Simply put, you flip guru up and down thus using his search ability to search negates (Fiendess), removal (Umastryx), and play boosters (Final Battle and Cave Clash). Having meta counters like: Summon Limit, both Solemn counter traps, Impermanence, Ash, Gozen, Only One, Dark Ruler, and Heat Wave, it is very difficult to stop once begun. Extra deck isn't needed except for the purpose of Extravagence. (You can add whatever cards you think you'll need for your extra deck).
