I enjoyed Sayer as a character in 5D’s and I enjoyed playing 3-axis Psychic Synchro when I still played Duel Links like 4 years ago. But I have to admit that Overmind Archfiend is one of the cards with the worst material requirements that I have ever experimented with. Overmind Archfiend is the Level 9 monster that we are looking at today. It is a Level 9 DARK Psychic Synchro Monster that requires a Psychic Tuner monster and 2 or more non-Tuner Psychic monsters as Synchro Material. As a soft once per turn, it can banish a Psychic monster from your GY. And when it leaves the field, it Summons as many of the monsters that were banished by its effect. And this effect to Summon does not miss timing because it is mandatory. Usually I would have no issue with Synchro Monsters that require 2 or more non-Tuners as material like Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier or Mist Wurm because they are fairly generic and actually have pretty good effects that you can use. And then you have the ones that aren’t generic like Archfiend Zombie Skull, Chaos Goddess, and the Nordic Gods. But they have cards that actually help you to Summon them like Pain Painter for Archfiend Zombie Skull, Chaos Witch for Chaos Goddess, and the numerous ways that you can immediately cheat out the Nordic Gods or the many different ways you can put out a bunch of monsters to Synchro Summon them. Overmind Archfiend has none of these things. It was released in Crossroads of Chaos which debuted Psychic monsters like Silent Psychic Wizard, Serene Psychic Witch, Hushed Psychic Cleric, Psi-Beast, Mental Seeker, and Esper Girl. I think that these cards were supposed to work with Psychic Feel Zone which was also released in the same set and they do banish Psychic monsters to set up Feel Zone, so you could use it to possibly cheat out Overmind Archfiend, but we have no use for an unsearchable card in Psychic Feel Zone. Now, Overmind Archfiend’s effect isn’t terrible. In fact, if you have an Overmind Archfiend on field and a properly summoned Overmind Archfiend in GY, you can have the one on field banish the one in GY which will then Summon it back after it leaves the field and since it is a soft once per turn on its effect, you can keep looping the 2 Overmind Archfiends over and over. In a world where I would be able to consistently Synchro Summon 2 Overmind Archfiends turn 1, I would definitely be doing this. But we live in a godless world where that god was replaced with the infernal hive mind that told Konami that it was a good idea to give Overmind Archfiend the worst Synchro Material requirements in existence. Just like how Thought Ruler Archfiend was Sayer’s ace monster, we need to play the neo-Sayer cards to be able to summon Overmind Archfiend with the help of the P.U.N.K. monsters. Noh-P.U.N.K. Ze Amin is our Psychic-Type Tuner of choice and we can search for Psychic Tracker with P.U.N.K. JAM Dragon Drive which is a free Summon from hand as Psychic non-Tuner after Noh-P.U.N.K. Deer Note Special Summons Ze Amin back from GY. We need the help of Overdrive Teleporter to get us to Ze Amin to start our P.U.N.K. combo and get our second Level 3 non-Tuner Psychic to make Overmind Archfiend.
The deal with Overdrive Teleporter is that it cannot be Special Summoned, so we need to Tribute Summon it. We could play Brain Research Lab for an extra Normal Summon of a Psychic monster, but Emergency Teleport is at 3 and we are playing Instant Fusion in this Deck for Master of Ham already. Our goal is to get to Mereologic Aggregator and all you need for that is Normal Summoning Overdrive Teleporter. But let’s say that we want Bibliomuse access as well, so let’s throw in World Legacy Monstrosity into the mix. That makes our starting combo consist of Emergency Teleport, Overdrive Teleporter, World Legacy Monstrosity, and an additional card in hand to send to GY for Foxy Tune. Again, we don’t necessarily Monstrosity for our combo, but if we want Bibliomuse, we do need it. E-Tele for Ze Amin from Deck. Tribute Ze Amin for Overdrive Teleporter. Pay 2000 to Special Summon Ze Amin and Psychic Tracker from Deck. Ze Amin pay 600 LP to add Noh-P.U.N.K. Foxy Tune from Deck. Activate Foxy Tune in hand and send a card in hand to GY to Special Summon Noh-P.U.N.K. Deer Note from Deck. Synchro Ze Amin and Deer Note into P.U.N.K. JAM Dragon Drive. Chain Link 1 JAM Dragon Drive, Chain Link 2 Deer Note in GY, Chain Link 3 Ze Amin in GY. Ze Amin boosts Dragon Drive, Deer Note Special Summons Ze Amin from GY, and Jam Dragon Drive adds another Psychic Tracker from Deck to hand. Special Summon Tracker from hand and Synchro Ze Amin and your 2 Psychic Trackers into Overmind Archfiend. Overmind banishes Ze Amin from GY. Link Overmind Archfiend and JAM Dragon Drive into I:P Masquerena. Overmind mandatory triggers upon being sent to GY to Special Summon the Ze Amin you banished. Synchro Ze Amin and Overdrive Teleporter into Cloudcastle. Cloudcastle on Synchro Summon Special Summons Overmind Archfiend back from GY. Now, if you didn’t have Monstrosity, you would just Xyz the two of them into Aggregator, but we are going with if we had Monstrosity in this instance here. Monstrosity target Overmind to get Prediction Princess Bibliomuse and Deus-X Krawler from Deck. Xyz Deus-X and Cloudcastle into Aggregator who sends Herald of the Arc Light from Extra Deck to GY to search for Prediction Princess Tarotrei, reattach Herald from GY, and Link Aggregator and Overmind Archfiend into Sky Striker Ace - Camellia. Herald triggers again to add Underworld Ritual of Prediction. And the rest is just the same Prediction Princess combo. Is this good? Not in the slightest. There are plenty of other Prediction Princess variants that I have combed through that can either do much more in a much easier fashion or they simply are able to access the whole Prediction Princess combo with much easier consistency and success. Like I didn’t even need to visit Li Shuwen since I am already bleeding from all orifices from building this Deck.
