To War!
Deck Primer
A War Rock deck I've had average success with. Primarily against decks that rely on the Battle Phase. Don't have much of a problem out pacing them in that sense but if your opponent is more of a manipulative/combo or stun deck... well... you're going to have to make your own side deck for that. I usually run this deck when I'm in a fightin' mood and it's to battle or be doomed trying. Fortia is key to be on the field at first fight and getting in direct with Bashileos is key to winning. If you find hitting in direct with Bashileos is what your main win is then you can run three.
I recommend keeping some dice on hand to track the number of times you've increased your monsters by 200 as I often found myself with 4 to 5 on board and it helps to keep track which increment of 200 you're at because the two Big Boys are quick effects that activate before the damage step and the others activate after damage calculation.
Another strategy is to use Orpis to get Skyler or Meteoragon into the grave and summon them with War Rock Spirit as they have no built in easy summon effect like the others. Despite playing this deck a fair bit I still can't decide on the ratios of Mountains, Spirit, and Dignity and the traps. If you're going against a combo deck with lots of monster effects run more Dignity since its not a once per turn. If they also blow up your stuff a lot during the main phase maybe run more Big Blows. You can take out Twin Twisters if they're not running back row but some of my game wins were disrupting backrow and hitting in for game. It can also facilitate a Warrior to grave for Spirit.
The side deck really is just an ongoing ratio tester. I've never actually purused making it into a proper side deck. (I play on a very small budget)
Quaking Mirror Force can be swapped out for anything but I've found it really good if my opponent actualy makes a board stronger than mine I flip them all face down and attack into them on the next turn so the opponent can't activate any grave effects (or effects in general since they're face down) they might have before they end their turn.
I haven't faced any of the newer decks/threats with this deck since I haven't used it in a while and I play in a very casual format where no one uses cards over 20$ so I have no clue how well this deck runs against stuff like that.
Final notes, the extra deck is more of a situational thing that you restort to in desperation. (the link monster is more there just for that 500 ATK boos in a pinch and I rarely use anyone but Gandiva or Excalibur for big damage) Or that's at least how I found it. War Rocks really like each other being on board and hit hard with their own effects (and ATK) as is so I rarely find myself going into the extra deck. Probably another reason why I lose so much but I play on a tight budget so this is what I use. A very cheap deck and fun to play if you like going to war. Yugioh does feel less about the battle phase and more of a build up the board for one hit kill so maybe it's out of date. If you have any modern success with it I'd love to hear it in the comments.
