Highlights :
Icejade Aegirine (39354437) : Searches any 1 Icejade S/T upon summon, this includes Icejade Cradle (55343303), meaning you can add any Icejade monster through her. Special summon a Water Monster from hand or GY when targeted for attack or effect, then cannot be destroyed once. Girl watches the whole Icejade family die and single-handedly enables the archetype. Your normal summon #2.
Deep Sea Diva (78868119) : One card to build the Twin Tower Board. Special summons Guitar Gurnards Duonigis (79724755) which in turns banishes your opponent's deck; This is Important to scout out your opponent's deck and determine which synchro you should summon. Your ideal normal summon #1.
Abyss Shark (61496006) : One card ticket for our supporting XYZ play. Adds either Crystal Shark (98881700), which can be special summoned from the hand or GY at the cost of locking into XYZ, or Dream Shark (6180710), which can also act as an emergency body to tank an attack or effect damage. Unfortunately, we have no way to add him in a consistent way without using our already reserved normal summon.
Crystal Girl (93169863) : Discard target that can be special summoned back from GY to add 1 Level 5 or higher Water from deck at end phase. Use her to extend your board, as she can be used as material for either Marincess Coral Anemone (79130389) or Adamancipator Risen - Dragite (9464441) depending on the situation. Add either Icejade Kosmochlor (3355732) to prepare a lock at your next turn, or Icejade Creation Aegirocassis (1295442) to quick effect equip.
White Sardine (98684051) : Used in conjunction with Deep Sea Aria (72060415) to add Deep Sea Diva (78868119) into your hand without using your normal summon. In an emergency, the treated as Tuner effect can be used to summon Adamancipator Risen - Dragite (9464441) together with any of the sharks when summoned by Marincess Coral Anemone (79130389).
Icejade Kosmochlor (3355732), Icejade Cenote Enion Cradle (7142724) & Icejade Curse (83670388) : The Icejade's core lock. You might be wondering why the deck only use 1 of each if they are so important. That's because on their own, every one of them is a brick. An Icebrick, if you may. Cenote at 2 is still viable, however, due to it's recycle effect upon activation.
--Extra Deck Highlights :
Deep Sea Prima Donna (50793215) & Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon (30983281) : Two option to go with Diva and Guinard. After banishing your opponent's deck, you can decide wheter it's safe to go into Prima Donna; ADDING 1 OF THOSE BANISHED CARD INTO YOUR OPPONENT'S HAND in order to summon Aegirine (smol) from deck, or summons Accel Synchro to go into either Gymir or Chengying (maybe Baronne if you add her).
Adamancipator Risen - Dragite (9464441) : The third option with Diva and Guinard. This is for when you might need something to deal with backrow decks after seeing the opponent's banished card. Luckily, we can summon him with other cards, but it's a bit hard to get them all on field.
N.As.H. Knight (34876719) : Extra interruption to succ your opponent's monster. We XYZ him into his pilot in order to summon Number C101: Silent Honor DARK (12744567) and hopefully go for the win with the extra succ, or go into Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder (90448279) in an emergency.
Worldsea Dragon Zealantis (45112597) : Your Plan B. Field wipes all non-Water after Marincess Coral Anemone (79130389) restriction. Unfortunately, you're always going to need 3 body to summon him. Summoning him means only two things : You are desperate and need the final push to close the game, Or you are seriously fcked. Literally no in-between.
--Side Deck / Extra Plays :
Some cards are not yet available on MD yet.
Surfacing Big Jaws (55697723) & Drake Shark (81096431) : You can add Big Jaws via Abyss Shark (61496006), then add Drake from the summon effect. I use this to summon Bahamut Shark (440556) to summon Xyz Armor Torpedo (94151981) in order to go into the Full Armored Dark Knight Lancer (67630394) line.
Mermail King - Neptabyss (69385019) : Extra layer of protection and interruption that can be summoned for a full board of him, Gymir, Bahamut, & Armored XYZ follow-up if you open with Aegirine (smol) & Abyss-Shark + 1 spare Icejade/Water.
