(Credit to DuelSphere for explaining the basics of Pendulums. Much appreciated!)
(Update-I: Updated the deck for better performance. Utilize Twin Twisters + Ravenous to deliver three Pendulums to Extra Deck from Pendulum Zones, rather than just usual Pendulum Summon tactics. Although Purple Armageddon won't be used, I kept the guide as-is, to explain fundamentals of Pendulums.)
The universe is smiling upon you. D/D/D monsters are your best friends, which will grin with a devilish smile and send your opponent to Shadow Realm. Let's get cooking.
Gameplan
- Before we start, it would be for your benefit to read through what I call "Synchro Chain Train", where you can Synchro Summon monsters in a successive order to draw your deck...
1) If you open up with Monk >>> Panda, this is how you can play with...
- Assuming that you have always spells to draw, this is how: Monk + Tuner = Librarian >>> Tuner + Non-Tuner = Formula >>> Formula + Non-Tuner = Martial >>> Martial brings Formula >>> Formula + Non-Tuner = Integrator >>> Martial + Integrator = Stardust >>> Stardust (Tuner due to Martial) + Non-Tuner = Ancient >>> Ancient pulls Level 1 Tuner >>> Ancient + Tuner = Accel >>> Accel pulls Level 1 Tuner >>> Accel + Tuner = Ravenous >>> Ravenous + Tuner = Nirvana
- Assuming that there is a chance you might brick, this is how: Monk + (Tuner + Non-Tuner = Formula) = Stardust >>> Stardust + Tuner = Ancient >>> Ancient pulls Panda/Monk to continue the chain with Librarian and other Synchro monsters.
2) If you start only with Panda, this is how you can play with:
- Tuner + Non-Tuner = Formula >>> Formula + Non-Tuner = Martial >>> Martial brings Formula >>> Formula + Non-Tuner = Integrator >>> Martial + Integrator = Stardust >>> Stardust (Tuner due to Martial) + Non-Tuner = Ancient >>> Ancient pulls Panda/Monk to continue the chain with Librarian and other Synchro monsters.
- Here is the evil plan:
1) Reach the situation as illustrated in those pictures below:
- In those three pictures, I have showcased how to Pendulum Summon 2 x Armageddon. For those who don't know, I have placed Han-Shi on the left and Amazoness on the right. Han-Shi has a scale of 9 and Amazoness has a scale of 7. In between those numbers but not including 7 and 9, we can Pendulum Summon Armageddons. Reason is that between those scale numbers except themselves, we can Pendulum Summon monsters that fit Level wise. Armageddons are Level 8 monsters, so we have pulled them off out of hand no problem.
- Monsters from hand has to be summoned in Main Monster Zones. In addition, if we had, let's say Blue-Eyes White Dragon (Level 8), we could also be able to Pendulum Summon it. So, Pendulum Summon isn't exactly exclusive to Pendulum typed monsters when pulled out of hand, as long as you meet the Level criteria and doesn't mention "Cannot be Special Summoned" in card text itself because Pendulum Summon is considered as Special Summoning. When you form the scales, you can just pull out monsters which fit between those scales level-wise.
- If there were Pendulum Monsters placed face-up in Extra Deck, there would be two outcomes to also bring them forth alongside monsters pulled out of hand:
- If there is no Link Monster, you have to place only one on "Extra Deck Zone".
- If there are Link Monsters that point any Monster Zones, you can only place those face-up Pendulum Monsters to where arrows point to. I'm saying Link Monsters because in theory, there can be maximum two Link Monsters placed in a way that you can pull out at most four Pendulum Monsters placed as face-up in Extra Deck, which is what we will do to OTK with "Smile Universe".
2) Play "Polymerization" to bring forth "Purple Armageddon":
- I need to clarify a thing or two regarding multiple types of Pendulum Monsters and other rulings:
- You might say I could have used "Polymerization" without Pendulum Summon but if I did that, those Pendulum Monsters would have been sent to GY straight, instead of face-up Extra Deck like usual.
- Although not in this deck, if you try to experiment with XYZ Pendulum Monsters, know that materials used for XYZ Pendulum Monster will be delivered to GY straight up. Whether they are Pendulum Monsters or not, anything within XYZ monster will go to GY. However, if XYZ Pendulum monster itself was either destroyed or used as Link material, it will go to Extra Deck as face-up. Give it a try with D/D/D Super Doom King Dark Armageddon, you will see what I mean.
- Also, you can switch Level rule with Rank one for Pendulum Summoning explained in #1. As long as the monster in question has a Rank between the scale values except the values themselves, you can still bring XYZ Pendulum monster placed in Extra Deck as face-up but you have to obey the placement rules like usual.
3) Link Summon in a way that you can deliver "Purple Armageddon" and "Nirvana High Paladin" to Extra Deck as face-up:
- Depending on the situation, you could also use "Baba Barber" but I used "Triple Burst Dragon".
4) Link Summon Saryuja by using Triple + Panda as Link materials to free up all of Main Monster Zones. Then, play "Monster Reborn" to place Triple as illustrated below:
- Also, set "Smile Universe" and "Bad Reaction to Simochi". I think it's clear that we will convert healing into damage to OTK our opponent.
5) First, activate "Smile Universe". Then, "Bad Reaction to Simochi" to place all four Pendulum Monsters placed in Extra Deck as face-up to bring happiness to your opponent and yourself:
- To activate all traps even during Draw Phase of your opponent, change "Activation Confirmation" to "Switch+Hold" and set to "ON" in-game. You can edit to "Switch+Hold" in "Duel" section of settings page.
- You can watch the deck in action by clicking here!
If you wonder how to save up some SR and UR points, I can show you:
- "Monster Reborn" is given for free, if you have played tutorial. What a good start to save up 30 UR!
- "Pot of Avarice" can be collected by purchasing "Re-Contact Universe" deck. 90 SR saved and you can try a new deck!
- "Ravenous" + "Pot of Acquisitiveness" can be found within "Legacy Pack" to save 60 SR!
- "Into The Void" + "Allure of Darkness" can be found within "The Infinite Void" Secret Pack to save 180 SR!
- "Number 60" can be found within "Number Recall" Secret Pack to save 30 SR!
- "Formula Synchron" can be found within "Stardust Ties" Secret Pack to save 60 SR!
- "T.G. Hyper Librarian" can be found within "Futuristic Creatures" Secret Pack to save 30 UR!
- "Wonder Wand" and "Spellbook of Knowledge" can be collected by purchasing "Spellbook of Prophecy" deck. 120 SR saved and you can try a new deck!
So, in total, you can save up to 540 SR and 60 UR, if you are willing to spend some gems. Other SR and UR cards I didn't mention are essential.
That's all for this one. Let me know if you have any questions and have fun in Master Duel!
