"Nouvelles" is a modern Ritual archetype that is based on chefs and French cuisine, as well as Michelin Stars. The archetypal Ritual Monsters have a Level between 1 and 6, the same amount of Michelin Stars there are, all of them are searchable with Preparation of Rites, and they all have effects to Tribute an Attack Position monster your opponent controls to summon another archetypal Ritual from your deck, usually with a higher Level, however, the low Level ones are trigger effects when a card os targeted for an effect or for an attack, and the high Level ones are ignition effects that become Spell Speed 2 if they were summoned by a Nouvelles monster. The Level 1 and 2 Rituals, Buerillabaisse de Nouvelles and Confiras de Nouvelles, are also written on their respective Ritual Spells, the "Recipes", so they are searchable with Pre-Preparation of Rites. Despite the monsters bring primarily comprised of Rituals, there are a couple of Normal Summons for the deck, as usual with Ritual-based decks, Diviner of the Herald is an excellent choice, in addition to the new Pendulum monster they will recieve in AGOV (Age of Overlord), Poissoniere de Nouvelles, which can add ANY Level 1 Ritual Monster or a Recipe card from your deck to your hand, can summon banish Recipe cards from your GY to summon a Nouvelles Ritual from your hand. If you control a Ritual Monster while Poissoniere is in your Pendulum Scale, you can target a monster on the field to change its position and special summon this card from the scale, which would trigger the low Level Nouvelles, and can also set itself back in the Pendulum Scale if it's Tributed, such as for a Ritual Summon.
They also have some powerful archetypal Spells and Traps. Their Field Spell, Nouvelles Restaurant "At Table", can add a Recipe from your deck to your hand when it's activated, can mulligan a Ritual Monster from your hand and draw a card, and can reset 2 cards from your GY, including a Recipe, and draw a card during your End Phase. Voici la Carte (Today's Menu) can help you search out your Nouvelles monsters, as well as add a Recipe from your deck or GY to your hand, based on what Type of monster you added. They also have 2 Ritual Spells, Recette de Poisson (Fish Recipe) and Recette de Viande (Meat Recipe), which have the same main effect to Ritual Summon, but have differing secondary effects, as Poisson adds a Recipe Ritual Spell from your deck or GY to your hand if it is used to Ritual Summon Buerillabaisse de Nouvelles, and Viande changes all monsters your opponent controls to Attack Position if it was used to summon Confiras de Nouvelles. Recette de Personnel (Staff Recipe) is a Continuous Trap that summons a token after you target a Ritual Monster you control, which would also trigger the low Level Nouvelles, and can Ritual Summon as a Quick Effect. And they also have a Counter Trap, Chef's Special Recipe, which can negate a Spell/Trap Card or monster effect if you control a Nouvelles Ritual Monster, and can destroy it if you Ritual Monster was summoned by the effect of a Nouvelles monster, and it also has a secondary effect, where if you summon Hungry Burger, you can Tribute your opponent's entire lineup of monsters.
Yes, that's right, this archetype supports everyone's favourite Warrior Ritual Monster (for whatever reason), Hungry Burger. This vanilla Ritual Monster from the early days of Yu-Gi-Oh recieved an archetype to call its home essentially 20 years after it came out. In addition to their new Pendulum monster coming in AGOV, they will also recieve Concours de Cuisine (Confectionery Contest), which is basically an archetypal Emergency Teleport that summons a Nouvelles Pendulum Monster and "Patissciel" Pendulum Monster from your hand, Deck, or Extra Deck, one to each field, as of right now, there is only a single target for each, the aforementioned Poissoniere, and the Fusion Monster Patissciel Couverture, additionally, it also has a GY effect which targets a monster on the field to have it gain a minor ATK boost, but the important part is that it targets, which can trigger the low Level Nouvelles. The only problem with this card is that it is unsearchable, however, you can use cards like Pot of Prosperity can help you find it, though this card can easy set up Turn 1 combos for the archetype. You can summon Poissoniere to your field and Patissciel to your opponent's, activate the effect of Poissoniere to search either a Ritual Monster or Spell, whichever you don't have, then Ritual Summon using Poissoniere and place it in your Pendulum Scale, and since you have a Ritual Monster and you gave your opponent a monster, you can activate the effect of Poissoniere in the scale to target a monster, to which you can activate the effect of a low Level Nouvelles to Tribute the Patissciel and summon another Ritual from your deck, finally giving the deck the comprehensive game plan and turn 1 strategy, which it sorely lacked on release, turning the deck from a slow, reaction-based deck, into an actually functional and somewhat competent archetype.
