"I personally believe that the Fossil Dyna floodgate build is a great pair of training wheels for those attempting to learn the deck. It gives you a clear win condition and combo line: Summon Granite, add Pachy, normal and protect Pachy. This familiarity and linearity allows newer players to focus on developing an intuitive understanding of the archetype.

Regrettably, the simplifiers that make this build good for beginners is also what makes it suffer the most from hand traps. Avramax + Pachy is actually one of the deceivingly strongest boards this deck can produce when left uninterrupted, but also leaves you dead in the water to a myriad of interruptions and board breakers. 

This is why I believe that Fossil Dyna should eventually be abandoned once a player has a rudimentary understanding of the axis on which this Vaylantz operates. The weaknesses of the Granite combo turn from a crutch into a shackle that inhibits player growth, both within the archetype and in general."
