I am going to call this Deck “Dogmatika Post MZMU” because Dogmatika Chaplain is in Maze of Muertos which is after Burst Protocol, the set with Fallen of the White Dragon, unless BPRO’s TCG release gets delayed again.
I like Dogmatika as a Deck. I think Dogmatika Alba Zoa is an insanely cool boss monster. And I even have the Deck in real life. But I will admit that the Deck has its fair share of struggles. First of all, when the Deck goes first, it is very reliant on 2-card combos. While it may not seem like too much of an issue, it is the cards you need that are the issue: a way to get to Dogmatikamatrix and a way to put a monster on your opponent’s field. The Deck has plenty of ways to Dogmatikamatrix: Matrix itself, Dogmatika Ecclesia, the Virtuous, Nadir Servant, and the new Fallen of the White Dragon. It’s just that the cards that put a monster on your opponent’s field are bad. Knightmare Corruptor Iblee is the original pick: if she is sent from your control to the GY, she can Special Summon herself from GY to your opponent’s field in Defense and whoever controls her cannot Special Summon monsters except for Link Monsters. Why is she not great? The only way to search her is Cynet Mining and having to send 1 card from hand to GY to search for Iblee is a cost that not many people want to make in a Deck that wants to conserve resources in hand. Ken the Dragon Warrior and Gen the Diamond Tiger can Special Summon the other from hand or Deck to your opponent’s field, and in doing so, Ken allows you to draw 2 and discard 1 while Gen makes your opponent discard a card. These are probably your best options for putting a monster on your opponent’s side of the field, especially since they can act as Small World bridges and turn on Triple Tactics Thrust. The downside? You can’t really play that much non-engine without the Deck starting to become clunky. The same goes for Click & Echo and Deep Sea Diva. I don’t see anyone playing with them in Dogmatika, but I’ve tested with them. The upside? Click & Echo Special Summons itself from GY to your opponent’s field if sent to GY as Link Material and makes them play with their hand revealed while they control it. Also, if you open Diva to access Click & Echo, you can do that and make an S:P Little Knight as additional interruption on your board. But, as with Ken and Gen, you can’t really play too much non-engine with them before the Deck just becomes clunky. The second issue is that the Deck is so insanely interruptible going first. A well-timed Infinite Impermanence or Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring can straight-up end your turn. And in an actual Dogmatika Deck (with their Ritual Monsters and stuff), there isn’t any room to play other cards that can help you play through interruption, especially with not how tight the Main and Extra Deck is. That gets us to the third issue: there are too many cards that you want to play in this Deck, both in the Main and Extra Deck. Dogmatika Chaplain, Guiding Quem, the Virtuous, White Knight of Dogmatika, Dogmatikaturgy, Quadogmatika Beast, Dogmatika Fleurdelis, the Thunderbolt, and Dogmatika Punishment are all incredible/useful cards that you want to fit into the Deck, but you have to either Side Deck them or cut them entirely because of some other of the Deck’s new cards being so much better (i.e. Fallen of the White Dragon and The Fallen & The Virtuous). Also, because of Fallen of the White Dragon and The Fallen & The Virtuous, you have so many cards that you legitimately want to play and could play in the Extra Deck now: Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon, The Dragon that Devours the Dogma, Lubellion the Searing Dragon, Titaniklad the Ash Dragon, Albion the Branded Dragon, and Ecclesia of the Black Dragon. You have to make room for all the other important cards in your Extra Deck, so most of them will not make the cut.
How do I think these flaws should be remedied? By making this Deck blind second. Dogmatika is actually pretty decent going second, and I don’t mean by playing 3 copies of Fleurdelis the Thunderbolt and 1 Punishment in the Main Deck (I have some real choice words for those later). I mean by playing Nibiru, the Primal Being, playing Mulcharmies, playing Droll, and by playing other going second tools like Dark Ruler No More to ensure we can break our opponent’s board and set-up our own plays. No real set combo here but ensure that our opponent cannot interrupt us, activate Dogmatikamatrix while they have a monster on their field, and go to town.
