Power: Low Rogue (6.9/10) - This is one of the cleaner Yami Yugi identity builds: a real Dark Magician control shell built around Magicians' Souls, Magician's Rod, Dark Magical Circle, Eternal Soul, Secrets of Dark Magic, and The Dark Magicians. It stays Low Rogue because the Link Evolution card pool does not give this version Dragoon-level payoff, so the deck still relies on searchable backrow and theme cards to keep pace.
Consistency: Strong for a Dark Magician deck. Magicians' Souls, Magician's Rod, Soul Servant, Dark Magical Circle, Apprentice Illusion Magician, Illusion Magic, and Dark Magic Inheritance all help reach the core loop. The update also makes the list fully current-legal by trimming Called by the Grave to one and turning the extra slot into Magicians' Combination.
Ceiling: Solid but not explosive. Circle plus Eternal Soul or Magician Navigation gives repeatable banish pressure, The Dark Magicians turns spell/trap activations into extra cards, Dark Magician the Dragon Knight protects the backrow, and Ebon Illusion Magician or Number 11: Big Eye gives Rank 7 utility. Borrelsword provides the cleanest finisher after the control engine has softened the board.
Recovery: Good. Eternal Soul, Soul Servant, Navigation, Magicians' Combination, Monster Reborn, and Magicians' Souls let the deck keep Dark Magician access after the first exchange. The grind is strong when Circle or Eternal Soul survives, but the deck can stumble if both the monster names and backrow are removed together.
Going first/second: Best going first. The preferred opening is Rod or Souls into Circle, Soul Servant, Eternal Soul, Navigation, Combination, or Secrets. Going second, Infinite Impermanence, Ash, Evenly Matched, Nibiru, Cosmic Cyclone, Feather Duster, Lancea, and Droll help force a window for the Dark Magician engine.
Choke points: Stop Magician's Rod or Soul Servant before they find Circle, Eternal Soul, Navigation, Secrets, or Combination. Remove Eternal Soul before Circle converts a summon into a banish. Banish Dark Magician before Navigation, Eternal Soul, or The Dark Magicians can use it. Backrow removal is especially strong if it hits Circle plus Eternal Soul at the same time.
Key cards: Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl, Magicians' Souls, Magician's Rod, Soul Servant, Dark Magical Circle, Eternal Soul, Magician Navigation, Secrets of Dark Magic, The Eye of Timaeus, Magicians' Combination, The Dark Magicians, Dark Magician the Dragon Knight.
Key combos: Rod searches Circle, Eternal Soul, Navigation, Secrets, Combination, or Illusion Magic. Souls sends Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl to the GY and turns spare spells or traps into new cards. Circle plus Eternal Soul or Navigation turns each Dark Magician summon into removal. Secrets fuses Dark Magician plus Dark Magician Girl into The Dark Magicians. Timaeus targeting Dark Magician makes Dark Magician the Dragon Knight or Amulet Dragon. Magicians' Combination swaps between Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl for a negate while keeping the theme front and center.
