Angelechy Mitsurugi
In my previous decklist for Angelechy/Mitsurugi, I had struggled to determine a way to bridge from the Mitsurugi engine to the Angelechy cards. I had originally believed it may be possible through a rank 4 XYZ, but it turns out it is through a link and fusion: Reprodocus and Magistus Chorozo.
Here is the combo (Note: steps 1-9 cover typical Mitsurugi combos, so you can skip to the bridge at step 10 if you are already familiar)
1. Begin Mitsurugi combo by normal summoning Aramasa; Aramasa effect to add Habakiri
2. Habakiri summon Saji and tribute Saji; Saji effect to add Mitsurugi Ritual to hand
3. Activate Mitsurugi Ritual to summon Habakiri from hand by sending Kusanagi and Night Sword Serpent from deck to gy
4. Chain 1 - Kusanagi to add Ritual to hand; Chain 2 - Night Sword Serpent special summon itself
5. Activiate Mitsurugi Ritual to summon Murakumo from deck by tributing Habakiri
6. Habakiri effect from being tributed to add Prayers from deck to hand and special summon itself
7. Activate Prayers and tribute Murakumo to add Mitama to hand and special summon either level 4 monster in grave to the field
8. New chain Murakumo effect from being tributed to add Mirror to hand
9. Use Mirror to ritual summon Mitama using Habakiri (!!! Important this is done now since the ritual spell needs Reptiles and we will be changing monsters on field to spellcasters soon)
Summary:
Board: Aramasa / Mitama / Murakumo / Night Sword Serpent / lvl 4 Mitsurugi (either Saji or Murakumo) [5 monsters]
DIVERGENCE FROM TYPICAL MITSURUGI COMBO STARTS HERE!!!
10. Link summon Reprodocus with Aramasa and Night Sword Serpent
11. Activate Reprodocus effect to change monsters on field to spellcaster
12. Special summon Magistus Chorozo with its effect by sending Reprodocus and Murakumo (could use Murakumo earlier in step 10, but better to keep the negate online as long as possible)
13. Synchro summon with Chorozo and the lvl 4 Mitsurugi on board into Nullgainer
14. Nullgainer effect to add Witness of the Ancient to hand
15. Special summon Witness of the Ancient and activate effect to set Angelechy Bastion and Destrier to backrow. Summon lvl 2 token
16. Chain 1: Bastion to place Shatranga in back row; Chain 2: Destrier to add Anglechy Problem to hand
17. New Chain: Shatranga add Angelechy Disturbance to hand
18. Activate Angelechy Problem
19. Activate Angelechy Problem's effect by discarding Disturbance to special summon Angelechy Enlisted and set an Angelchy Enlisted to backrow (you could run a second Destrier instead of the second Enlisted; however, things never go perfectly and I'd rather have a second Enlisted in the event I use Opening to E4 as a handtrap)
20. Synchro Kewl Tune B2B using Angelechy Enlisted and Witness of the Ancient
21. Activate Nullgainer's effect to summon back Witness of the Ancient
22. Special summon Ultimaya Tzolkin with Nullgainer and Witness (both level 8)
23. Activate Disturbance in the GY to banish itself and add Opening to E4 to hand
24. Set Opening to E4 to the field
25. Chain Ultimaya Tzolkin to summon Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon (***summon to Extra monster zone. You want at least 1 free space in main monster zone for a quick synchro thanks to B2B)
FINISHED
(Edit: there are plenty of other combos and I've found the one that starts with Habakiri->search Saji-> Saji add Prayers is even more effective than the combo above. Will eventually add other combo lines.)
