STRATEGY GUIDE
1. The Ideal Opening Lines (Turn 1 Setup)
The 4-Dragon Matrix Baseline
- Hand Requirement: 2 Baby Dragon Rulers + 2 Big Dragon Rulers (or matching discard fuel).
- The Play: Discard your babies to summon your big Level 7 Dragon Rulers from the deck. Overlay them into your first Chasma, Dragon Ruler of Auroras.
- The Search Loop: Detach from Chasma, send Tempest (Wind Big Ruler) to the Graveyard to search Buster Whelp.
- The Normal Summon: Normal Summon Buster Whelp. Search Prologue of the Destruction Swordsman and Set it.
- The Ladder climb: Banish your spent graveyard fuel to summon a Big Ruler back. Trigger the banished Rulers to search Dragolithia Kunzite (off your EARTH/Redox lines). Overlay your field into Ebon Illusion Magician.
- The End State: Detach from Ebon to Special Summon Dark Magician. Pass turn with a board of Chasma, Ebon, Dark Magician, Buster Whelp, and a Set Prologue. You hold Secrets of Dark Magic (searched via Dark Magician of Destruction if you laddered through him).
The 3-Card "Here There Be Dragons" High-Roll
- Hand Requirement: 1 Baby Ruler + 1 Big Ruler + Here There Be Dragons.
- The Play: Discard both Rulers for the Baby effect. Activate Here There Be Dragons to pull the Big Ruler straight back out of the Graveyard. Xyz Summon Chasma immediately. You save your Normal Summon entirely and have 2 unspent cards left in hand.
The "Sacred Sword" +1 Card Advantage Opening
- Hand Requirement: 1 Big Dragon Ruler + Sacred Sword of Seven Stars.
- The Play: Activate Sacred Sword of Seven Stars and banish the Big Dragon Ruler from your hand as the cost.
- The Resource Gain: You immediately draw 2 fresh cards from your deck. Simultaneously, the banished Dragon Ruler’s mandatory trigger effect activates, allowing you to search out a matching Baby Dragon Ruler straight to your hand.
- The Advantage: You turned a 2-card investment into a 3-card hand (+1 card advantage). This completely floods your hand with discard fuel before you even touch your Normal Summon.
2. The Mid-Combo Interruption Recovery (The "Things Go South" Plan)
The Triple Tactics Thrust Emergency Pivot
- The Problem: Your opponent hand-traps your Chasma or your Baby Rulers mid-combo, threatening to freeze your setup.
- The Solution: Because your opponent activated a monster effect on your turn, immediately activate Triple Tactics Thrust from your hand.
- The Play: Thrust allows you to Set any Normal Trap directly from your deck to your field. Use it to bypass your choked monster engine entirely and Set Prologue of the Destruction Swordsman directly to your backrow.
- The Result: You satisfy the "Spell activated this turn" checklist to keep your Ebon/Destruction extra deck ladder alive, while safely guaranteeing your Turn 2 lock is ready to blow out your opponent.
If Everything Collapses (The "Disaster" Apocalypse)
- The Problem: Your main combos are completely broken by high-impact monster effects.
- The Pivot: Aggressively banish your remaining Graveyard Rulers to Special Summon your second Chasma. Then, banish more to drop Eclipse, Dragon Ruler of Catastrophes.
- The Boss Solution: Overlay both of them to unleash Disaster, Dragon Ruler of All Apocalypses. This gives you an immediate, massive beatstick that forces your opponent to waste resources dealing with raw power rather than your locks.
3. Opponent’s Turn Execution (The Unbreakable Lock)
Because Buster Dragon cannot use its revival effect on the opponent's turn, you must execute your chains precisely during the opponent's Standby Phase:
- Activate Prologue: Send Buster Blader and Destruction Sword Memories from your deck to the Graveyard. Special Summon your first Buster Dragon.
- The Passive Freeze: Buster Dragon immediately forces all face-up opponent monsters to become Dragons.
- The Quick-Play Fusion: Activate Secrets of Dark Magic from your hand. Fuse the Dark Magician on your field/hand with the Buster Blader sitting in your hand/field to summon Dark Paladin.
- The Lockdown Finish: On a fresh chain, activate the Graveyard effect of Destruction Sword Memories. Banish itself, the baseline Buster Blader, and a Dragon from your GY to Fusion Summon Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman.
