As an exercise, I'm looking at Zexal characters and deriving what their decks might have looked like at the dawn of the XYZ era (Assuming that card release order still mostly resembled our own). Now, Generation Force drew heavily from Shark's episode 1 deck (or vice versa), but there was still some empty space to fill. The two main options for filler were the "Generation Fish" series, with their self-banishing, or bringing in some very old normal monster beatsticks. While Shark's first signature XYZ monster, Submersible Carrier Aero Shark, was nerfed to synergize with the former, I felt with his personality he'd be more inclined to use the latter - he needs some cards that don't have anti-synergy with Aqua Jet.
As part of the exercise, this deck uses no cards from later than Generation Force. But if anyone has any thoughts about other cards or strategies better suited to the era, or sees something else I missed, feel free to comment. Remember that Synchros are unavailable, as Zexal tries to pretend those don't exist.
