This is a variant on the pure Magician decklist I posted a while ago with the new MAMO cards. I was watching an MBT video and he talked about Kali Yuga being a worse Azathot because rank 7s are more clunky to deal with than rank 4s and that gave me a thought. I had a look through the rank 7 pool for generic dark monsters and found exactly one that fits the bill of being able to detach two materials on turn one without running (more) main deck garnets. Voloferniges, the Darkest Dragon Doomrider lets you detach two to pop a face up card and if he has a dragon as material its a quick effect (but we don't care about that). Ideally you want to pop a copy of Double Iris Magician in order to get the search off while also ideally triggering an Astrograph/Starfrost, Star Pendgraph, or both. You can also use the effect of Absolute Dragon to summon Odd-Eyes Rebellion Xyz Dragon (or any of the rank 7 Odd-Eyes) straight out of the extra deck. It is preferable to use Voloferniges so that you can back that Kali Yuga up with a Vortex Dragon but I've included both options for first turn flexability at the cost of a valuable extra deck slot.
Once you have a Voloferniges or Xyz Rebellion Dragon without material you just need to set the Rank-Up-Magic from the deck with Rusty Bardiche who's pretty easy to make. I did play around with Silent Boots rather than Doomed Soleret as the PK garnet because you can then banish him to grab a Fog blade as a backup negate in case the Rank-Up-Magic gets negated but I decided that was a little win-more and the advantage of Doomed Soleret is that if you open him you can just special him out to search the Rank-Up-Magic and then use him as material for Beyond the Pendulum of Override Dragon. Previously when I was testing with Silent Boots you would need to extend into Ignister to spin back the boots and then send with Bardiche which sucked and was generally terrible.
The deck is generally still bricky because you need 2-3 engine cards minimum to make plays and a fair few combinations of engine cards just do absolutely nothing on their own (think DA, Star Pengraph, and Harm). The central game plan is to summon Horoscope or an Astrograph in order to make a pre pend summon Beyond or Override so we're playing loads of ways to search that.
There are two copies of Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon because if you end on Exceed the Pendulum you can revive a Starfrost Magician from your grave in your opponents main phase which can then fuse itself with the Vortex on field to make a second Vortex and trigger its bounce as well as dodging Droplet or Imperm if need be.
The extra deck is extremely tight, so much so that I am considering siding some extra deck cards, like Zeus, TY-PHON, etc, to swap in for the Kali Yuga BS when you know that you're gonna go second. I'm not all too married to the other side deck cards, Duster and LS are reporting for duty to help overcome my fear of floodgates and solemns. When you know you're going first Judgement is just good for DRNM, Evenly, Droplet, etc and Dragon's Mind is just another three Solemns because you typically end on at least one, possibly multiple monsters with exactly 2500 original ATK.
The handtraps are just the good ones, Fuwalos because its the best Mulcharmy and we only really have the space for one of them, Ash to kill other peoples Mulcharmies, and Droll because its just a good high impact one that unlike Nibiru you can keep to use when going first. Mulcharmies (other than Meowls enjoy your one draw lmao) are super scary so the Ashes help but Called by and Triple Tac are there for backup, I was playing Crossout but it just feels bad because it doesn't even work against Purulia for us so its basically another called by but only for Fuwa, Ash, and Droll which is maybe worth playing but the amount of non-engine is really pushing Magicians about as far as they can manage while still actually doing something most of the time.
To the three people who actually read this somewhat silly late night ramble, please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions because I love this pet deck to bits and can't wait to get my grubby little mitts on the physical copies of Horoscope, Starfrost, and Unicorn Parallel.
