This deck isn't very good. I'm creating/uploading it as part of a series where I examine as many Krawler builds as I can and try to create some interesting/unusual decks with them. This particular build uses the new Vernusylph cards, an archetype which sends to the GY and then special-summons Earth monsters sent by the previous effect, in addition to another effect (card search, send from deck to GY, draw 1 card). Their boss monster, Vera, the Vernusylph Goddess, can steal an opponent's mon on your turn and revive an Earth monster on the opponent's turn, as well as provide a monster-negate if you control 5 or more Earth monsters.
Vernusylph doesn't mesh particularly well with Krawlers. Krawlers like to be flipped from a face-down position, and Vernusylph summons them face-up on the field. Subterror, on the other hand, have no problem being summoned face-up, and sometimes even prefer it (in the case of Subterror Fiendess or Guru). Also, since Vernusylph lock you into Earth effects for the rest of the turn, it is difficult to go into the UDF line with Krawler Soma (usually requiring Ghostrick Angel of Mischief's activated effect). So, what does this deck do? Mostly, I think it proves that Krawler does not benefit from Vernusylph support, and is even hurt by it, while also showing how Subterror benefits from the same partnership. I will be creating a Subterror-Vernusylph list later to highlight this deck theory, but for now I'll explain the choices in the main and extra decks.
Main deck, we want to include as many big bunguses as possible. Vernusylph can cheat out all of the Subterror Behemoths, as well as Deus X-Krawler, though the later is much less effective as it needs to be flipped up to activate its effect. I cut Guru and Fiendess to 2-a-piece, as we have other ways of searching/summoning our Subterror mons. We're running a minimal Krawler package, because we are often summoning cards face-up, but we still benefit from Soma. If we send and revive Soma using a Vern card, we can activate its effect to summon 2 other face-up cards. Then, if we normal-summon a monster face-up, we can link off our board into Saryuja Skull Dread, Apollousa, or Avramax (after making 2 link-2s). We're on 3 Sol and Luna and 3 World Legacy Pawns, mostly there for the benefit of the Krawlers in the list. The Hidden City is at 3 here, as we can search the Behemoths to dump and revive with Vern cards. We're running most of the Vernusylphs in this list. Flourishing Hills and Flowering Fields are exeptional at protecting our face-up monsters, and Vera is a fantastic boss monster. In the extra deck, we have Gallant Granite and Bagooska, which can both be made with Vernusylph/Guru/Soma. Most of the other cards are Earth, so we can still make plays under the Vernusylph lock. Curious is a good turn 2 play if we have a board already set up. The extra deck is not where I want it to be, though, and I'm still experimenting.
Thats most of the thought process behind this list; as I said previously, I'm not very happy with the list, but perhaps someone will find something of value here or take away inspiration for their own build. Thank you for your time, and I hope you have a great day!
