Another deck designed for casual play - and boy is this one designed for casual play!

Early testing suggests that the best way for War Rocks to work is to make sure that battles happen on your terms, which generally means negating monster effects. Make use of your ability to swarm the field and shut down the effects of your opponent's ace monsters when you can, and just try and have fun with it - you definitely aren't taking War Rocks anywhere competitive!

Hopefully Lightning Overdrive really helps War Rocks out, until then, this is a "beer & prezels" deck so lean into the hammy Saturday Morning Cartoon vibes and try and prove your worth against the toughest monsters your opponent can summon!

lol, neo gladiator beast. I’m curious to see how these decks will be played in the future, maybe with gouki?

There’s almost certainly a way to play around with Gouki with them, yeah – I’m not a huge fan of the Gouki aesthetic though so personally I’m unlikely to be messing around with the hybrid

Goukis are kind of disgustingly good though, with all the searches and multiple link 4s

a gouki variant would most likely be able to run plenty of handtraps because of how much gouki can do with so little, the war rock would make great extenders with earth warrior synergy.

Tbf I can see both sides – they are visually the very embodiment of “Warrior”, being burly 80s cartoon/D&D barbarians
On the other hand, them being “hard as granite” would have been fun

However, as someone that wants to mess around with dumb over the top strong looking guys, I’m kind of happy that we probably won’t see loads of Adimacipator decks that have a single War Rock card in them calling themselves “War Rock 2021”. Not that I’m against that, but it is a shame sometimes to try and look for a deck and not find it in favour of 200 “Meta Deck in cosplay” lists

nexus takes a long time to add cards since they like to add multiple cards at once instead of as they come out

They do have the holy night dragon, its just that your probably didnt type the card name correctly – the Holy Night Dragon doesnt actually have Holy Night in its name – it is called Radiant Seiyaryu.

Thank you – very insightful. I’ll really think about these points and try and include some of your suggestions in the deck moving forward. I hope one day to have enough insight and keen tactical acumen to have such a deep grasp on the game.

It seems that there are a lot of random unsearchable 2 ofs for no reason as well as half of your extra deck just being nearly unusable cards purely for for disparity targets.

there are a lot times where extra decks are there just for disparity

The unsearchable 2-ofs have not been too much of a problem for me thus far (with the exception of Reinforcement of the Army’s Troops, which is not really speeding the deck up more than it can do in other ways – may end up taking that out) but then my local meta/match-ups are generally slower and more casual, so I don’t think I need quite the same amount of consistency as a lot of people do.

Similarly, the Goyo cards – which I’m assuming are your main issue with the Extra Deck? please do correct me if I’m wrong there – are in part a pot target, yeah, but are also a fun additional strategy that doesn’t interfere with the War Rock’s cards/are EARTH Warriors. I may end up tweaking the ratios though – even with disparity occasionally needing to hit some of the cards there, I’m really not seeing a need for 2 Goyo Kings or Predators, and may swap them out for some Links that boost the deck a little.

If you wanted to streamline this deck and make it more traditionally competitive whilst still playing it pure, it would be easy enough to do; take out Effect Veiler, RotAT, and pretty much any/all of the Traps, and replace them with Impermanence, a third Disparity and Dark Ruler No More, and better hand trap monsters than I’ve used, as well as more competitive Links in the Extra Deck.

But I personally don’t see much fun to be had in that direction personally – at least until they get more support, War Rocks are never going to be able to keep up with genuinely competitive or meta/meta-adjacent decks. So instead of trying to fine tune it and getting frustrated when it still can’t beat semi-meta decks, I think most War Rock duelists will have more fun playing them as a casual “chill out” deck with a cider, mates, and pretending to be He-Man with a deck.

I mean, by the time you get to casual play, what is “good”? I’ve had some fun with them messing around with them and, in my local group I’ve been able to go roughly 1 for 1 with Rose Dragons, Odd-Eyes, and a few other regular “relaxation” decks. The art on these guys are pretty cool, and I think its pretty nice to see an archetype try and make battling relevant again – albeit not as successfully as they could have – and I am sorry that other people have not found them as fun.
That said, I feel some people here could do with looking at whether they need to comment “this archetype suxx” or “War Rock are objectively not fun” does not help anyone – what do you want me to say to that? “Oh yep, you’re right, lol – guess I’ll delete this deck, sorry guys, they aren’t fun now you’ve said so!”? I’m not going to be convinced that I don’t like these cards, and saying “subpar archetype is subpar” doesn’t show you to be any kind of deck building genius.
A lot of people are trying to improve the deck in good faith, and those people – I am very thankful for the feedback! It has been very useful in playing around with ratios and Extra Deck choices in particular. I’m pretty sure that I’m gonna be replacing both RotATs, so if you have any suggestions for stuff to play around with, do let me know!

Whit this deck you have just 25% chance to win and that mean this is not a bad deck, but it doesn’t have a strategy,if you know what I mean.

being “bad” is when a deck printed in 2021 can barely beat a deck from 2005
