An example decklist for Post-Burst Protocol Branded, with some spicier tech options.
Burst Protocol brings with it some really nice pieces of Branded support- notably, Fallen of the White Dragon, Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon, and Tri-Brigade Springans Kitt.
Fallen of the White Dragon is a new 1 card starter that no doesn't require your normal summon, and allows you to set up many end phase plays by extra-foolishing either Albion the Branded Dragon or Titaniklad the Ash Dragon as cost.
Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon is almost always what you make with Fallen of the White Dragon and Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous, as it allows you to summon either Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous or Guiding Quem, the Virtuous from your deck, which is incredibly strong.
Tri-Brigade Springans Kitt is a nice little piece of extra help, allowing you to an Albaz, or more commonly for this deck, a monster that mentions it upon being sent to GY, allowing you to cycle back your tuners for more synchro plays, if you wish, or setting Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous up for a fusion summon.
While previous builds played more heavily around Branded Fusion, Post-BPRO decks no longer need it to resolve in order to play the game. Summoning any synchro pervents you from taking advantage of BraFu, and activating BraFu locks you into only fusions, so the deck is a bit wacky with sequencing. If you open Fallen of the White Dragon AND Branded Fusion, you most likely use White Dragon's effect.
Typically, a White Dragon line looks like this:
Activate Fallen of the White Dragon effect in hand to dump either Titaniklad the Ash Dragon or Albion the Branded Dragon to grave in order to summon himself.
Activate White Dragon's on-summon effect to summon an Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous from deck.
Synchro 8 for Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon.
Dark Dragon effect, banishing itself until EP to summon either Guiding Quem, the Virtuous or Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous. This is hand dependant.
From here the turn branches off into a million different directs, as going with Cartesia allows you to start setting up an Ido the Supreme Magical Force lock via Granguignol the Dusk Dragon dumping it from deck to GY, summoning it back it Albion the Sanctifire Dragon, and while you can do this with Quem, it also requires a card leaving the extra deck to do more.
Notable locks to navigate:
Branded Opening locks you into fusions for the rest of the turn after activating.
Fusion Deployment locks you into fusions for the rest of the turn after activating.
Fallen of the White Dragon locks you into Level 8 fusions and synchros for the rest of the turn after activating the effect to summon itself.
Branded Fusion locks you into fusions the entire turn you activate it, including before activation, meaning you cannot activate it if you have synchro summoned that turn. (Notably it doesn't lock you when you copy it's ability with Fusion Duplication)
There are multiple VERY long video guides on this deck on Youtube- April's A Brief Study of Branded and MetaGamesGX's How To Play Branded in 2026: The Complete Guide (40 Hours). These guide go over a frankly unreasonable amount of combos, and while MetaGamesGX's video is the most recent, both offer a lot- April's has a free spreadsheet of combos and various hands you can get, whereas MetaGamesGX is charging for a modern spreadsheet.
Ratios for Branded might be one of the more debated parts of the deck, and is a major part of the expression of the player's skill. Some players prefer to run, say, 1 Albion the Shrouded Dragon and Branded in High Spirits each, but run 3 The Fallen & The Virtuous. Ratios on less mandatory cards are completely up to the pilot's discression. If you want to run a slimmer list, cutting card like High Spirits may be of use, but the deck has enough gas to be able to run anywhere from 40 cards (standard for most decks) to 60 cards (Branded That Grass Looks Greener is a strategy that CAN be played, though it's viability is...... debated).
