Trying to craft a Ben Kei OTK deck that uses a part of the Infernoble Knight engine to search for equips. One major issue I've been running into though is actually figuring out how to search Ben Kei. The solution doesn't seem very promising / just seems like I need to draw to get Ben Kei + all the necessary components. Also Infernoble Knights are a super versatile equip engine but feels like they're best at dumping and searching for Noble Arms or FIRE warriors which Ben Kei is not.
Update 1: Took out clarent because the bamboo sword draw engine makes this deck go CRAZY. Infernoble -> Bamboo sword is wild in terms of draw power. Wish there was a better way to extend into ben kei tho. Maybe try including some searchers? Maybe figure out some ways to retrieve more stuff and more quickly from the graveyard (Ex. Swords at Dawn).
Update 2: Re-focused deck on ben kei. Added back in Clarent for consistency since needing a 2-card combo to attack directly with bamboo is a little more fragile. Added in Small World + Freed the Matchless General so I could go from my fire warriors -> Freed -> Ben Kei. Works pretty well and in a pinch if you can summon Freed then you can just use his ability to search Ben Kei during your regular Draw Phase.
Update 3: Main combo for this deck is just to start up the draw engine:
- Ogier/Foolish Burial of Goods -> Dump Cursed Bamboo Sword -> Get Golden -> Attach a new Bamboo Sword via Bradamante or get the one you dumped with Renaud.
- Get Ben Kei (or mataza as backup) by drawing into him or using small world and his equips (Clarent or Cursed Bamboo Sword, Mage Power or Psychic Blade for power boost, Power of Guardians for protection). Attack directly for an OTK.
- If you draw Freed you can also combo him with Small world to go Freed -> 1-star Fire warrior -> Ben Kei. Or just use him to search up Ben Kei directly if you can tribute summon him.
- Deck has basically no backrow removal or counters for hand traps lmao you're just counting on Power of the Guardians to save your ass.
Update: Plays alright, can usually get a second turn OTK if the first turn you start up your draw engine with
Ogier -> Dump Cursed get golden -> Start up Draw Engine
Ideal Sequence is:
1st turn - Ogier + Renaud + Cursed + Original -> Attack directly and board wipe.
2nd turn - Ben Kei + Equips for OTK.
Too many card requirements and not enough paths to get all of them for an FTK usually. Might experiment in the future with adding in Museum of Noble Arms / Glory of the Noble Knights as openers. Might also remove a small world because sometimes it's a brick if I draw two.
Ironically, I think using Mataza might be easier because Mataza + 3 equips can get me an OTK but I could probably remove power of the guardians if I used Mataza which would thin the deck out a little more.
This deck is still kinda fragile because there's pretty much no back-row removal so it really is banking on speed and being able to OTK your opponent before they have time to get up and running but was fun to build and test.
Update 5: Play tested on Dueling Nexus, works "alright" but as janky as you'd expect from a Ben Kei deck in today's era of dueling. Turns out you can't use Ogier to dump cursed bamboo (woops) so I've been using Oliver instead and pretty much just preying I end up with a bamboo sword in hand. I think using Glory of the Noble Knights would probably help and perhaps also noble arms museum? Also turns out you can't use bradamante to directly equip psychic blade and pay life points to trigger it's effect so might be worthwhile to decrease that down to one and add more mage power or a Gallatin or something, maybe a Moon Mirror Shield to help Ben Kei stay alive? Also apparently power of the guardians doesn't add it's first counter before a chained mirror force resolves so I would add more back-row removal in the future lol.