Main Deck: 1 Dogmatika Alba Zoa which is a Level 12 Ritual Monster can only be Ritual Summoned using Dogmatikalamity or another Dogmatika card. While it is face-up on the field, Dogmatika monsters you control are unaffected by your opponent’s activated Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, and Link Monster effects. Also, during your Main Phase, you can force your opponent to choose between returning all Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, and Link Monsters they control to the Extra Deck or sending 1 card from their hand or Extra Deck to the GY for every 2 cards in their Extra Deck. Alba Zoa has great utility going first and second. For one, it is a massive 4000/4000 monster that is unaffected by your opponent’s Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, and Link Monsters’ activated effects. Going first, you can force your opponent to send at most 7 cards from their hand and/or Extra Deck to the GY because they don’t control any Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, or Link Monsters to be able to choose that effect from Alba Zoa to apply. Going second, your opponent has a choice between applying either of the 2 effects, but both of them still are great for forcing your opponent to get rid of resources. You only need the 1 copy of Alba Zoa as you are more or less only making 1 over the course of the Duel. 1 White Relic of Dogmatika which is a Level 4 Ritual Monster and if she is Ritual Summoned, you can target 2 face-up monsters on the field to make 1 of those monsters gain ATK equal to the other monster’s ATK. What you are meant to do with this effect is target White Relic and Alba Zoa to turn White Relic from a 500 ATK monster to a 4500 ATK monster. While she is face-up on the field, Level 8 or higher Dogmatikas you control cannot be destroyed by battle, which isn’t too relevant, but it is still nice to have. Also, if a monster(s) is Special Summoned from your opponent’s Extra Deck, you can look at and send 1 monster from your opponent’s Extra Deck to the GY. This effect is also seldom used because White Relic isn’t something you are making on Turn 1 when going first. She is a monster you are Summoning as follow-up unless you are playing Dogmatikaturgy to access her from hand or Deck on your opponent’s turn. 1 Dogmatika Maximus which can Special Summon itself from hand by banishing a Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, or Link from GY (this is an activated effect in hand). During your Main Phase, Maximus can send 2 monsters with different names from your Extra Deck to the GY and then your opponent sends 2 monsters from their Extra Deck to the GY, locking you out of the Extra Deck for the rest of the turn. I have a love-hate relationship with Maximus. When I want to access him, he’s never there. When I don’t want to see him, he’s there, but he is still a good card, especially in situations where you really need to send 2 cards from your Extra Deck to GY. Otherwise, I’d cut him and play 2 Chaplain instead, which I am not doing because Chaplain is much better going second than going first. But, you really only need the 1 Maximus as multiple can result in dead hands, and you often want to conserve cards in the Extra Deck by not using his effect. 1 Dogmatika Chaplain which can Special Summon himself from hand if a monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck is on the field (this is an activated effect in the hand). If Special Summoned from the hand, you can have each player send a monster from their Extra Deck to GY and if he is sent to the GY, you can target a Dogmatika card in GY except for Chaplain and add it to hand. Chaplain is a phenomenal card for Dogmatika, limited by the fact that he is bad going first and much better going second and requires a player to control a monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck. It’s GY effect is a strict upgrade from its counterpart of Dogmatika Ashiyan, especially since it works with Granguignol the Dusk Dragon’s effect on Fusion Summon and Quadogmatika Beast. We aren’t playing Quadogmatika Beast, but they do synergize with each other. Why is Chaplain good going second? If your opponent has a monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, you can Special Chaplain from hand and then activate its effect to send Elder Entity N’tss, Golden Cloud Beast - Malong, Mereologic Aggregator, or Tri-Brigade Arms Mouser from Extra Deck to trigger their GY effects. 1 Dogmatika Fleurdelis, the Knighted which can Quick Effect Special Summon itself from hand during the Main Phase if a monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck is on the field and then if you control another Dogmatika, you can negate the effects of 1 face-up monster on the field until the end of the turn. Just nice negation in general, going first or second. 3 Dogmatika Ecclesia, the Virtuous which can Special Summon herself from hand (as an activated effect) if a monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck is on the field, and if she is Normal or Special Summoned, you can search for a Dogmatika card, locking you out of the Extra Deck for the rest of the turn. Ecclesia can Special Summon herself from hand and she searches any Dogmatika card from Deck other than herself, which is great as she is one of the main enablers for the Deck. 3 Fallen of the White Dragon which is always treated as Fallen of Albaz (similar to how Pacifis, the Phantasm City and Umi work in Deck-building). You can send a monster that mentions Fallen of Albaz from Extra Deck to GY to Special Summon him from hand (as an activated effect), but you are locked into Level 8 Fusion/Synchros out of the Extra Deck for the rest of the turn. On Normal or Special Summon, he can Special Summon 1 Ecclesia monster from hand, Deck, or GY. Fallen of the White Dragon is essentially a free Special Summon from hand in a Deck that does not care about Special Summoning from the Extra Deck and straight-up just Special Summons an Ecclesia from Deck. Great card. 1 Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous which if you have Albaz on field or in GY, you can Special Summon her from hand and during the Main Phase, you can Quick Effect Fusion Summon a Level 8 or higher Fusion Monster using materials from hand or field. Also, during the End Phase, if a Fusion Monster(s) was sent to GY this turn, she can add herself from GY to hand. Before, you would use Cartesia as a Special Summon off of Despian Luluwalilith during the End Phase to Quick Effect Fusion Summon Granguignol on your opponent’s turn. But with Fallen of the White Dragon, you can now access any of the Albaz Fusions on your opponent’s turn, granted you have the correct materials on field or in hand. Or, you can make Albion the Branded Dragon with Cartesia to then Fusion Summon by banishing from GY, which also can get you to Alba System Dogmatikalamity if you really wanted to. Finally, 3 Nibiru, the Primal Being, 3 Mulcharmy Fuwalos, 3 Mulcharmy Purulia, and 2 Droll & Lock Bird. We are going second and there are some great cards for going second.
