Introduction

Phantom Rage has brought us the second wave of U.A. support, with 5 cards that could change the deck significantly. Let's take a look and see if these additions break the mold as a result! I'll also be providing a nice sample deck and some cool play lines for you aspiring sports fans.

U.A. Libero Spiker

U.A. Libero Spiker

Firstly, we can see that PHRA starts strong with the new level 4 of the archetype, something that they've needed for ages! Libero Spiker would've been used just because it's another Normal Summon, but it also has a nice effect that helps the deck a lot. It gives access to the higher level U.A. monsters who all have their uses during the opponent's turn.

U.A. Blockbacker works well with Libero's presence, and other options include Rival Rebounder and Perfect Ace.
Definitely a 3 of in the deck. You can run it with Midfielder for a good number of normal summons.

U.A. Playing Manager

U.A. Playing Manager

Playing Manager works differently compared to the other U.As, but that doesn't mean it's bad. On the contrary, it's a really strong addition to the archetype! PM jumps into play when you summon a U.A. monster and has two strong effects to work with!
You might quickly glance over to the negate and think about how you can stop your opponent's turn. However, due to the way you summon PM it usually doesn't pan out well. The negate is still quite good during your turn (and has a niche use during theirs) as it easily paves the way for an OTK or board breaking. The stronger effect to use during your opponent's turn is the proactive pop,  preventing set up in the first place. The deck also already has two strong negations with Blockbacker and Perfect Ace, so popping is preferred. It also helps a good deal against stray floodgates like Imperial Order or Naturia Beast.

Lastly, it's worth noting that you can use Signing Deal to bring this card out, return it to your hand by summoning a U.A., and then summon itself out again! What a score!

Run 3 of this card for sure.

U.A. Hyper Stadium

U.A. Hyper Stadium

Hyper Stadium provides a huge amount of consistency and power to the deck, synergizing with almost every piece in the strategy! The card also works beautifully with the original U.A. Stadium and is a key component to most of your plays alongside it.

Its second effect to perform an extra Normal Summon allows the deck to plus and toolbox incredibly hard and makes some strong, never before seen plays possible.

Foolish Burial Goods for Penalty Box to add the other stadium while you have one in hand is a great way to kick things off into high gear!

Absolutely a 3 of, there's very little reason not to use it.

U.A. Locker Room

U.A. Locker Room

U.A. Locker room certainly isn't a bad card by any means, but it works much better in F.A due to their interactions. It also conflicts with Extravagance and can be rather clunky to use.

Run 0-1 according to your preference. it's not awful and you can get away with running it as it can potentially recycle a key card.

U.A. MVP

U.A. MVP

Neat on paper and it has cool artwork, but it is definitely a "win more" card. It's best to stay clear from this one.

Run 0.

Sample Deck

PURE UA

Thanks to Hyper Stadium, RotA, Signing Deal, Foolish Burial Goods, Penalty, Extravagance, and the U.A. count, it's more than likely you'll be able to open a level 4 to work with (preferably Libero). If you want to reduce the chance of drawing too many Normal Summons, 2 Midfielder is also a valid choice.

Since the deck has high consistency, you run all of the useful U.A.s and toolbox on some of the ones that lean towards offense and defense as nifty one-offs. (Slugger, Dunker, Blockbacker, and Rebounder)

3 Foolish Burial Goods works wonders with the deck due to Penalty Box. It can also get Powered Jersey if needed. Two equip spells is a nice middle-ground for the deck. You can also run Infernoble Knight - Renaud to grab it off Isolde.

Hand traps depend on the meta but Ash, Veiler, and Nibiru work wonders as of now. Veiler is chosen as it has nice quirks with Halq or Selene if it comes to it, but not often due to Extrav.
Aussa can revive 001 or Earths and also allows Selene to climb to a Link 4.

Rival Rebounder is the star of the show, giving way to 2-3 disruption setups with some searches.

Activate Hyper Stadium, search Libero (or Playing Manager / Perfect Ace if Libero is already in hand)
Reveal U. A. Stadium, then switch to the other field spell. Normal Libero to add Rival Rebounder. use the extra normal to summon Rebounder, bringing back Libero and searching again (either Ace or Manager)
then bounce rebounder for Perfect Ace.
Most of the time you'll be able create setups with Ace, Manager in hand, and Libero tagging out into Blockbacker.

The Side Deck depends on the meta too, but the options included are decent in most formats.

Conclusion

PHRA has gifted the Ultra Athletes amazing legacy support. Although they may not be a meta force, the deck can hold its own against the best of them and offers a fun and unique playstyle to boot!

Get out there and slam some Jersey boosted attacks!