- Result: Opponent monsters are turned to Dragons, forced into defense mode, have their active effects completely frozen, and Dark Paladin stands ready to negate any Spell card they try to use to break the board.
4. Turn 3 Game-Ending OTK Clean Support
If the opponent somehow survives your turn-two lockdown, you enter Turn 3 ready to execute a massive, over-the-top push that completely fills your Graveyard with Dragons and maximizes Dark Paladin's attack value.
The Borrelshroud Setup
- The Field State: You enter the turn controlling your material-less Chasma, your material-less Ebon Illusion Magician, your Dark Paladin, your Buster Blader (DDS), and the extra Buster Dragon (which is doomed to be destroyed by Prologue's end-phase restriction anyway).
- The Link-5 Summon: Before that extra Buster Dragon self-destructs, Link it away alongside your spent Chasma and Ebon Illusion Magician. Send all three to the Graveyard to Link Summon Borrelshroud Dragon (Link-5).
The Graveyard and Field Economy Spike
- The Graveyard Dump: Sending Buster Dragon and Chasma straight to the Graveyard immediately drops two massive Dragon-Types into your GY pool. This instantly spikes Dark Paladin’s continuous effect, granting him a permanent +1,000 ATK boost.
- The Board Presence: Borrelshroud Dragon hits the field. Because it is a Dragon, its face-up presence on the board grants Dark Paladin another +500 ATK.
- The Battle Phase Cheat: At the start of the Battle Phase, activate Borrelshroud Dragon's effect. Special Summon Borrelsword Dragon directly from your Extra Deck. Because Borrelsword is also a Dragon-Type, Dark Paladin absorbs its presence for yet another +500 ATK boost.
The Final Battle Phase Execution
The Borrelshroud loop nets Dark Paladin a total of +2,000 bonus ATK points from a single sequence, pushing its offensive power to absolute maximum ceiling.
Because your field still safely holds Dark Paladin and Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman, your newly cheated Borrelsword Dragon has plenty of valid friendly targets to trigger its ignition effect. Target one of your own monsters to switch it to defense position, unlocking Borrelsword’s devastating second attack.
Your opponent is left facing an unbreakable wall of pure, scaled damage:
- 1x Dark Paladin (Massively buffed by the sheer density of Dragons in the GY/Field).
- 1x Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman (Freezing any remaining defenses).
- 1x Borrelshroud Dragon (A fresh 3500 ATK behemoth).
- 1x Borrelsword Dragon (Double-attacking for an effortless, un-blockable One-Turn Kill).
PART 2: THE SIDE DECK MATCHUP GUIDE
Matchup 1: Against Highly Disruptive / Combo Decks (Going Second)
- The Goal: Punish their turn-one setup and force an un-negatable shortcut to your Fusion bosses.
- Cards to Input:
- +1 Five-Headed Dragon
- +3 Super Polymerization
- +3 Dark Ruler No More
- +1 The Eye of Timaeus
- +1 Triple Tactics Thrust (Bumping you up to 3 copies total for maximum draw odds)
Cards to Output:
- -1 Borrelshroud Dragon
- -3 Sacred Sword of Seven Stars (Too slow when breaking established boards)
- -2 Here There Be Dragons
- -1 Secrets of Dark Magic
- -1 Dragolithia Kunzite
- -1 Buster Whelp of the Destruction Swordsman (Trimming the normal summon to avoid getting hit by on-field monster negates)
Strategy: If your opponent builds a heavy field, use Dark Ruler No More to freeze it. If they try to drop a monster interruption, immediately fire off your maxed-out Thrust engine to add The Eye of Timaeus straight to your hand, instantly bridging you into Dragoon or Dark Paladin without risking a multi-step Extra Deck choke point.
Matchup 2: Against Heavy Backrow / Trap Decks
- The Goal: Cleanly eradicate continuous floodgates and trap setups before deploying your engines.
- Cards to Input:
- +3 Cosmic Cyclone
- +2 Evenly Matched
Cards to Output:
- -2 Triple Tactics Thrust (Backrow strategies rarely activate monster effects on your turn, making Thrust completely dead)
- -2 Here There Be Dragons
- -1 Sacred Sword of Seven Stars
Strategy: Keep your resource lines clear by using Cosmic Cyclone to remove annoying field or continuous cards. If they over-commit their traps, enter your Battle Phase with a clear field and drop Evenly Matched at the end of the step to entirely wipe their backrow face-down.
