The Tenyi and Swordsoul are powerful archetypes whose core cards can be obtained by completing the Rookie and Returner Mutual Follower Campaign! Completing the campaign twice will give you two Sword of Souls Structure Decks + Swordsoul Sinister Sovereign - Qixing Longyuan as a bonus; what a great start! Mastering this deck will teach you the basics of modern Yu-Gi-Oh!
Staples to craft
This amazing monster can negate and destroy almost any card, destroy another card on the field for free, and shuffle herself back into the deck to revive a monster in your graveyard. She's very easy to summon with Swordsoul Strategist Longyuan + a Swordsoul token.
A staple for nearly every deck, it gives you free draws whenever your opponent special summons!
It's a blank check for most decks that could also negate Maxx C before it becomes a problem. You can buy Ash Blossom at the shop and the rest can be crafted.
This is a flexible card that not only negates hand traps like Ash Blossom and Maxx C, but also disrupts the opponent's graveyard strategies.
Good when going first and second, this card can negate spell, trap, monster effects depending on whether it was set before activating. Be careful of placing spells and traps in the columns hit by Infinite Impermanence!
This card is great for negating the effect of a card both you and your opponent are likely to have. Ash Blossom, Maxx C, and Infinite Impermanence are commonly played!
This intimidating card is easy to summon, cannot be destroyed by a card effect, is searchable with Swordsoul Emergence, and has a devastating effect that destroys and restricts the attributes of monsters both players can special summon. It cannot destroy itself by its own effect, so you can use it to lock out dark monsters for free!
It's another flexible card whose effects can be used multiple times in a turn. The first effect is great for dismantling boards. The second effect can destroy a card you control to revive a monster like Swordsoul of Taia or Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous from your graveyard to extend your plays.
It can clear boards like Baxia but through destruction. It can destroy itself and 1 card your opponent controls. If it is destroyed, then you can special summon a wyrm like Swordsoul of Mo Ye or Taia from the deck to extend your plays. You can synchro summon Yazi by changing your wyrm monster's level with Swordsoul Emergence's banish effect.
The Tenyi Cards
They can be obtained for free during the campaign, but crafting them is faster.
Optional Cards to Craft
These are good cards for disrupting your opponent. You can buy 1 of each at the shop.
It's nearly unstoppable when you're low on life points. Incredible Ecclesia + Tenyi Spirit - Vishuda or Tenyi Spirit - Ashuna or Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring + a level 8 synchro can summon it.
You can summon Chaofeng in an advanced combo involving Ashuna + Swordsoul of Taia + Vishuda or Tenyi Spirit - Adhara; more on this later. In short, it can create a combo line that prevents your opponent from activating the effects of light monsters like Nibiru, Centur-Ion Primera, or Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice.
She can destroy annoying cards like Nightmare Pain and S:P Little Knight. Triple Tactics Talent is a good alternative to this card that you can also buy at the shop.
It allows you to draw 2 cards and power up Swordsoul Supreme Sovereign - Chengying to new heights.
He can't be obtained during the campaign, but can be crafted. He's a level 8 synchro wyrm that requires generic materials to synchro summon and has great effects. He can be summoned under your Ashuna's and the opponent's Clockwork Night type locks!
Her effects are useful for reviving a spent wyrm and destroying a card your opponent controls whenever your Monk of the Tenyi or token attacks or is attacked.
The Chaofeng Combo Example
Requires Swordsoul of Taia + Tenyi Spirit - Ashuna + Tenyi Spirit - Adhara or Tenyi Spirit - Vishuda in your hand. This combo example will assume you have Vishuda in the hand, so Adhara would later be special summoned from the deck with Ashuna's effect. You can use this combo to protect your Swordsoul plays from Nibiru, the Primal Being with minimal investment.
1. Activate Ashuna's effect to special summon itself from the hand.
2. Use Ashuna as link material for Monk of the Tenyi.
3. Activate Vishuda's effect to special summon itself from the hand.
4. Activate Ashuna's graveyard effect to special summon Adhara from the deck. This will lock you into special summoning only wyrms for the rest of the turn.
5. Synchro summon Baxia, Brightness of the Yang Zing by using Vishuda and Adhara as material. The opponent must Nibiru here or on step 6, or its effect won't activate.
6. Activate Baxia's effect to revive Adhara from the graveyard by destroying Monk of the Tenyi.
7. Synchro summon Chaofeng, Phantom of the Yang Zing by using Baxia and Adhara as material. Now the opponent can't activate light monster effects, and you can start your Swordsoul plays.
8. Normal summon Swordsoul of Taia.
9. Activate Taia's effect to summon a token by banishing Monk of the Tenyi from your graveyard.
10. Activate Adhara's graveyard effect to add Ashuna from the banish zone back to your hand.
11. Synchro summon Swordsoul Grandmaster - Chixiao by using Taia and the token as material.
12. Activate Chixiao's effect as chain link 1 and Taia's effect as chain link 2. You can send any wyrm to the graveyard and search for any Swordsoul card you'd like.
Any wyrm you send to the graveyard can be banished with Taia and recycled with Adhara. If you search for Swordsoul Strategist Longyuan, then you can use the Ashuna in your hand as fodder. If you search for Swordsoul Emergence, then you can use it to search for Archnemeses Protos.