Board Recap:
Monsters
1) Kewl Tune B2B (***Most important part of endboard! Why? Because you can use B2B's effect to special summon Angelechy Enlisted from the grave and then quick synchro into a lvl 10 synchro using Enlisted and Crystal Wing (or a Mitsurugi). Important reminder to use Crystal Wing's monster negate first AND summon lvl 10 to Extra monster zone so Mitama can summon Murakumo from grave)
- Alternatively, instead of quick synchroing a lvl 10, you could go for a level 4 by using Enlisted and the leftover token. Potential options are: Toxic Boxfish (banish card in either GY on summon + negate card on field if banished), Merry Melffys (return an opponent's card to hand on summon), Poplar of the White Forest (enables quick synchro to climb to a lvl 12, but extra deck space is limited as is)
2) Crystal Wing (Monster Negate)
3) Mitama (special Murakumo from gy to destory opponent's board and gives a potential negate from Murakumo)
4) Tzolkin (body)
5) lvl 2 token (would love to link Tzolkin and the token for Masquerena, but by this point you are locked to synchros)
Backrow:
1) Shatranga (limit opponent to 5 monster effect activation attempts per turn)
2) Bastion (protect other Angelechy monsters)
3) Destrier (burn opponent for 500LP for every effect)
4) Enlisted (nothing. it is honestly clogging up the backrow but extra deck space is limited. Since Angelechy Problem is still on the field, you can use it to special Enlisted to the board in the event one of your other Angelechy monsters is removed.)
5) Opening to E4 (dead card. Needed to set it to activate Tzolkin. If you have another spell/trap in hand like Tempest or Prayers, they are better options) ****If you you add Prayers to hand instead of Ritual with Saji, the combo allows you to end on Mitsurugi Great Purification (omni-negate).
So, for 1 card, you get:
1) disrupt your opponent's synchro/xyz plays by modulating their levels by 2 + quick synchro (B2B)
2) 1 monster negate (Crystal Wing)
3) possible omni-negate/opponent discard (Murakumo)
4) destroy opponent's board (Murakumo)
5) lock your opponent to 5 monster effects per turn (Shatranga)
6) burn your opponent for 500LP for each activation (Destrier)
7) protection for Angelechy backrow (Bastion)
8) 3 body blockers (Tzolkin, token, Enlisted summoned from Problem)
9) Omni-negate (purification)
Extra Comments:
- Rciela and Elzette are options you can include for the event that you have the field spell or opened with Opening to E4 and have the level 2 tuner on field already. They are basically insurance if you want to go through a lvl 6 synchro isntead of the above play. Not necessary and may be worth cutting for 1 more extra deck slot, but I'd like options for getting my plays going if I'm disrupted. (Update: After playing this deck at locals and drawing Elzette in my opening hand 5 of 6 games, I decided to cut Rciela for Chaos Angel. I now believe you should only run Rciela + Elzette if you are running x3 Angelechy Problem and x1 Terraforming.)
- originally was running imperm as a handtrap, but have since cut it. Backrow space is limited as is so it can end up being useless. Better to use Ghost Belle or Veiler)
- Edit: I originally listed Crystal Clear Wing Synchro Dragon in this deck, but have since realized it is actually not possible to summon it. I was mistakingly believing that Crystal Wing would qualify as its requirement of a non-Tuner "Clear Wing" monster. Obvious in hindsight, but my apologies. I have listed some alternate lvl 10 options below:
1. Chaos Angel or Satellite Warrior are options that can work going first, second, or during later turns. With this combo, Satellite Warrior would at least have 2 pops when quick synchro'd.
2. Ruddy Rose is another alternative and you get some synergy with Tzolkin if you run original Black Rose Dragon. This should be a last resort however, since it would blow up all your Angelechy backrow.
3. Stardust Warrior is another option as a summon negate.
4. Bystial Dis Pater is possible through Crystal Wing and Enlisted
5. Swordsoul Chenying was ultimately chosen since it does not have any material restrictions. Sure, Dis Pater is a stronger card and is online thanks to the combo banishing Angelechy Disturbance, but having an alternative option in the event the full combo is interupted is more valuable.
