Welcome to my Edison Format Lightsworn deck! This build focuses on pure aggression while maintaining the massive stability needed to survive the critical early game.
Core Strategy
The main goal is to quickly load the Graveyard with different Lightsworn names using our mill engines and defensive walls. Once the setup is complete, we clear the way by flipping -Royal Decree to shut down backrow, allowing us to safely drop our boss monster, -Judgment Dragon.
Key Interactions & Combos
The Hamster-Ryko Engine: Setting -Super-Nimble Mega Hamster is arguably the best Turn 1 play in Edison. It directly sets -Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter from the deck, providing immediate defense, spot removal, and a crucial 3-card mill to ignite our Graveyard.
The Plaguespreader / Wulf Trick: -Plaguespreader Zombie is an incredible Tuner that also fixes bad hands. If we draw the dreaded "brick" -Wulf, Lightsworn Beast, we can use Plaguespreader's effect to place Wulf on top of the deck. Then, we immediately mill it with Ryko, -Card Trooper, -Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress, or -Charge of the Light Brigade to Special Summon Wulf for free!
Anti-Trap Synergy (Decree + Reincarnation): Running 2 main-deck copies of -Royal Decree completely shuts down the format's heavy trap lineups (like Bottomless Trap Hole or Dimensional Prison). Because of Decree, we run -Monster Reincarnation instead of the standard Beckoning Light to recover JD or -Honest. The discard cost is actually a benefit, letting us pitch dead Wulfs or -Necro Gardna directly to the GY.
The Book of Moon / Ryko Trick: A classic, high-IQ Edison interaction. If the opponent attacks our face-up Ryko, we can activate -Book of Moon targeting our own Ryko. Since the number of monsters on our field hasn't changed, a replay does not occur and the attack continues. Ryko is then flipped face-up during the Damage Step, triggering its powerful Flip effect in a window where the opponent is legally restricted from activating most responses!
Ultimate Survival: A massive defensive package including 3 -Threatening Roar, -Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, -Tragoedia, and -Necro Gardna ensures we survive the early game. Threatening Roar specifically protects our Hamster/Ryko setups so we can combo off safely on our turn.
Optimized 44-Card Ratio: Running 44 cards is highly justified in Lightsworn. It dilutes the chances of drawing our GY-reliant cards (Wulf, Necro Gardna), gives us a larger buffer against decking out from our own mills, and keeps our deck thick enough to ensure our 3 -Solar Recharge are always live.
Feel free to test it out and leave any suggestions in the comments!
