The main concept of the deck is simple, keep the game going until you have the card called Magical Merchant on the field. This card has a simple Flip ability, which is that when it is flipped face-up you reveal cards from the top of your deck until a Spell/Trap card, then place the rest of the cards in the GY. This card is simple in just text alone, because what do you do when you Mill your deck, you need to know have a way to win. Even before that, what happens if you don't draw Magical Merchant your opening hand... Simple, delay, control, and search. Many decks in Edison format have a simple way to keep being reliable, which means a skilled pilot must be present for the deck to run well, now I am not the most skilled, or even the best pilot for this deck, but I have fun using the deck to have more of a explosive, usaully definitive win.
Break Down of the deck...
First the delay portion of the deck
Cards such as Battle Fader and Cyber Valley. These cards simply delay a battle phase, stop it, and then gain advantage, unfortunatly it can't be a bigger package, since for the deck you want to find the Merchant before the opponent develops a board to stop you.
Second the Control portion of the deck.
Cards such as, D.D. Crow, Ryko, and Cyber Dragon. Now these control the opponent by stripping them of recources, we want the opponent to waste their larger removal tools to stop the aggression and to allow the plan to go through. D.D. Crow, strips any deck that uses DAD, or any other graveyard tricks to not be able to use them or stop the reallocation of those recources. Ryko gets rid of Monsters in the way, and even acts as removal in a pinch, preventing damage to pilot as much as possible. It removes most things that also control this deck as well. Finally Cyber Dragon, this card simply just removes other monsters and attract removal, this deck would rather not have the Merchant removed, so having the opponent hit the Dragon is a must.
Finally the Search and Win Portion.
Cards such as Machina Gearframe, Witch of the Black Rose, Scrap Recycler, and Super-Nimble Mega Hampster. All of this cards search either for another piece of the deck, so the control portion, or the win con itself. (Which is Machina Fortress, Gallis the Star Beast and Cyber Eltanin in addition to the merchant.) Machina Gearframe searches for the other parts of the Machina engine, so the Fortress or Force. Scrap Recyler can trade in used or milled copies of the Machina engine to generate more cards, and even on normal summon, dumps the Fortress to the GY for us, which if needed allows the deck to work without being entirly dependant on a good mill, or specific cards to be milled. The Witch of the Black Rose, allows for the deck to have a reliable way to keep drawing deeper, allowing the spells to the grave keeping deeper mills, or searching deeper for any part of the deck, granted this is not a direct search but it does allow for cards to go even on advantage. The Super-Nimble Mega Hampster serves two purposes, there are only a select few cards in the deck that depend on flipping, which is Ryko and the Merchant, so the opponent will most likely want to remove the monster and not attack blindly into face-down cards. The second purpose is to search and dig for Ryko, which allows for even more removal of cards that hurt the game plan of a mostly monster deck.
The win con of the deck relies on many factors, which is why the deck has multiple ways to win and refresh the deck. The deck does have a glaring weakness, which is drawing the game too long after milling, and then dying due to drawing empty. So there are many ways to force keep cards returning to the deck, and keeping the pilot alive. One of the ways the pilot stays alive is there being two spell cards, so if one gets milled early, you can try again, and second, you are not as likely to mill the entire deck and die before the pilot gets a chance to win. The two spell cards used are Pot of Avarice, which given milling most of the deck not only allows a refil on reliable forms of damage, it also allows the deck to plan a win, the pilot must keep track of what cards are in the deck to ensure even after the win con is attempted, that they can continue with more follow-up. The way to win with Pot of Avarice is to keep filling the deck with high level monsters, only if however, the card Gallis the Star Beast is hand. Gallis allows for the Pilot to keep revealing and milling more high level monsters to burn the opponent out. If Gallis is not in hand and the Machina Fortress is milled, then the high level machine monsters can be shuffled back to ensure the Fortress can keep coming back and placing pressure. The best way to win though is Cyber Eltanin, which turns all the monsters milled, if there is enough, to a win. The Eltanin allows the board to be cleared of monsters and places extreme amounts of pressure to instanly close out a game, although it will be a target of Solemn Judgenments and Bottomless Trap Holes.
The Sideboard is last and it is the hardest to manage based on expierence in the meta and what decks the pilot is expected to face, most of the sideboard is removal and control tools, the deck will remove some of the win-con and search elements to focus on removal of issues. Cold Wave and Ultimate Offering allow the pilot to block out counter play and sometimes, allow for card advantage on opponents turns. Monsters such as Ancient Gear Soldier allow the pilot to force the game win and allow for the game to be shut out during the battle phase and stop the opponents delays.
In Conclusion...
There are some cards I did not mention and those, function similarly to others in the deck, which allows for different plays and more sideboarding efforts without causing the deck to have as many weak points. The deck is very weak to very early aggression, and will have terrible match ups into Frog Monarch along with heavy removal and control decks. Which does not mean an auto lose, but can cause issues if unprepared for the situation. The decks strengths can be early game control, into a near unavioble win. Once a wincon loop or attack is established the deck just takes over games.
Thank you to any pilots that have left public deck lists and spear headed this stratgy, including Federico Mercuri and TimPontes, both deck lists and my local games shapped this deck to what it is now.
Note: The Extra Deck does shift depending on the meta and locals, you may pick whatever cards suite the local scene and meta! This is why it is not included.
