My take on true draco for 2023. With enough hand traps and stun cards I feel confident going first or second with this deck. Pretty straightforward deck people are familiar with but ill throw all my tips in. Use skill drain and summon limit to lock your opponent out if you go first, ash blossum and infinite impermanence for interruptions if your going second, monarchs stormforth is also great for going second. Tribute off their monster to summon yours. Remember you can use your traps to tribute summon on your opponents turn, tribute the trap itself to destroy a monster on their field and bring yours out, or combine with stormforth on their turn to tribute their monster away and bring yours out. If you set up with Maiden and atleast one True trap youll be able to add dinomight to the hand and summon him on your opponents turn; Tribute the maiden, bring Dinomight out to pair with the trap and use his effect to bring the second trap out (whichever one you didnt start with/already have). True King's Return can bring Maiden back to use as cost to activate True Draco Apocalypse (Wait until opponent declares attack to activate Apocalypse) and halve all your opponent's monster's attack.
Dinomight is key, setting up with him and bringing true king's return and true draco apocalypse out becomes a devastating combo that you can keep looping. Metaltron works great with skill drain if you tribute traps and monsters for his summon, great immunity and if he does get destroyed you bring out any of your extra deck monsters that fit the situation (if skill drain is on board i suggest Barbaroid, if no skill drain is active then look at crystal clear wing synchro dragon, icejade, or the superheavy samurai. Baronne De Fleur is also an option for the extra deck but i left her out to keep the price of the deck down and theres better options here in my opinion.
Lord of the Heavenly Prison can help you get your field spell, use his effect to set Terraforming then activate next turn to grab Diagram.
Fossil Dyna synergizes great with the deck. I was deciding between him and Thunder King Rai-Oh. I felt he was perfect, he adds more stun power. People may be able to play around him but some decks might seriously struggle if you open up with him and any other interuptions.
For the side deck I put Lancea at 3 to deal with kashtira, harpie's feather duster and lightning storm if you go up against heavy backrow, and dimension shifter can also come in handy at times against some decks. Solemn judgement is for protection, lord of heavenly prison and solemn can protect you against harpie's feather duster or lightning storm, your weakness here will be if your opponent tries to wipe your backrow. Cosmic cyclone is for Runick decks.
Favorite combos of mine: Skill Drain, True King's Return, and True Draco Apocalypse with a monster on board and a true draco in grave. You'll lock most people out with this one.
Metaltron on board with monster and trap immunity from summon, and your field spell on board is a strong combo, especially if you have skill drain or summon limit on board. He'll be att 3300 ATK/DEF, survives battle destruction once per turn, and if your opponent does manage to attack him twice and destroy him youll get one of your powerful extra deck monsters out. Note: Metaltron can be immune to trap monster and spells if you use one of each for tribute, but then he will also not benefit from the field spell. Keep that in mind.
Final words: You could also drop Metaltron and the extra deck completely and run eruption of the monarchs and even possibly domain of the monarchs, but i like it this way. It's a fun deck to play, your opponent gets forced to play the game your way and youll be responding to almost every move they make to build up your own board. I also run this on masterduel with almost the same build (soul drain at 2 and skill drain at 1 for that) and its lots of fun. Wrecks Tearlament decks if you play it right, which is very satisfying.
