Power: Low Rogue (5.8/10) - This is much cleaner and fully TCG-legal, but it stays Low Rogue because the true metal cards are still theme-first payoffs. Metalmorph, Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon, Zoa, and Metalzoa give the deck its Joey identity, while Skill Drain, Trap Trick, Fang with Chain, and the Red-Eyes engine make it playable at casual rogue tables.
Consistency: Better than the old version. Black Metal Dragon, The Black Stone of Legend, Red-Eyes Insight, Cards of the Red Stone, Pot of Extravagance, and Trap Trick all help find either the Red-Eyes half or the trap half. The metal bosses are trimmed down so the deck still shows the gimmick without drawing too many tribute-only hands.
Ceiling: Moderate. The strongest boards are Red-Eyes bodies backed by Metalmorph, Red-Eyes Fang with Chain, Skill Drain, Solemn Judgment, Torrential Tribute, or Trap Trick. Red-Eyes Slash Dragon and Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon give the deck real pressure, while Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon and Metalzoa are the anime-style payoff turns.
Recovery: Fair to solid. The Black Stone of Legend recycles Red-Eyes Black Dragon, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon revives Dragons, Red-Eyes Spirit brings back a key Red-Eyes monster, and Monster Reborn gives one flexible reset after the first board is answered.
Going first/second: Best going first. Set Trap Trick, Metalmorph, Fang with Chain, Skill Drain, Solemn Judgment, or Torrential Tribute, then force the opponent to play through awkward battle math and trap interaction. Going second, the side deck brings Dark Ruler No More, Evenly Matched, Twin Twisters, Cosmic Cyclone, Nibiru, and Artifact Lancea.
Choke points: Stop Red-Eyes Insight before it loads the graveyard or searches the trap line, remove the monster targeted by Metalmorph before it matters, banish Red-Eyes Black Dragon before Spirit or Black Stone can recycle it, or clear Skill Drain before the big metal bodies become simple pressure pieces.
Key cards: Metalmorph, Rare Metalmorph, Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon, Zoa, Metalzoa, Black Metal Dragon, The Black Stone of Legend, Red-Eyes Insight, Trap Trick, Red-Eyes Fang with Chain, Skill Drain, Red-Eyes Slash Dragon, Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon.
Key combos: Metalmorph can equip to Red-Eyes Black Dragon and unlock Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon. Metalmorph can also equip to Zoa for the classic Metalzoa line. Trap Trick sets Metalmorph, Fang with Chain, Red-Eyes Spirit, or Torrential Tribute depending on the matchup. Insight sends a Red-Eyes card to search Red-Eyes Fusion or Red-Eyes Spirit. Fang with Chain turns a Red-Eyes monster into a removal threat by stealing an opponent's monster as equip material.