For the Main Deck Monsters: 3 Prediction Princess Tarotrei, 1 Prediction Princess Tarotreith, and 3 Prediction Princess Bibliomuse. Tarotrei can Quick Effect flip a monster on field face-up or face-down and she can Special Summon a Flip Monster from hand or GY face-down during your End Phase. Tarotreith must either be Ritual Summoned or Special Summoned via Tarotrei's effect in the End Phase. Her Flip Effect Special Summons a Flip Monster from your Deck face-downn and she can also Quick Effect flip any number of your monsters face-up or face-down. Bibliomuse can Special Summon herself back face-down after being Tributed and sent there. Her Flip Effect adds a Prediction Princess monster other than herself and a Ritual Spell from Deck to hand and while she is face-up on the field, your Ritual Monsters gain targeting and destruction protection from your opponent’s card effects. 1 Deus-X Krawler which negates all activated monster effects on your opponent's side of the field after it has been flipped face-up and if it is destroyed on field, you can search for a Level 9 monster with a different Type and Attribute. 1 Pot of the Forbidden which has a Flip Effect that lets you choose between Drawing 2 cards, returning all Spell/Traps on the field to the hand, destroying all monsters your opponent controls, or looking at your opponent's hand and shuffling a card from it back into the Deck. For the P.U.N.K. monsters: 2 Noh-P.U.N.K. Foxy Tune, 2 Noh-P.U.N.K. Deer Note, and 3 Noh-P.U.N.K. Ze Amin. We are not playing Ogre Dance because we don’t need to necessarily search or open a P.U.N.K. monster in specific. We are getting to Ze Amin off of Overdrive Teleporter for your whole P.U.N.K. combo either way. Foxy Tune can send itself and another card from hand to GY to Special Summon a P.U.N.K. monster from Deck except for a Level 8 monster. Deer Note can reveal itself and another P.U.N.K. monster in hand to Special Summon 1 of them and send the other to the GY. This does get a monster onto the field that you can Tribute to Tribute Summon Overdrive Teleporter, but you are going neg-1 if you do this and it hurts even more if you have to Small World to do anything with that hand also. But, we are mainly using Deer Note for its other effect which is that if it is sent from field to GY, you can target a P.U.N.K. monster in GY except for a Level 5 monster and Special Summon it. Ze Amin pays 600 LP to add a P.U.N.K. monster from Deck to hand and if it is sent to GY, you can target a P.U.N.K. monster you control to have it gain 600 ATk. This ATK gain effect is actually pretty useful for Chain Blocking either Deer Note or Dragon Drive. 3 Overdrive Teleporter which cannot be Special Summoned and can pay 2000 Life Points once while on field to Special Summon 2 Level 3 Psychic monsters from Deck. This card is miserable to set-up and it has a huge target on its back to be handtrapped, but you gotta do what you gotta do to make Overmind Archfiend. Finally, 2 Psychic Tracker which can be Special Summoned from hand as an inherent Summon if you control a Level 3 monster other than Tracker once per turn. And if it is used as Synchro Material, that monster gains 600 ATK. You are going to be using both Trackers in your combo, but you need at least 1 in Deck to get off of Overdrive Teleporter.
Spell/Traps: 1 Instant Fusion for Master of Ham and you can also use that Master of Ham to Tribute Summon Overdrive Teleporter. 3 Underworld Ritual of Prediction which Ritual Summons a Prediction Princess Ritual Monster from hand or GY face-up or face-down and you can banish it from GY during the Standby Phase to Special Summon a non-Ritual Prediction Princess from Deck face-down. 2 Prediction Ritual which specifically Ritual Summons Prediction Princess Tarotrei and you can banish it from GY except during the turn it was sent there in order to search for a Prediction Princess monster. 3 Pre-Preparation of Rites. 3 Small World. 3 Pot of Prosperity. 3 World Legacy Monstrosity which either Special Summons a Level 9 monster from hand or targets a Level 9 monster you control to Special Summon 2 Level 9 monsters from your Deck with a different Type and Attribute but with different names. Finally, 3 Emergency Teleport which Special Summons a Level 3 or lower Psychic monster from Deck, banishing it during the End Phase.
Extra Deck: 1 Master of Ham which Special Summons a Flip Monster from hand or Deck face-down on Fusion Summon. 1 Cloudcastle which Special Summons a Level 9 monster from GY on Synchro Summon. 1 Overmind Archfiend. 1 P.U.N.K. JAM Dragon Drive which, if Synchro Summoned or Special Summoned by the effect of a P.U.N.K. card, you can pay 600 LP to take a Level 3 Psychic monster from Deck and either add it to hand or send it to GY. And if your opponent activates a card or effect in response to your P.U.N.K. card or effect activation, you can Special Summon it from GY. 2 Herald of the Arc Light which searches a Ritual Monster or Ritual Spell from Deck if sent to GY. 2 Mereologic Aggregator. 1 Laevateinn, Generaider Boss of Shadows and 1 Jormungandr, Generaider Boss of Eternity. 1 Underworld Goddess of the Closed World. 1 Sky Strike Ace - Camellia. 1 S:P Little Knight. 1 I:P Masquerena. And 1 Gravity Controller.
Side Deck: 2 Nibiru, the Primal Being, 3 Thunder King, the Lightningstrike Kaiju, 2 Gizmek Kaku, the Supreme Shining Sky Stag, 3 Dark Ruler No More, 2 Lightning Storm, and 3 Evenly Matched.
