Naturicks!
Deck Primer
Hello; As promised, I have returned! This new update focuses on banishing, no? Naturia (buff) -> Runick \\ Ghoti -> banish fish \\ Blackwings -> banish birds, so please hold on tight to your cards so your Tip or Fountain doesn't get banished.
Here are our crucial cards for this deck :
1. Naturia Mole Cricket - your Runick Spell of the Naturias, allowing you to Summon 1 (or 2, if conditions are met) Naturia monsters from the Deck, which are usually the Sp.ers(Camellia, Antjaw) or Negaters (Sunflower, Horneedle). This works in tandem with Piri Reis Map or One for One, allowing you to grab Cricket from the deck. Cricket also goes well with Camellia, since you can use Camellia's effect to Sp. Cricket(instead of waiting for an ED monster to be Sp.ed), then go into more Naturias.
2. Naturia Camellia - Your next crucial card in this deck, since it can be used to Sp. Cricket, Sunflower, or any Naturian from the GY so they can reuse their effects again. Camellia's other effect is especially built for the Negaters, since both negaters require tributing Naturia monsters, and Camellia can make the cost effect instead mill 2 cards to the GY. The last effect of Naturia Camellia is the milling of one Naturia card to the GY, which you can mill here any Naturia, so you can Sp. them later, OR you can mill Sacred Tree, then Sacred Tree gives you 1 Naturia Card to your hand.
3. Hugin's Fountain - Runick Fountain allows you to draw up to 3 cards, depending on how many Runick Spells you have in the GY, which works in tandem with Camellia's milling (of mostly Runick spells), so you can get more draws, without having to play or have said Runick cards in your hand. Hugin allows you to grab a Fountain(at the cost of a discard, *sacred tree crying*) and protects cards from being destroyed(at the cost of banishment).
The Starter Plays :
Below is the Cricket Combo, and this is the worst-case scenario for combo. If you can meet Cricket's restrictions(enemy has a higher ATK monster than you), then you can already Sp. Camellia and Sunflower, then mill Antjaw for summoning later, otherwise, go like so :
- Piri Reis Map -> Grab Mole Cricket -> Ns. M. Cricket -> Sp. Camellia -> Mill Sunflower / Sacred Tree
If possible, try to save your Normal Summons for Bamboo Shoot(all hail the floodgate), by using One for One, or Naturia Blessing. Though if you don't have Piri Reis, One for One, or M. Cricket in hand, and you have Camellia, go like so :
- Ns. Camellia -> Mill Cricket -> Opp.s Turn -> Opp Ns./Sp. any -> Sp. Cricket from GY -> Sp. Antjaw // Wait for Mon with higher than 1,400 ATK
As for the Runick Combo, you want to discard (ALWAYS) Sacred Tree, to get those sweet draws. But if you don't have, or have a better use for Sacred Tree, then discard Runick Spells or Naturia Monsters you want to Sp. later with Camellia's effect:
- Any Runick Spell -> Hugin -> Discard Sacred Tree/Runick Spell/Naturian Mon. -> Grab M. Cricket -> Cricket Combo.
Sacred Tree is very flexible, whether you want it as a Continuous Trap, (that acts like a cricket ngl), or a moon scoop from the deck. Speaking of Sacred Tree, there are other Naturians still unintroduced, let's meet them :
- Negaters - Sunflower and Horneedle, who stop your enemies' monster effects and Sp.s at the cost of tributing Naturia monsters, to which Camellia is paired with.
- Stallers - Rosewhip and Bamboo Shoot prevent any funny spell and trap business with their floodgate powers, while Stinkbug prevents your enemy from moving to the Battle Phase and disarming your Camellia/Antjaw/Sunflower etc...
- Recycler - Marron is bae, Marron is life, who can recycle your used-up Stinkbugs and accidentally scrapped Marrons and Camellias, so that Cricket can Sp. them from the deck. Keep in mind, Cricket can only Sp. from the Deck, Camellia from the GY. And Marron's effect is a SOPT, so do what you will with that information.
For Synchro Summons, (I've been recently getting into these, as seen from my previous entries) :
- Chengying is your go-to best friend for these types of fights, limiting GY and Field with that mighty banish, though if no cards remain on-field/GY, Chengying goes a little flat.
- Baronne works in tandem with using other Synchro Monsters as your materials, use negate, then make her jump back and Sp. a Beast/Barkion/Framelord from your GY.
- Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, is good for anti-monster effects(but you probably don't need those, since you have Horn and Sunflower blocking the effects)
Tips & Weaknesses :
- When facing against similar Runick users, this set-up becomes tricky, but against Ghoti?, you'll do just fine, since they heavily rely on monster effects. Sky Striker? A little questionable, since Hayate doesn't need to attack Naturia monsters, so Stinkbug's effect can't proc, but doable since Sky Stiker relies on monsters, too plus on the banish aspect. Tear? it relies on monsters, so I think, yes., they can only Fus. 3 times, (Scheiren, Merrli, Havnis)
- Be careful of spells and traps, since Rosewhip and Bamboo Shoot take too long to get on-field and are the easiest one to get Tributed by Sunf. and Horneedle.
- Board space is always a problem here, since you want Camellia and Sunflower/Horneedle always on-field, then have Antjaw to proc some Sp. effects (for tribute materials, no doubt), then Stinkbug waiting for that Battle Phase, so your monsters don't get beatdown, and Marron for the recycling; it's always difficult what to prioritize, but I believe you'll manage.
- Against floodgates and board breakers, you can still carry on, since if spells are targetted, your Naturia monsters can still party, while if opp. whips out a DRNM, you can still disrupt with Runicks, but if Imperial Iron Wall resolves,,, condolen-
- You can deviate from this style and add more Tuners/Tuner Supp.s and Synchros to the mix, since Naturias really support Synchros of all levels.
- I haven't found a way to Sp. Gaiastrio or Exterio, Earth Synchros are hard to do(they occupy board space, you lose some valuable Naturia cards to the GY), I will update you on that, if I do (or maybe the comment section can help?)
- As I said at the start, this deck is prone to banishes, that is why I have Framelord O and Acquisitive in Side, to recall those banished Hugins and Fountains, but if you can find a way to Sp. Gymir, then do share!
- Also, this deck is slightly prone to anti-spell-ers, but you can turbo a Bamboo Shoot out before they go ham on your board, though, you can add a Naturia Vein to deter your opponents.
- Feel free to add more Maxx 'C's, Crickets, Ash, Piri Reis and UR stuff that will definitely help (im broke, sorry~) but the current deck set-up is consistent for me, already. Good luck, duelist! I hope to see you soon! (let me just finetune my Ghotis, hehe.)
