Edison Format Tutorial: Vayu

Welcome, Duelists!!

This deck is intended to function as a tutorial-deck for Yu-Gi-Oh Edison!
Important: This list is intended for new players of Yu-Gi-Oh who have played other card games before, such as Pokémon or Magic the Gathering.

For new players:

> Your gameplan is to send as many cards as you can from your Deck to your Graveyard <

> Many of your monster cards have special graveyard-specific effects that will help you win the game, such as Vayu, The Emblem of Honor and Plaguespreader Zombie <

> Use Synchro Summoning and your infinite resources to outlast your opponent! <

For Advanced players:

With you as a friendly guide, this deck aims to help your friends get a hang of the base mechanics of Yu-Gi-Oh, with the goal of eventually making them comfortable enough to jump into modern.

Their gameplan is simple: Mill. You may need to tell them which cards are good to mill and why, but at least a few will be self-explanatory, such as Necro Gardna. Ideally, since they have prior knowledge of other card games, they should be able to figure out when to hold their resources and when to (over)extend for the win.

A chunk of the cards here search the the deck in some way (Armageddon knight, Grepher, Hamster, Charge), so ideally, this will help them get into the habit of searching the deck often and choosing search targets based on their situation (something which can be a bit more uncommon in MTG's Commander, for example). This might already be second-nature to them, in which case that's already a good sign.

The removal options in this deck skew towards chainable cards (3 Compulse instead of the more commonly ran Dimensional Prison) instead of battle traps, as battle-traps have been phased out in modern Yu-Gi-Oh. It's not optimal, but it gets them into the habit of planning when to use their interaction, instead of just treating them as on-attack reaction cards.

The extra deck is a bit complex in this case, and you might have to help them if they get confused. Still, it's a pretty good baseline for what is to come when they eventually try out modern Yu-Gi-Oh.
