Power: Low Rogue (6.8/10) - TCG-legal and Link Evolution friendly. Cutting Spellbooks for Secret Village, Terraforming, Skill Drain, and Solemn Judgment makes the control plan stronger. It stays Low Rogue because DM still needs setup, trap timing, and a normal summon.
Consistency: Good. Rod, Souls, Soul Servant, Circle, Apprentice Illusion Magician, Illusion Magic, and Dark Magic Inheritance keep the DM engine accessible. Cutting Spellbooks reduces normal-summon conflict.
Ceiling: Moderate to strong. Circle plus Eternal Soul turns each Dark Magician summon into removal, while Secret Village can lock spells, Skill Drain can flatten monster boards, and Judgment protects the setup. Timaeus and Secrets access The Dark Magicians, Dragon Knight, Amulet Dragon, and Dark Paladin.
Recovery: Good. Eternal Soul revives Dark Magician every turn, Soul Servant stacks and draws, Navigation gives a graveyard negate, and Souls turns dead spells/traps into fresh cards while setting up Dark Magician in the GY.
Going first/second: Best going first with Circle, Eternal Soul, Secret Village, Skill Drain, Judgment, Impermanence, or Navigation. Going second, Ash, Impermanence, Called, Timaeus fusions, Borrelsword, Dark Ruler, Evenly, Cosmic, Lancea, Droll, and Feather Duster help break boards.
Choke points: Stop Rod or Soul Servant, remove Eternal Soul before Dark Magician resolves, chain removal to Secret Village before it locks spells, negate The Eye of Timaeus, or clear Dark Magician before Circle can banish.
Key cards: Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl, Rod, Souls, Soul Servant, Circle, Eternal Soul, Secret Village, Skill Drain, Solemn Judgment, The Eye of Timaeus, Secrets of Dark Magic.
Key combos: Rod searches Circle, Soul Servant, Eternal Soul, Navigation, or fusion access. Souls sends Dark Magician to the GY for Eternal Soul. Circle plus Eternal Soul creates repeat banish pressure. Village plus any Spellcaster can shut off opposing spells while the trap engine grinds.