================== The Wall
At most, we're going to have 4 scenario going foward, No.1-3 takes off at turn 1; as in we go first :
1. Icejade Wall
The deck's winning condition, and Icejade's signature strategy. Shutting down Your Opponent (not the monsters) from activating effects of monsters depending on the turn they are summoned. When you managed to set this up, you (most of the time) won, except against backrow-focused deck or when they have an out to commit some backrow hate against you.
-- The fabled Icejade Lock is made possible by putting together Icejade Cenote Enion Cradle (7142724) & Icejade Curse (83670388) + 1 Icejade, preferably Icejade Kosmochlor (3355732), in doing so, you locked out your opponent from activating their monster effects, ruining nearly all of their combos,and possibly winning you the game after a long bout of silence and confusion from your opponent. HOWEVER, this lock is Ice-thin for it's Jade-like-quality (lmao), easily broken by removing either Icejade Cenote Enion Cradle (7142724) or the Icejade body from your board, nulling any advantages you have and probably costing you the game instead. Which is why I propose The Complete Lock, Or as I called it : The Icejade Wall
-- Your normal lock setup + Icejade Erosion (53742162) and one extra Icejade body (Either Aegirine (smol) or Gymir is ideal) completes the lock and turns it into a formidable wall, at which your opponent are helpless against. The negate from erosion should be used to PROTECT THE WALL AT ALL COST, even if that cost is blasting away Gymir and reuniting her with her family.
2. Twin Tower : Gymir - Chengying & Shark Support
Summoning Icejade Gymir Aegirine (86682165) and Swordsoul Supreme Sovereign - Chengying (96633955), backed up by N.As.H. Knight (34876719) to halt your opponent's offensive. Three interruption that cannot be destroyed by card effects or banished (once Gymir resolves), although keep in mind that Chengying's banish most of the time follows-up from Gymir's, so it's more of a 2.5 interruption. You will be playing around this board most of the time.
-- As we have no way of searching Abyss Shark (61496006), Nash support are not as consistent as the Twin Tower, but can prove game-changing when it hits the field.
-- Do note, in order to summon both Gymir & Chengying using Deep Sea Diva (78868119) alone, YOU WILL BE PUTTING ONE OF YOUR OPPONENT'S BANISHED CARD INTO THEIR HAND and I cannot stress this hard enough, YOUR OPPONENT IS GOING +1 from your line. Of course, if you opens with and could summon Icejade Ran Aegirine (18494511), you can avoid the +1 scenario.
-- Going against backrow decks, prioritize putting Adamancipator Risen - Dragite (9464441) instead of Swordsoul Supreme Sovereign - Chengying (96633955).
-- Icejade Gymir Aegirine (86682165) Should always be summoned, prioritize her before Chengying except for when you need Dragite more.
3. BrickJade
When a handtrap interrupts you, the last thing to do is hope your opponent bricked as well. At most scenario, best you can do most of the time is a solo Gymir on the board; Worse is a single Deep Sea Diva (78868119) in Attack Position. Consider the surrender button as your option.
-- Priority of Aegirine (smol) search : Cenote / Curse (If either is on hand) >>> Cradle (no Rahn) > Erosion (No Lock, Yes Rahn) = Cenote (Kosmochlor, Yes Rahn; otherwise go for Erosion) > Manifestation (No Lock, Yes Rahn; go second).
-- When unable to put any meaningful board, Aegirine (smol) alone can serve as a good deterrent due to her targeted effect, but don't count on it too much.
4. Second to Go
Either you open with Icejade Cenote Enion Cradle (7142724) and Icejade Kosmochlor (3355732), shutting down you opponent's monsters, handtraps your opponent enough to stop their board, or you try to go into the Twin Tower. If resources are plenty and opponent's interruptions none, Worldsea Dragon Zealantis (45112597) is also a viable way foward. The addition of Sharks can also opens up direct interruption from the XYZ's sucky succ effects.
==================
As always, mix and match to suit your style. As the number of new cards increases, I'll try to experiment more in order to find the best way foward for this archetype.
Happy Dueling~