Spell/Traps: 3 Dark Ruler No More. Dark Ruler is a card that almost guarantees that your opponent’s monsters on their field cannot interact with you going second, granted that they have no effects in GY or hand or a Spell/Trap that can stop Dark Ruler or ones that can still interact with you. If you wanted to, you can play 3 Book of Eclipse over Dark Ruler if you want the option of OTKing your opponent but still want a good going second tool. 3 Nadir Servant which sends a monster from Extra Deck to GY to add a Dogmatika monster or a Fallen of Albaz from Deck or GY to hand with ATK less than or equal to the sent monster’s ATK in GY, and this does lock you out of the Extra Deck for the rest of the turn. Nadir Servant is a great card for both searching and removal as you can send like an N’tss or a Malong to get rid of an opponent’s card while also searching an Ecclesia or even Fallen of the White Dragon as it is always treated as Albaz. This is mainly the reason why I am siding Ultimate Slayer instead of Main Decking it despite blinding second. Unless you need the targeted removal of a Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Pendulum, or Link Monster by shuffling it into the Deck and having your opponent be unable to respond to the activation, Nadir Servant can act as similar removal as Ultimate Slayer at like half of its power. 3 Dogmatikalamity which adds a Dogmatika Ritual Monster or Dogmatika Ritual Spell from Deck to hand and then if your opponent controls a monster, you can add a Dogmatika card from Deck to hand. This effect on activation is what makes Matrix such a good card and a great enabler in Dogmatika. Also, as a soft once per turn, if you control a Dogmatika Ritual Monster, you can look at either player’s Extra Deck and send a monster from it to the GY. This is just a cherry on top for the card. You already have the insane search power on activation, but you also get a free send from either Extra Deck, often making Maximus or Chaplain unneeded during your set-up. 1 The Fallen & The Virtuous which can either send a monster that mentions Fallen of Albaz from Extra Deck to GY to target and destroy a face-up card on the field or if you have an Ecclesia monster on field or in GY, you can target a monster in either GY and Special Summon it to your field. If you send Albion the Branded Dragon to the GY during your turn, you can set this card from Deck during the End Phase. It is great removal and it’s second effect is partially the reason why I don’t see the need to play Quadogmatika Beast as The Fallen & The Virtuous can Special Summon a monster from either GY while Quadogmatika Beast only Special Summons from your GY, which doesn’t do much unless you bring back an Ecclesia because most of the Dogmatikas only trigger their on-Special Summon effects if Special Summoned from the hand. We can also recycle The Fallen & The Virtuous with Chaplain if necessary so unless you want to play a second copy to open it more often going second, 1 copy is enough. 1 Dogmatikalamity which Ritual Summons a Dogmatika Ritual Monster by Tributing monsters from hand or field whose total Levels equal the Level of the Ritual Monster or by sending 1 monster from Extra Deck to GY whose Level equals the Level of the Ritual Monster, but you are locked out of the Extra Deck for the rest of the turn. This is the main way you are Ritual Summoning Alba Zoa, which you do by sending Despian Luluwalilith from Extra Deck. 1 Dogmatikamacabre which Ritual Summons a Dogmatika Ritual Monster from hand or GY by Tributing monsters from hand or field and/or banishing Fusion or Synchro Monsters from Gy whose total Levels equal/exceed the Level of the Ritual Monster. The rest of that effect does not matter because we aren’t playing White Knight of Dogmatika. This card is how you are Ritual Summoning White Relic most of the time, but in corner cases, it can be used for Alba Zoa. 2 Triple Tactics Thrust and 1 Triple Tactics Talent. 3 Infinite Impermanence.
