I'll add combo lines when I get more time in the future, as well as match ups from locals and card choice descriptions.
This is my experimental list for Unchained. I think I've settled more on this rather than Live Twin Unchained due to being able to play a ton more non engine. Deck can go first or second fairly easily. The deck plays an interactive role being able to put up a large series of pops and linking off your opponents monsters, albeit it is low on negates and can struggle game one with back row decks. I think it's a tier 2 or rogue contender in this meta.I often lose die rolls, so I've included Dark Ruler No More in the main, and am tempted to add in Evenly Matched or maybe Radian/another Kaiju main, but if you want to go for a more always going first build feel free to swap the Dark Ruler No More main for the Nibirus in the side. The deck can OTK when going second fairly often, however some of our cards like Dark Ruler and Prosperity interfere with that.
The following cards are things I'm looking to possibly edit the deck with.
Monsters:
- Radian, The Multidimensional Kaiju: Is most likely better than The Winged Dragon of Ra Sphere Mode as it's both a fiend and doesn't take your normal, but I personally like tributing more monsters on my opponents side and have a playset of German Sphere Modes I wish to play. Probably exchange Sphere Mode for these or even Lava Golem for not only slightly better but more budget.
- Abominable Unchained Soul: I could see the argument for one more of these, especially for going second. It isn't too bad of a brick but I wanted to stay at an even 40 and this card was the last one to cut. Feel free to cut a Pot of Prosperity for this.
- Droll and Lock Bird: Might be a good add instead of Ash Blossom of Joyous Spring, however I personally prefer Ash against the decks I see more often (including Branded).
- Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion: Might be good just for the Bystial Dragon Link and Kashtira matchups. Needs more testing.
- More Knightmares: I can very well see people playing more Knightmares like Knightmare Pheonix or Knightmare Gryphon, however the fact they are not darks hurts Unchained Soul of Rage and Unchained Soul of Anguish. I can very much see the argument for a 2nd Knightmare Unicorn over these however.
- Divine Arsenal AA-Zeus - Sky Thunder: Might be good if you wanna lean more into the D/D/D extra deck stuff. I would play him at 1x or 2x if I added in D/D/D Stone King Darius, but as of now I am not.
Traps:
- Mistake: The ability to be a Droll and Lockbird that we can play around quite easily and pop with our own cards if need be. Might be playable main if you want to do a dedicated going first strategy, but probably better as a sideboard card.
- Torrential Tribute: Possible good going first card, especially in response to something like Dark Ruler No More. Is a normal trap so Trap Trick and Trap Tracks can easily search it. May be good for a going first build with those in the main deck.
- Trap Trick/Trap Tracks: Both would be very interesting for a dedicated going first build as they can search any of our main deck traps like Infinite Impermenance, Escape of the Unchained, or Abominable Chamber of the Unchained or something such as Torrential Tribute or Evenly Matched if we wanted them main. It could also lead to a different sideboard of more utility normal traps, but we'd need 2 of each at minimum which is tight. I'm not sure which is better, as Trap Tracks has a higher ceiling as it lets us pop our unchained monsters, but it can sometimes be dead with an empy board compared to TrapTrick. These packages however would probably cause the list to go to above 40 main deck.
Spells:
- Dark Hole: Really good for a going second strategy or even maybe for just general sideboard use. The fact it can also trigger all of the monsters death effects is quite nice as well. I didn't include it due to having enough going second cards (in my opinion) but feel free to experiment.
- Raigeki: Same as above, however a little weaker as it doesn't pop our stuff which is honestly a downside to it.
- Wailing of the Unchained: Its an interesting card and might be good as a one of to search of Abomination Prison, but it feels a little niche. Still, it is always in my considering board.
- Triple Tactics Thrust/More Triple Tactic Talents: Both of these are mainly not here as they are expensive and I only have one Triple Tactics Talents, however if budget was not a factor I would run 3x Triple Tactics Thrust and 2x Triple Tactics Talent main with more one ofs of cards we run at 3x like Dark Ruler No More.
- Crossout Designator: Again a meta call. If you're getting hand trapped a ton this may be a good consideration main deck. If so, I feel having a bunch of one of hand traps in the sideboard or other hatecards might be a good way to avoid them. Maybe cut the a Pot of Prosperity and Triple Tactics Talents if you wanna go to x2 of this. I think it's much better for a going first build.
