12 years ago, I left YGO after dealing with nonsense decks like Blackwings and Six Samurai. I was tired after playing through the early years of the game, and wanted something different. After convincing from some friends, I decided to finally return to paper YGO. I've played Traptrix on Master Duel (simply because they're a control deck that revolves on Trap Holes, some of my favorite old cards. The last deck I played was an Ordeal of the Travelever bounce deck, so the theme seemed to fit my style), and was looking to try them in an actual game. I was shocked to find out budget friendly the deck was, and decided to grab a few structure decks and other cards and craft a budget brew. So...here we are! I plan on taking this to a few locals and seeing how I hold up!
Traptrix aren't a new deck, so it's pretty simple to explain: use the bug/plant girls alongside powerful traps to control your opponent and eat them. Sera is the foundation of the deck, as the main search tool that procs every time you do almost anything. Your main deck stuff has effects on Normal Summon, while Pudica & Myrmeleo are strong removal pieces on Special Summon. The basic gameplan is to go first, then Summon Sera and hopefully Rafflesia. Then, just grind them to nothing and unleash the girls in a barrage of biological brutality.
Since the best staples cost hordes of money, I decided to try some more budget friendly options. Lost Wind is the poor people's Imperm, and C.E.D. is a funny way of getting past destruction protection. We splash in plenty of strong Trap Holes, but the best are Floodgate & Gravediggers. I unfortunately felt immensely pressured to getting Ash & Droll, and coughed up the necessary funds for it. Evenly comes with the Structure, and Phantom Knights trap is a 4th Holeutea if necessary.
The side deck is more Holes for certain matchups, and a mix of good staples (Kaiju, Solemn, Harpie's) with more main deck traps if certain ones do better in the matchup.
Let me know if you have any advice, especially strong budget options! I'm still relearning the game, and probably am unaware of certain powerful cards!!
