Spellcaster enjoyers rejoice!
This deck contains the Spellcaster Archetypes
- Magistus,
- Invoked,
- Dogmatika,
- Magicians' Souls,
- Shaddoll and
- one Dharc ... so also Spirit Charmers :)?
Anyway, there are multiple going first options in this deck. The main ones are Zoroa, the Magistus of Flame, Terraforming, Magical Meltdown, Aleister the Invoker, Nadir Servant, Infinite Impermanence and Kashtira Fenrir. Having Access to your draw Engine with Illusion of Chaos and Magicians' Souls going first is also great!
Going second we have Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Effect Veiler, Infinite Impermanence, Triple Tactics Talent and Kashtira Fenrir.
The Magistus Engine
Zoroa, the Magistus of Flame is powerful card that shines brightest during grind games, but also allows you to shut down your opponents important extra deck monster effects during turn one (if you know what you are up against), by equipping itself with Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden, Special Summoning an Aleister the Invoker, Dogmatika Ecclesia, the Virtuous, Crowley, the Magistus of Grimoires or searching for Crowley, the Magistus of Grimoires with the effect of Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden and Special Summoning him by sending a Spellcaster from your hand or field to the GY, Synchro Summoning Zoroa, the Magistus Conflagrant Calamity and equipping itself with the relevant Magistus Extra Deck Monster.
Crowley, the Magistus of Grimoires can also banish itself from the GY to equip Zoroa, the Magistus Conflagrant Calamity with Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden to deny access to Link Monster effects. You can also choose to hold on to Crowley, the Magistus of Grimoires's GY effect to re-equip the actually needed extra deck Magistus Monster.
If you don't know what you are up against, it's best to go the Invoked route - which you will be able to do more often anyway.
Don't forget: Zoroa, the Magistus Conflagrant Calamity can also Special Summon himself from the GY by destroying a Magistus Card in your Spell/Trap Zone. Even if you rarely Synchro Summon Vahram, the Magistus Divinity Dragon, you should remember his board wipe ability on destruction. However, I have never XYZ Summoned Ninaruru, the Magistus Glass Goddess.
Fun Fact: Crowley, the Magistus of Grimoires is an out to Gozen Match as it can change its own Attribute to the Attribute you need to keep on playing. Most of the time it will be Fire or Light.
Deck Synergies:
- After searching with Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden, you can send her to the GY with Magicians' Souls to draw one card.
- If you open with Zoroa, the Magistus of Flame, Invocation and Aleister the Invoker you can end on Zoroa, the Magistus Conflagrant Calamity and Invoked Mechaba or Invoked Purgatrio after 4 Summons with Nibiru Protection.
- Effect Veiler is a Spellcaster that can be sent to the GY to Special Summon Crowley, the Magistus of Grimoires. It is also a Level 1 Tuner that theoretically allows you to use it and Kashtira Fenrir to go into Zoroa, the Magistus Conflagrant Calamity if you somehow bricked and can make the call, that Zoroa, the Magistus Conflagrant Calamity would actually be better than Kashtira Fenrir on the field and Effect Veiler in the hand.
- You can also use Invocation to Fusion Summon Aiwass, the Magistus Spell Spirit which can take control over an opponent's monster.
The Invoked Engine
With 7 Starters for this Archetype, you will more often than not open with this. Going first you can almost always guarantee having access to Invoked Mechaba by Link Summoning Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden with Aleister the Invoker.
Use Invoked Mechaba to hit their key card activations. Keep in mind that you can't negate the effects of continuous Spell/Trap Cards or Field Spells - only their initial activation. The upside is, that the negation banishes and is once per copy. So if you control two Invoked Mechaba you can use the effect of each copy to negate cards during each round.
Invoked Purgatrio is your going second / grind game beatdown Boardbreaker who benefits from cards like Book of Eclipse in the Side Deck.
The Invoked Engine has a pretty straightforward but rewarding play style if you manage your resources (mostly hand cards for negates).
Deck Synergies:
- Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden, Effect Veiler, Dogmatika Ecclesia, the Virtuous, Dogmatika Fleurdelis, the Knighted and Crowley, the Magistus of Grimoires (after changing his own Attribute to Light) can be used as material to Fusion Summon Invoked Mechaba if your opponent doesn't have Light Monsters in his GY.
- Salamangreat Almiraj, Zoroa, the Magistus of Flame, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Crowley, the Magistus of Grimoires (after changing his own Attribute to Fire) can be used to Fusion Summon Invoked Purgatrio if you opponent doesn't have Fire Monsters in his GY.
- After Fusion Summoning, you can send Magical Meltdown to the GY with Magicians' Souls to draw one card.
- If you have no other option, you can send Aleister the Invoker to the GY with his own effect to guarantee a Dark Monster in your GY for Fusion Summoning El Shaddoll Winda with Shaddoll Schism.
The Dogmatika Engine
Next to Kashtira Fenrir, Nadir Servant is probably the best card in this deck. It allows you to search for Dogmatika Ecclesia, the Virtuous and Dogmatika Fleurdelis, the Knighted from Deck or GY, set up your El Shaddoll Winda Lock or pop a card with Elder Entity N'tss. If used after already accessing your Extra Deck, the restriction doesn't bother you at all.
It is an over all strong Archetype that doesn't really rely on the other Archetypes to shine.
Deck Synergies:
The Magicians' Souls Engine
Deck Synergies:
The Side Deck
You should always keep an eye on the current meta for the Side Deck.
However, Nibiru, the Primal Being for going second and Summon Limit for going first hit a wide variety of meta and rouge decks in a lot of formats. If you find yourself being locked by your own Summon Limit, you can send it to the GY with Magicians' Souls to draw one card. After turn one, you rarely summon more than twice.
Going first I usually side out Effect Veiler for Summon Limit or/and Dimensional Barrier (mostly against Branded).
Powerful Opening Hand Going First
Kashtira Fenrir, Magical Meltdown, Zoroa, the Magistus of Flame, Invocation and Nadir Servant
You end on Zoroa, the Magistus Conflagrant Calamity, Invoked Mechaba, Kashtira Fenrir, Dogmatika Ecclesia, the Virtuous, Shaddoll Schism and in hand have Kashtira Fenrir + Dogmatika Fleurdelis, the Knighted (or a set Dogmatika Punishment)
That leaves you with 2 Monster Negates, at least one Type of Extra Deck Monster Effect blocked from activation, Schism Destruction, Winda Lock, Banish facedown after Monster Effect activation.
