Power: Low Rogue (6.6/10) - TCG-legal and cleaner, but still Low Rogue because Fire King/Nephthys relies on delayed destruction loops, Phoenix recursion and modest interruptions rather than a modern one-card engine.
Consistency: Improved. Island, Terraforming, Tenki, Barong, Yaksha, Arvata and Onslaught open Fire King plays. Disciple, Devotee, Rebirth and Preparation make Nephthys searchable and functional.
Ceiling: Moderate. Strong hands pair Island pressure with Arvata, Circle or Impermanence, then loop Garunix or Sacred Phoenix. The ritual line adds Devotee, Cerulean and Nephthys links; the Extra Deck adds Bagooska, Tiger King, Dugares, Exciton, I:P, Unicorn and Borrelsword.
Recovery: Good for casual rogue. Fire Kings replace themselves when destroyed, Garunix and Sacred Phoenix return on the Standby Phase, Rekindling converts FIRE bodies into Rank 4 or Link pushes, and Nephthys links turn ritual hands into board presence.
Going first/second: Best going first or in grind games. Going first, build Island plus Arvata, Circle or Impermanence and prepare Phoenix/Garunix follow-up. Going second, Onslaught plus Dark Ruler, Evenly, Nibiru, Cosmic, Feather Duster and Pankratops help break boards.
Choke points: Remove Island before it resolves, stop Barong or Disciple searches, banish Garunix or Sacred Phoenix before the Standby Phase, negate Rebirth/Preparation, or force Arvata without a good destroy target.
Key cards: Fire King Island, Arvata, Barong, Yaksha, High Avatar Garunix, Sacred Phoenix, Disciple, Devotee, Cerulean, Rebirth, Circle, Tenki, Rekindling.
Key combos: Island destroys Barong or Yaksha to search and set up Garunix. Rebirth summons Devotee, then Devotee summons Disciple or another Nephthys body. Disciple destroys a Fire King/Nephthys card to search and create delayed value. Circle revives while triggering destruction effects. Rekindling turns low-DEF FIRE monsters into Tiger King, Dugares, Hiita, I:P or Borrelsword.
