Welcome to my Edison Format Mausoleum/Geartown deck! This build focuses on explosive high-level summons and oppressive lockdowns while maintaining the defensive stability needed to survive early-game aggression.
Core Strategy
The main goal is to bypass traditional tribute mechanics using -Mausoleum of the Emperor and -Geartown to cheat out massive boss monsters. Once the field spell engine is active, we apply overwhelming pressure by dropping floodgate monsters like -Vanity's Fiend or -Light and Darkness Dragon to completely shut down the opponent's core strategies.
Key Interactions & Combos
The Geartown / Mausoleum Interaction: The bread and butter of the deck. Activating -Mausoleum of the Emperor while you already control a face-up -Geartown destroys the latter. This triggers Geartown's effect to Special Summon an -Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon directly from the deck, giving you an immediate 3000 ATK threat for free while leaving Mausoleum active for your Normal Summon.
The Ultimate Lockdown Package: We run a heavy lineup of tribute monsters designed to restrict the opponent. Dropping -Vanity's Fiend on Turn 1 shuts down Special Summon-heavy meta decks (like Blackwings or Quickdraw). -Jinzo turns off all trap cards, and -Light and Darkness Dragon acts as an omni-negate to control chain links and exhaust opponent resources.
The Hand-Trap Survival Engine: Because we pay massive amounts of Life Points with Mausoleum, we are vulnerable to OTKs. A robust defensive package including 3 -Battle Fader, -Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, and -Tragoedia ensures we survive direct attacks. These monsters also stay on the field, providing excellent tribute fodder for our boss monsters if we don't have Mausoleum active.
The Gravekeeper's Spy Wall: Running 2 copies of -Gravekeeper's Spy gives us a solid 2000 DEF early-game wall. When flipped, it brings out the second copy from the deck, instantly generating two bodies on the field to stall the game or use for a two-tribute summon without spending Life Points.
The Anti-Stun Side Deck Transformation: A lethal adaptation for games 2 and 3 against Set-heavy or Stun decks. We side out our reactive hand-traps (Faders, Gorz) for -Dark Simorgh and -Royal Decree. Because Simorgh has no Normal Summon restrictions, we can pay 2000 LP with Mausoleum to drop it on Turn 1. Paired with Decree, this entirely locks the opponent out of setting any cards or using traps!
The Machina Fortress Discard Outlet: With multiple high-level machines like -Ancient Gear Golem and Gadjiltron Dragon, hands can occasionally brick. -Machina Fortress serves as the perfect discard outlet, letting us pitch "dead" machine monsters from our hand to Special Summon a resilient 2500 ATK body to the board. To sustain our Life Points for further Mausoleum plays, we also run 2 -Supremacy Berry to recover from the heavy costs.
