(Update-I: Huge revision has arrived! You can draw relatively easily thanks to Synchro Monsters and other new cards.)
(Update-II: Removed some of SR/UR cards without disrupting the plan to make it more budget friendly. You can maximize the draw power coming from Extra Deck even more. No need to limit yourself with "Rank-Up-Magic Astral Force". Plan is still the same!)
(Update-III: There is a new way to win with Number 88. Have a look by clicking here!)
Hello there. In this deck, I would like to show you how to win with "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" by skipping your opponent's turn twice via "Neko Mane King". By taking three turns in total, you can place 3 Destiny Counters and win the duel. Let's have a look at it, so that you can understand the gameplan better:
- Before starting up, it would be for your benefit to read through what I call "Synchro Chain Train", where you can Synchro Summon monsters in a successive order to draw your deck...
1) If you open up with Monk >>> Panda, this is how you can play with...
- Assuming that you have always spells to draw, this is how: Monk + Tuner = Librarian >>> Tuner + Non-Tuner = Formula >>> Formula + Non-Tuner = Martial >>> Martial brings Formula >>> Formula + Non-Tuner = Integrator >>> Martial + Integrator = Stardust >>> Stardust (Tuner due to Martial) + Non-Tuner = Ancient >>> Ancient pulls Level 1 Tuner >>> Ancient + Tuner = Accel >>> Accel pulls Formula >>> Formula + Non-Tuner = Shamisen >>> Shamisen + Non-Tuner = Cthugua >>> Bring Shamisen back onto the battlefield and shuffle Formula >>> Shamisen + Non-Tuner = Cthugua >>> Cthugua + Cthugua = Number 60 >>> Draw four cards with Number 40!
- Assuming that there is a chance you might brick, this is how: Monk + (Tuner + Non-Tuner = Formula) = Stardust >>> Stardust + Tuner = Ancient >>> Ancient pulls Panda/Monk to continue the chain with Librarian and other Synchro monsters.
2) If you start only with Panda, this is how you can play with:
- Tuner + Non-Tuner = Formula >>> Formula + Non-Tuner = Martial >>> Martial brings Formula >>> Formula + Non-Tuner = Integrator >>> Martial + Integrator = Stardust >>> Stardust (Tuner due to Martial) + Non-Tuner = Ancient >>> Ancient pulls Panda/Monk to continue the chain with Librarian and other Synchro monsters.
- Now, I can share with you some tips and tricks to guide this deck for the greater good:
- Ancient Fairy Dragon: Special Summons Level 4 or lower monster from your hand. If you didn't start with "T.G. Hyper Librarian", you can pull Panda/Monk to Synchro Summon Librarian later on. If you already have Librarian present, you can pull out level 1 dudes.
- Martial Metal Marcher: Acting as extender, you need to Special Summon "Formula Synchron" with Martial. Then, Formula + Exodia = Integrator. Next up is Integrator + Martial = Stardust Charge Warrior to draw 2 cards in one shot. You can follow up with Ancient >>> Accel later on.
- Number 88 - Gimmick Puppet of Leo: Previous version of this deck used to have 2 x "Apprentice Illusion Magician" to XYZ Summon "Jinzo - Layered", followed by "Rank-Up-Magic Astral Force" to bring forth Number 88. While it's still a valid choice, I didn't like limitations coming from Astral Force, so I decided to use Accel+Linewalker+Maximus.
- After you have used "Allure of Darkness" and "Moray of Avarice" on level 1 dudes, you can refresh your charges for Panda with "Pot of Acquisitiveness". If you have banished Yajiro, you have to target him no matter what.
- After you've Special Summoned Number 88, use his ability to place first Destiny Counter. More will be explained, so keep reading.
- If you have done everything right, which was explained above, this is the final setup for the combo:
- First, trigger the ability of Number 88 to place first Destiny Counter. Then, set "Give and Take" and "Powerful Rebirth" and end your turn.
- The order of sequence really matters. If you do it in reverse, you can't place first Destiny Counter because your Spell and Trap Zone isn't empty.
- Don't forget to discard Yajiro+Neko in-hand at the end of your turn.
- On your opponent's turn (Draw Phase), activate "Powerful Rebirth" to target Neko first and "Give and Take" to target Yajiro as second. Put Yajiro into 3rd column or he will detonate himself. As for Neko, let it be in 4th column, so that Yajiro can kill Neko to skip your opponent's turn. Look at the pictures for better understanding or start watching from 11:10 for clearance:
- To activate any trap even during Draw Phase of your opponent, change "Activation Confirmation" to "Switch+Hold" and set to "ON" in-game. You can edit to "Switch+Hold" in "Duel" section of settings page.
- Right now, the battlefield should look like this:
- As mentioned previously, in order to trigger Number 88 again to place second Destiny Counter, don't set "Powerful Rebirth" to 5th column just yet. First, use Number 88 and then, set "Powerful Rebirth" and end your turn. Do it in reverse and you will lose the game for sure.
- Just like before, activate "Powerful Rebirth" on your opponent's turn (Draw Phase). Then, Special Summon "Neko Mane King" to the 5th column and let Yajiro kill Neko to skip your opponent's turn.
- It's your turn now. Trigger Number 88 for the third and final time to place third Destiny Counter.
- Congratulations, you win the duel!
As always, here is how you can acquire some of those cards in the deck and their related packs to save up some SR and UR points:
- "Neko" + "Pot of Acquisitiveness" can be found within "Legacy Pack". Hope you were lucky to have them. Thus, 60 SR saved!
- "Allure of Darkness" can be found within "The Infinite Void" Secret Pack to save 90 SR!
- "Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo" can be found within "Colossal Mech" Secret Pack to save 30 UR!
- "Formula Synchron" can be found within "Stardust Ties" Secret Pack to save 90 SR!
- "Dogmatika Maximus" can be found within "Echo Chamber Nation" Secret Pack to save 30 SR! "Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End" can be considered as cheaper alternative which costs R to craft. However, you need to banish 2 monsters -1 LIGHT + 1 DARK- instead of only one Extra Deck monster, be careful with that.
- "Number 60: Dugares the Timeless" can be found within "Number Recall" Secret Pack to save 30 SR!
- "Pot of Avarice" can be collected by purchasing "Re-Contact Universe" deck. 90 SR saved and you can try a new deck!
- "Wonder Wand" and "Spellbook of Knowledge" can be collected by purchasing "Spellbook of Prophecy" deck. 120 SR saved and you can try a new deck!
- "Link Bound" is given for free, if you've picked "Link Generation". Thus, 30 SR is saved!
So, in total, you can save up to 540 SR and 30 UR, if you are willing to spend some gems. Other SR and UR cards I didn't mention are essential.
That's all for this one. Let me know if you have any questions and have fun in Master Duel!
