*UPDATED FOR THE MARCH 2026 ADJUSTMENT*
I'm a little late to the party with the Primite cards, but Magikey have been one of my favorite architypes since they came out. Really love playing them with the upgrades now.
Let's go over the ratios. Magikey World and Mafteal are obvious 3-ofs, as is Ether Beryl. I recently put Maftea down to 2, which feels insane, but the Primites give you more options and it's very searchable, so it feels fine here (Roar just went through the same change after the update).
I feel like running less Normal monsters than this kinda loses a key part of the decks identity. I know cutting the vanillas and adding Fiendsmith cards is popular, but it just doesn't feel like a Magikey deck to me at that point. Recently though, I had pointed out to me that you can just side out one that aren't relevent to the deck you're playing against and replace them with Unexpected Dai. It makes Game 2 much more precise that way. The non-pointed 1-ofs are very good, but very searchable cards that you hopefully don't need more than once.
The pointed cards are simple. I used to run Ash Blossom, but after their point spike cutting them made room for a second Lordly Load. Then just "good stuff". Ghost Ogre can get backrow, which we do have a problem with, and Mourner is personal preference but I like her.
Hope this is interesting to you. I love this deck, and I wanna try and perfect it!
