Hello everybody!. As you may or may not know, months ago was released some support to the Witchcrafters archetype that is yet to arrive to the TCG, but we may as well start doing some recipes and experimentations beforehand.
Sadly, even though the new Witchcrafter Fusion Monster is a solid option to build a deck around, the Fusion Spell Card is really underwhelming (we are talking about a slow-searchable polymerization). so, i've been looking around the other spellcaster archetypes and found out that a Magistus package works wonders in this deck!.
What does the "Magistus Package" do exactly?.
Well i'm glad that you asked. Since there's no way to search out the Witchcrafter Fusion Spell without using Patronus (Too slow for turn-one) this deck uses instead "Magistus Invocation" that can be searched out with "Rilliona, the magistus of verre" (Since her effects procs also when special summoned you can use "Summoner Monk" to search her out).
With this alone it makes the deck a lot more consistent and less dependant of Verte, but there's more!.
You may combo this with "Magicalized Fusion" to have both Aiwess and Vice-Master on the field. "Magician Souls" is also a great card in the deck, you can cycle your deck with it's draw effect, prepare graveyard for Magicalized Fusion, and even link it off to "Artemis, the magistus moon maiden" and THEN normal/special summon Rilliona to search out Crowley and do Magistus combos. [Zoroa is there to be SS from the deck with xyz Rilliona]
The best part of this deck is that depending on your opening hand you may go with a Witchcrafter-only play or a Magistus-only play, or even better, both of them at the same time!.
I truly believe that this version of the Witchcrafter deck (While being an actual Witchcrafter deck) is the one with the highest ceiling and consistency out of all that i've tried out. It may not be meta (not without some hand-traps) and tends to die out quickly with negations but it's able to pull off strong boards and consistent OTK potential (with any 2 monster you can link-climb into Accesscode Talker that along with Vice-Master makes 8000 points of damage on the board)
Updated 17/05/22 (Banlist): Now that verte is banned this deck lost it's way to get the fusion on the field in the worst case scenario. I replaced verte for a second copy of Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden.
Hey! This looks pretty good, I do have one question though. Why are there 8 fusion spells when you can already search out up to 3 with rillona if you ran more invocation. Also, would running an invoked engine alongside these work? Kinda like those magistus/shaddoll/invoked decks from a bit ago? (I really don’t get what people saw in those decks. I beat them every time by running one monster lockdown witchcrafter of all things) but substituting witchcrafter for shaddoll?
Hi!, sorry for the late reply.
There are only 4 fusion spell (3 Magicalization + 1 Magistus Invocation), the only reason Metalfoes Fusion is there it’s because it’s a great discard fodder for the WC monsters (GY effect). I wouldn’t recommend playing 2-3 copies of Magistus Invocation firstly because there’s only one target (Vice Master, you only drop Aiwess when you open with one magicalization) so the other copies would be dead in hand, secondly, it’ll be a rare ocassion when you can active the search effect of rilliona a second time (by that time you already got so much advantage that it’s meaningless or the opponent just broked your board and set a bunch of negates), so instead you can use the other effect to return a spellcaster to the gy.
As for adding Invoked… YES, definitely you can dump the Magistus package out of the way, put Invoked instead and the deck would be much more powerful. But here’s the thing, that deck would consist mostly of invoked (an “Invoked Witchcrafter” rather than a “Witchcrafter Invoked”, which is not my approach).
Actually i’ve been experimenting and looking into a “Branded Witchcrafter” deck, i think it has potential, but i’m not really excited or anything because, well… Branded.
I like the witchcrafter/magistus combo, but I don’t really get the ritual monster. Is that a mistake, or maybe material for a fusion summon?
