I was thinking about what I would put in a hypothetical 2-player starter kit to get new players into the game. Reflecting on a lot of the criticism of the most recent 2-player starter kit in real life, I'm not sure that I agree with the idea of giving a new player a truly fine-tuned meta deck right out of the gate. Instead, I've tried to construct something that puts emphasis on the things that they should be focusing on when they start moving over to real games against seasoned opponents, by drawing their eye to simple 2 and 3 step combos that lead to easy-to-understand payoffs revolving around Blue-Eyes and dragon monsters, some generic rank 8's, and increasing attack points to run over anything the opponent throws out.
Like the other deck, I've chosen some basic hand traps (6 this time). But unlike the other deck (which focuses on trying to offer a tool for almost every situation and ways to get out of the various binds that this one would put it in) this Blue-eyes deck is about raw power and going-second. It aims to knock out the opponent in a single battle phase, and as a result, doens't have much protection for build-a-board going-first situations.
The intention is for the blue eyes player to come to understand that there are different cases when you would *want* to go first or second, and eventually, they should come to realize that attack points matter much less than the effects that are stapled onto a monster.
To that end, the extra deck is stocked with poweful effects that still scratch the Timmy brain itches. Board wipes, massive attack swings, changing stats, and summoning many monsters at once. It was designed to be dramatic and exciting, and appeal to a newer player. While the Dark Magician deck will make the person playing it feel clever, and like they can escape the machinations of this deck, this Blue-Eyes deck should make the player feel like they're an unstopable force of nature and like all of their monsters are unbeatable in battle and can easily blow away any card the opponent can field.