Extra Deck: 1 Granguignol the Dusk Dragon which sends a Level 6 or higher LIGHT/DARK monster from Deck or Extra Deck to GY on Fusion Summon like a Malong to bounce a card or Chaplain to recycle a card. Also, if another monster is Special Summoned by your opponent’s activated monster effect, you can banish it from field or GY to Special Summon a Dogmatika from Deck or a Despia from Extra Deck. Here’s the deal with this effect. Unless you want a search with Ecclesia, you are always Summoning a Despia from Extra Deck because most Dogmatika monsters only trigger when Special Summoned from hand. Despian Quaeritis and Despian Proskenion are bad cards in my opinion, so your only real option is Luluwalilith which I will discuss when we get to her. We are not playing Mirrorjade or Lubellion because those cards are mad cope. You need to draw Fallen of the White Dragon to be even able to make them from going Cartesia into Albion, and the same goes for the other Albaz Fusions that you would actually Fusion Summon. They take up too much valuable space in the Extra Deck and are only good if you draw Fallen of the White Dragon and if you are going first. 1 Albion the Branded Dragon which is in here to send to GY in order for it to trigger during the End Phase of the turn it was sent there to set a Branded Spell/Trap from Deck, specifically The Fallen & The Virtuous. 1 The Dragon that Devours the Dogma, which while we can technically Fusion Summon, is more or less only in here because if it is in the GY during the End Phase of the turn it was sent there, you can add a Dogmatika or Tri-Brigade card from Deck to hand, specifically a Dogmatika card for our purposes. 1 Titaniklad the Ash Dragon which can add a Fallen of Albaz or Dogmatika monster from Deck to hand or Special Summon it from Deck during the End Phase of the turn it was sent to the GY. 2 Elder Entity N’tss which targets and destroys a card on field if sent to the GY. It baffles me whenever I see someone playing only 1 N’tss. If a card is not a once per turn and your Deck has the ability to send multiple, why not play multiple for more opportunities for removal? 2 Despian Luluwalilith, which, if it is in the GY during the End Phase of the turn it was sent there, can Special Summon a LIGHT Spellcaster from hand or Deck with equal ATK and DEF, specifically Cartesia. That is what the card does if we send her off of Dogmatikalamity to Ritual Summon Alba Zoa. If we Summon her off of Granguignol, she can, if a card(s) leaves the Extra Deck, boost all monsters you currently control by 500 ATK and then can negate the effects of a face-up card on the field until the end of the turn. We are playing 2 copies: 1 to send off of Dogmatikalamity and 1 to Summon off of Granguignol. 1 PSY-Framelord Omega which, if it is in the GY, can target 1 other card in the GY and shuffle both that card and itself into the Deck. Good for recycling Extra Deck monsters from GY. 1 Ecclesia of the Black Dragon which, if it is in the GY, can target a Level 8 Fusion Monster in your GY or banishment and 1 card on the field and shuffle both those cards and itself into the Deck. Great for removal and recycling. 1 Golden Cloud Beast - Malong which can target a face-up card your opponent controls and bounce it to hand if sent to the GY. 2 Mereologic Aggregator which can target a face-up card on field and negate its effects until the End Phase if it is sent to GY. 1 Tri-Brigade Arms Mouser which can target a face-up card on the field and change it to face-down Defense Position if sent to GY. 1 Salamangreat Almiraj because we are siding Iblee.
Side Deck: 2 Dogmatika Fleurdelis, the Thunderbolt which can Quick Effect Special Summon herself from hand during the Main Phase if there is a monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck on field. If Special Summoned from hand, she can set a Dogmatika Trap from Deck and it can be activated this turn if your opponent controls a Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, or Link Monster with 2500+ ATK. I am not a huge fan of Fleurdelis the Thunderbolt. I don’t think she is unplayable, but she definitely is not an auto-include in the Deck in my opinion, which is why we are siding her. 3 Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. 3 Knightmare Corruptor Iblee. Side her in going first. If you draw her, great. If you don’t, oh well. We at least need a way to mess with our opponent and put a monster on their side of the field for Dogmatikamatrix, which is why we are siding her for going first. 1 Called by the Grave. 1 Crossout Designator. 2 Ultimate Slayer. 1 Harpie’s Feather Duster. 1 Anti-Spell Fragrance. 1 Dogmatika Punishment.
