A new selection pack means new archetypes to Master Duel, and here we have probably one of the more popular ones. A competitor in the Snake-Eyes format, perhaps? Can they come out on top against the menace of Yubel? Kinda! This deck is firmly in the "Not Tier 1" bubble of decks, where people are never going to actually agree on whether it's Tier 2, Rogue, or unplayable (because everyone has a different definition of what "counts" for each of those categories).
However, it's a very solid mid-range deck that plays well into Maxx 'C' and is generally only completely screwed over by Shifter as far as common handtraps go. With that said, let's get into the cards:
Voiceless Voice
- Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice is the centerpiece of this entire archetype. It's her journey that we're following, and she is our most important playmaker. On summon, she places a "Voiceless Voice" Continuous Spell/Trap on the field, which means she can operate under Droll & Lock Bird and can't be Ash'd. She can be used as the whole tribute for a LIGHT Ritual. If she's in the GY when a LIGHT Ritual Warrior/Dragon hits your field, she'll summon herself back (and yes, this does include when you use her as tribute for that Ritual monster). Run 3 copies, you absolutely want to see her every game.
- Saffira, Dragon Queen of the Voiceless Voice allows you to discard her, send a Ritual Spell to the GY, then add a LIGHT Ritual Warrior/Dragon from your deck to your hand. Then you can banish her from your GY to perform a Ritual summon for a LIGHT Ritual Warrior/Dragon. Run 3 copies, she's an important playmaker too, though you can miss her in a given game without seeing a horrendous impact on your performance.
- Sauravis, Dragon Sage of the Voiceless Voice provides a method to easily get further interaction onto the board by shuffling two Spells (including a Ritual) from Hand/GY back into the deck. While he's on field, when your opponent activates a card/effect you can use Sauravis to shuffle himself back and summon a LIGHT Ritual Warrior/Dragon from Hand/Deck. The monster he summons does go back at the end phase of the next turn, but it's still very potent. I run only 1 copy, as I only want to draw him if I already have everything else I need and he's easily searched.
- Skull Guardian, Protector of the Voiceless Voice is our big boss monster. Aside from searching a Voiceless Voice (or the usual LIGHT Ritual Warrior/Dragon half the cards have mentioned) monster on Ritual Summon, he also becomes a 4.1K beater and gains an omni-negate while Lo is on the field. He is what we always want to end on no matter what. I run 2 copies, as opening him can help but we only want to open him if we have Lo or the Ritual Spell in hand already.
- Sauravis the Ancient and Ascended isn't a VV card by name, but it's part of the archetype regardless. This Dragon is a valuable tool in its own right, giving you insulation from Imperm/Veiler (and any other targeting effects your opponent throws at your monsters), and summoning it gives you a negate for Special Summons that works... sometimes. These kinds of "When you can" have a penchant for never being quite as applicable as you'd like, but it still helps regardless.
- Barrier of the Voiceless Voice is our primary Continuous Spell, and one that we always want to get at some point. Aside from the searching effect, it also protects Lo from being attacked while you control one of our Rituals and protects all of your LIGHT monsters from targeting. Run 3 copies, you always want to see it.
- Blessing of the Voiceless Voice is a recovery tool for your VV cards, and also allows to Ritual Summon on your opponent's turn if need be. I run 1 copy, since it doesn't further our combo on its own (though you can use it in situations where your opponent drops a Maxx 'C' while you've got Lo+Skull Guardian in hand already, to avoid giving them draws while still putting up the usual end-board, if you're willing to risk them using Harpie's Feather Dust or Cosmic Cyclone on it before they summon).
- Radiance of the Voiceless Voice is another piece of interaction you can put down, in situations where you already have Barrier and are gonna summon Lo. It can either shuffle a Ritual Spell/Monster from hand/GY to summon a VV monster from your deck, or pop cards up to the number of LIGHT Rituals you control (at the cost of destroying itself). It's a potent Trap card, though I wouldn't run more than 1 copy.
- Prayers of the Voiceless Voice is our Ritual Spell, which mostly just operates as a Ritual Spell. It has a second effect when it's in the GY, allowing you to summon our Rituals from Deck if your opponent removes one of your LIGHT Rituals from the field, but this rarely comes up in my experience.
- Diviner of the Herald and Trias Hierachia are run as a supplementary package to increase consistency. Diviner can send Trias, which tributes Diviner. Diviner uses her effect to summon Lo, and that's full combo. With Arc Light and N'tss, Diviner is also useful to search a Ritual (if you already have Lo access) or to pop a problem card. 3x Diviner and 1 Trias, you don't need any more. Trias is also useful to protect Lo from being Imperm/Veiler'd.
Rest of the deck is useful consistency boosters and various non-engine pieces. Pick and choose what you feel is best for the given meta.
Extra Deck (not especially important, VV's power is mostly concentrated in the main)
- 1x N'tss and Herald of the Arc Light to send off Diviner's effect, as previously mentioned.
- 1x Chaos Angel, make with Lo+Trias in situations where you need it.
- 1x TY-PHON to bust through boards if needed.
- 1x Underworld Goddess of the Closed World to remove Towers-type monsters from the field.
- 3x Dyna Mondo, because it's kinda a crazy card for Ritual strategies in general (and this one in particular, allowing you to theoretically loop Lo if you're willing to risk a Called By destroying the entire strategy, in certain board states).
- 1x Lyna and Dharc Charmers, in case it comes up.
- 1x Knightmare Phoenix to pop problem Spell/Traps.
- 1x. S:P Little Knight because she's the best Link-2 in the game.
- 1x Salamangreat Almiraj, Linkuriboh, and Secure Gardna. Just... random Link-1s, really. Maybe replace one of them with Linguriboh to allow an easy out to Iblee? They have never come up for me thus far.
And of course, here's our 1 card combo off Diviner/Lo (Skull Guardian+Lo+Barrier on field, 4 cards in hand plus whatever you searched):
- (note, this step, and all other italicized steps, is optional if you opened Lo) NS Diviner of the Herald. Activate Diviner's effect, sending Tiras Hierarchia.
- Trias Hierarchia effect, tributing Diviner to summon itself.
- Diviner effect when tributed, summon Lo.
- When Lo is summoned, activate her effect and place Barrier of the Voiceless Voice.
- Activate Barrier's effect, adding Saffira, Dragon Queen of the Voiceless Voice
- Saffira effect, sending Prayers and adding Skull Guardian, Protector of the Voiceless Voice.
- Activate Saffira's GY effect, tributing Lo to Ritual Summon Skull Guardian.
- CL1 Skull Guardian, CL2 Lo (actual order doesn't technically matter, your opponent should have used Ash/Gamma well before now if they had it). Skull Guardian should add a Sauravis (Ritual if you didn't use any other Spells this turn, Dragon Sage of the Voiceless Voice if you used a Pre-Prep or a Called By earlier in the turn.
- (If you have a second Spell to shuffle back for Sauravis, Dragon Sage) Activate VV Sauravis to summon him, adding another layer of interaction.
- End your turn after setting relevant Spell/Traps.
