Power: Low Rogue (6.7/10) - This is about as far as a Link Evolution-era Gimmick Puppet build can be pushed while still feeling like Clayman: dense DARK Machine Rank 8 lines, strong generic Rank 8 payoffs, and enough side-deck breakers to sit at non-meta rogue tables. It stays Low Rogue because the engine still needs setup, loses tempo to hand traps, and lacks the later Puppet support that would make it truly threatening.
Consistency: Solid. Terror Baby, Scissor Arms, Condolence Puppet, Machine Duplication, Trade-In, Allure of Darkness, and Foolish Burial give the deck multiple ways to put Dreary Doll or Bisque Doll online. The Danger bodies and Gizmek Orochi provide extra Level 8 material, but some hands still draw too many revival/payoff cards before a Puppet is in the GY.
Ceiling: Respectable. Chimera Doll converts Machine bodies into a search or send, Gigantes Doll can steal monsters and convert the board to Level 8, and the Rank 8 package covers removal, spell negation, OTK pressure, and burn through Giant Grinder, Number 40, Dingirsu, Hope Harbinger, Draglubion/Numeron Dragon, and the rail line.
Recovery: Good for a theme deck. Dreary Doll, Junk Puppet, Monster Reborn, Perform Puppet, and Condolence Puppet's grave effect let the deck rebuild after trades. It is weaker if the opponent banishes Dreary Doll or clears your GY before Terror Baby or Junk Puppet resolve.
Going first/second: Flexible but slightly better second. Going first, aim for Hope Harbinger, Dingirsu, Number 40, or protected Gimmick Puppet pressure. Going second, Danger extenders, Lightning Storm, Rank 8 removal, Gigantes Doll, and the side deck's Dark Ruler No More, Evenly Matched, Nibiru, Twin Twisters, Lancea, and Feather Duster help break boards.
Choke points: Stop Chimera Doll before it resolves, remove the normal-summoned Terror Baby, banish Dreary Doll before it can recur, or interrupt Trade-In/Allure turns that are digging for extenders. Artifact Lancea and graveyard hate can also blunt the deck's best follow-up.
Key cards: Gimmick Puppet Terror Baby, Gimmick Puppet Bisque Doll, Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll, Gimmick Puppet Magnet Doll, Gimmick Puppet Scissor Arms, Condolence Puppet, Machine Duplication, Trade-In, Allure of Darkness, Junk Puppet, Gimmick Puppet Chimera Doll, Gimmick Puppet Gigantes Doll, Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Grinder, Number 40: Gimmick Puppet of Strings, Dingirsu, Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy.
Key combos: Scissor Arms sends Dreary Doll, then Terror Baby or Junk Puppet brings it back for Rank 8 material. Bisque Doll discards a Puppet to summon itself, then protects your Puppet monsters from targeting from the GY. Machine Duplication on Terror Baby or Dreary Doll turns one body into multiple materials. Chimera Doll searches or sends the missing Puppet, then locks you into Machine Xyz for the turn. Gigantes Doll steals opposing monsters, tributes itself, and turns the stolen board into Level 8 material for Giant Grinder, Strings, Dingirsu, or Draglubion lines.
