Vaylantz Wakaushi

If you cannot afford S:P Little Knight, replace it with Knightmare Unicorn and replace Borrelsword Dragon with Accesscode Talker. This is because you want to play Accesscode alongside a dedicated going-second Link-3, and without one, Borrelsword is easier both to make and use.

"Wakaushi is a Level 4 Pendulum Tuner that Special Summons itself while putting an 8 Scale into your Pendulum Zone. In one sentence, Wakaushi solves nearly every outstanding issue with the deck. It gives you the high scale you desperately need in both itself and General Coral, and can be used to make Baronne alongside Nazuki, which you already use in the typical opening combo.

Most of what makes using Wakaushi difficult, confusing, and frustrating for newer Vaylantz pilots comes down to either managing Coral as a card or general inexperience with zone management. In the case of both Wakaushi and Coral, one of your scales is locked once they’ve been used unless you prepare a dedicated way to clear it. This causes newer players to make mistakes early on in their turn without realizing it, resulting in a cascade of issues that culminate in a weak end board...

In my opinion, this is not only the hardest variant of Vaylantz, but also generally one of the hardest decks in the game. This is the version that appeals to the hardcore Shulk mains, Asuka R# mains, Chess and Shogi players. However, I also believe it has the highest ceiling and sentimental reward. Successfully piloting this variant consistently requires a seasoned player with a breadth of card knowledge who is knowledgeable about relevant rulings and interactions. You’re not normal summoning Pachy and passing. You have to play the game."
