Witchcrafter is a funny archetype. And this time, Witchcrafter Madame Verre has left them yet again, this time to be a solo act. A couple years ago during the pandemic, I ran a witchcrafter lockdown deck with There Can Be Only One as the key card. It worked decently well, beating some Zoodiac decks, which were pretty good at the time. Since then, Witchcrafter got its fusion cards, which might have improved consistency for the deck. So, here's the updated version.
STRATEGY
First off, this list has no handtraps. Add them if you want, but I personally don't like bricking on too many Ash Blossoms. This deck runs with the standard Witchcrafter motif of "pray that you open with a monster and spell." Fortunately, it runs 16 of each, so chances are pretty good. After that, you can set up a standard witchcrafter board, although with a heavier emphasis on getting Witchcrafter Madame Verre out than usual. From there, play DNA Surgery (select spellcaster) and There Can Be Only One. This locks both players into a single monster, where yours has immunity to destruction by battle (by effect 2) and a negate to the enemy monster's effects (effect 1.) You also have revives via Witchcrafter Holiday and spell/trap negates through Witchcrafter Draping. You can gain access to more spells as needed by playing more copies of your lower level Witchcrafter monsters, getting them destroyed by There Can Be Only One, and using their banishment effects. The one part of this deck I'm missing is a way to search out the necessary continuous traps to make the combo work, but that is probably me forgetting the existence of a really obvious card. Hope you enjoy it if you decide to build it, and let me know any edits you'd make if you feel like it! (Or the name of the really obvious continuous trap searcher I'm forgetting)
