This is a take on a Branded deck that holds true to the basic combos, but focuses on preventing your opponent building a board on their turn in lieu of more expensive combo pieces like Quem, Cartesia, etc. Some basic ideas of the deck are below.
Going First:
- Slifer the Sky Dragon is a main card used to attempt to shut your opponent's board down, but only if you see The Revived Sky God or Trap Trick in hand. The main sequence to first set one of the aforementioned traps, then to utilize Branded Fusion to dump Fallen of Albaz and Slifer the Sky Dragon to fuse into Brigrand the Glory Dragon. This unfortunately does kill the normal line of fusion summons in a Branded deck profile. However, once you pass turn, you can activate either The Revived Sky God or Trap Trick to utilize the Revived Sky God's effect, summoning Slifer from grave, restoring card advantage to hand, and putting a 6000ATK Slifer on the field that auto-kills any monster summoned with less than 2000ATK. Brigrand also protect Slifer from opponent card effects. Ideally, you activate the trap as soon as possible in order to have your opponent draw as few cards as possible. The main downside of this combo is that Slifer must be destroyed in the End Phase since it was special summoned.
- Instant Fusion is meant to summon Millennium-Eyes Restrict, essentially acting as a second copy of Called by the Grave. As with Slifer, it is destroyed in the End Phase so use wisely.
Going Second:
The entire aforementioned Slifer engine, Monster Reborn, Harpie's Feather Duster, Allure of Darkness, and Branded Retribution are meant to be swapped out for the entire side deck to grant maximum interruption without much change to regular branded combos. Allure of Darkness is the only card that may be dangerous to swap out since draw power would be sacrificed.
- Albion the Sanctifire Dragon can only be played going second since Effect Veiler is the only Light Spellcaster available in the deck. This can be changed if you can afford more expensive cards like Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous
- Fusion Deployment is an excellent way to break your opponent's board, easily using Fallen of Albaz effect to get into an easy Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon
Other deviatons:
- Allure of Darkness grants some extra draw power, ideally banishing Despian Tragedy to search other Despia monsters, especially Aluber the Jester of Despia in a pinch. Allure works generally well because, with exception of Slifer, all monsters are Dark attribute. If you can afford Quem, Cartesia, or perhaps the more budget friendly Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous, Allure can easily be removed in favor of these cards.
- Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon is easily included because Dragoon is the G.O.A.T.