Notable Techs:
Etude of the Branded is another target to set with The Bystial Lubellion if you dont want to go with Branded Lost for whatever reason, and it allows you to synchro summon during either player's turn, which lets you get around being locked into Level 8s. This allows access to a suite of good level 10 synchro options- notable Bystial Dis Pater and Chaos Angel, both of which offer quite good interruptions. In order to access the Level 10 Synchros, however, you do need to use a Bystial monster (other than Bystial Lubellion). Bystial Saronir and Bystial Druiswurm are both incredible options for this, as Druiswurm provides removal and Saronir allows you get get more Branded spells in GY- setting up recursion through Branded Retribution, or protection through Branded Opening.lly
PSY-Framelord Omega lets you rip a card from your opponent's hand, denying them resources. You activate it during their Standby phase, and then, if you have Etude of the Branded up as well as 10 levels worth of syncrho material, you can summon Bystial Dis Pater in order to summon back the Framelord and deny them another card. The first card ripped will not return to hand if the same copy of Omega is summoned from banish (or otherwise leaves Banishment).
Enigmaster Packbit is great when going 2nd (or if your opponent is playing K9 and summons K9-17 Izuna), as you can effectively fully remove access to an important monster by placing it in the S/T zone (Which was the same strategy used by Snake-Eyes players to both break boards and protect their own I:P Masquerena).
~Strengths~
Branded, as a deck, never stops running. A skilled player can navigate multiple handtraps and still build a mostly-full board, and with the new support, it's even more likely than ever. Konami also decided to print multiple absolutely insane cards for the deck, such as Branded Fusion, Branded Lost, Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon , and the new Fallen of the White Dragon, all of which make interacting with this deck a nightmare.
Branded Fusion being allowed to fusion summonusing materials from deck is an insane ability, especially with how strong the fusion toolbox is. The restriction that the monster has to use Fallen of Albaz as material does not matter when Lubellion the Searing Dragon and Albion the Branded Dragon both allow you to fusion summon a level 8 fusion without that fusion needing Albaz. The other lock it places (Fusion Monsters only for the entire turn it's activated) was a non-issue previously, however, now it is a small spot of annoyance.
Branded Lost is another particularly annoying card, as it prevents the activation of your effects that fusion summon from being negated, and prevents your opponent from responding when a monster is fusion summoned. One thing of note is that cards that negate effect are still able to stop fusion summon effects, so you can still have your Branded Fusion get hit by Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Adding on the effect to search an Albaz or one of his friends (Notably, Tri-Brigade Mercourier, which is a monster effect negating handtrap if you control an Albaz fusion) when you fusion summon a monster makes this one of the stronger cards in the deck.
Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon is an incredible boss monster, while a once-every-other-turn banish seems kind of bad, the fact that it extra-foolishes AND is non-targeting makes it insanely good. Plus, it's a soft-once-per-turn, so if you can manage to remake a Mirrorjade, you can use that effect again. The arguably more important part of Mirrorjade is the field nuke when the card is removed. In order for your opponent to properly avoid it, they specifically have to either negate the effect when it's activated in GY (it activates upon being sent to GY and resolves in End Phase) or they need to bounce Mirrorjade to ED/banish it facedown.
Fallen of the White Dragon will be discussed further below.
~Weaknesses~
Branded has a few notable weaknesses- the TCG-banned Dimensional Barrier (call Fusion) can completely stop the deck in it's tracks, and if you're only running the one copy of Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon and no other synchros, Non-Fusion Area is not something you will be able to out (without drawing The Fallen & The Virtuous.
Cards like Dimension Shifter can completely stop the End Phase GY plays, but do not do much to stop the monsters from hitting the board. It severely impacts the ability to play during the opponent's turn, as you won't have access to Albion the Branded Dragon's ability to set or Albion the Sanctifire Dragon's ability to reborn two monsters.
Cards that banish from your extra deck like Kashtira Unicorn can remove entire endboard or combo pieces, and if they yoink the Lubellion the Searing Dragon, you lose the ability to recycle those cards entirely. It can be unfortunate, but there are a few occasions in which you HAVE to play into them, so navigate those accordingly. Specifically, Face Down banishes cannot be recovered from.
As comedic as it might be, Bystial cards can have a severe impact on the deck via banishing cards you need for recursion (Blazing Cartesia, the Virtuous being the prime example), however they also serve as perfect material for Fallen of Albaz fusions, so if they slam Bystials down, you can normal or special OG!Albaz.