6. Black Winged Assault Dragon is a very good side-deck option if you lost game 1. This card reduces the amount of effects needed to burn your opponent to death (From 8 to 5).
7. Stardust Chronicle Spark Dragon is another option since it could theoretically let you use Crystal Wing's negate effect twice. Here's how: 1) use Crystal Wing's negate, 2) B2B special Enlisted and quick synchro into Stardust Chronicle, 3) use Stardust Chronicle's effect to banish Crystal Wing from grave to become unnafected by effects, 4) if your opponent tries to run it over by battle, Stardust Chronicle's effect activates to resummon the banished Crystal Wing. Since Crystal Wing's negation is a soft once-per-turn, it is reset after it is summoned again. Crystal Wing would then have a negation and its battle trick online to increase its chances of surviving the turn. My hesitation for it is that if you are forcing the opponent to the battle phase after the full combo, you are probably already winning anyway. (Correction: actually, this wouldn't work since Crystal Wing wasn't summoned properly. Tzolkin's summon effect isn't treated as a synchro summon so I don't believe Crystal Wing can come back from banish/gy)
8. You could also go for a 12 instead of a 10 with B2B since you'd have Crystal Wing (8) + Enlisted (2) + Token (2) = 12. I've looked and the best options are Snake Eyes Vengeance Dragon, Geomathmech Final Sigma, or Centurion Legatia. Not the best options, but it does free up the space that the token was taking up so you can have an easier time using Mitama to bring mack Murakumo. You could technically go for Crimson Dragon, but then your only target would be B2B for a 10, which you could make anyway. All of the lvl 10 dragon options you could choose are either already available or not quite worht it. The only other new and actually good option is Crystal Clear Wing Synchro Dragon (spell negate and unnaffected by monsters), but I have a feeling that there is not enough space in the extra deck for it to be worth it. You'd have to give up Chaos Angel and Chenying, which while doable, feels a bit "win more." I'd rather have the other 2 as options in case I am disrupted instead of this stronger play that has to have the combo performed perfectly.
- Cyberse Contract Witch should probably be included in the starting extra deck and not the side deck, but it is very difficult to determine what to cut. It really helps in the situation where Habakiri is Ash'd. If you can get 2 material on board, you can go into Contract Witch, add Ruler of the End of the World, and then use its effect to use Mitsurugi Ritual to either tribute Habakiri from hand to get its search effect or summon Habakiri from hand by sending material from deck.
- My only complaint is the main monster zone getting a bit clogged. I'd really like to find another way to use the token or get Tzolkin off the field after it summons Crystal Wing, but you are synchro locked after Witness of the Ancient. The easy answer is using Witness and the token for a lvl 10 and then use Nullgainer and Enlisted to summon B2B. The issue then becomes what lvl 10 do you use that has a disruption that can be used and remain on field so you can quick synchro it with Enlisted into a lvl 12. OR do you use use Witness + token + enlisted for crimson dragon, bring back witness with Nullgainer to go for tzolkin/Crystal Wing and then use Crimson dragon to bring out a level 8? I'd rather not since this deck is not really made to make lvl 8's so if this combo doesn't go off, it's a brick in the extra deck.
However, here is the best I found: Tzolkin + Crystal Wing + Crimson Dragon -> CD effect tarking crystal wing to bring out "Stardust Dragon - Victim Sanctuary" from Magnificent Monsters. It gives you an omni-negate to any card you opponent activates in response to your cards and it has a gy quick effect to summon any Stardust monster from extra deck (options are Stardust Warrior, Stardust Chronicle Spark Dragon, Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon, or classic Stardust). Sifr Divine Dragon meshes best with the playstyle of locking down your opponent from doing anything, but I'd say Chronicle Spark Dragon is another very good choice since it makes your board very sticky. It forces your opponent to run it over by battle, and if they do you can bring back the new Stardust Dragon VS or Crystal Wing if they removed it first. My only issue is that it takes up 3 extra deck slots.
