I continue to attempt to do something with Infer/Noble knights for a tournament, but here I have a bit more restrictions - namely, I have to have an even 25/25/25/25 split of Normal Monsters, Effect Monsters, Spells, and Traps. So that's the reason I'm forcing myself to run the Card Knight and E-Hero normal Mons. I've chosen those specifically because, fun fact, apparently Burstinatrix is the only non-Pend Normal FIRE Warrior monster in the game. And because the tournament has a rule about Normal Pend monsters counting as spells for the purposes of the even split, I've resorted to having the others be LIGHT Warrior monsters instead. Aside from a few Spells/Traps and Monster Effects that fuck with Monster Types, this shouldn't be prove important and I just went with being thematic. Otherwise, this deck focuses mostly on getting Immortal Phoenix Gearfried out on field, then just using him as a wall, cannon, and and also for taking hostages. It is surprising just how many otherwise invincible cards this man can just shove into Equip Spell Prison. Additionally, if Gearfried is already on field or is somehow unavailable, there's also the other Synchros I can use, such as Infernoble Knight Emperor Charles, Ignoble Knight of High Laundsallyn, and even Swordsoul Supreme Sovereign - Chengying if I'm feeling frisky. And finally, if I somehow brick up but get a couple Normal Monsters in hand, Link Spider + a Normal Monster into either Rasterliger or Ferocious Flame Swordsman is also a serviceable strategy that may buy me time.
Also regarding the name, the "Zen Star" part is a reference to the game VA-11 Hall-A, where one of the drinks is called a Zen Star - a drink that consists of an equal amount of every ingredient, sporting the description "You'd expect something so balanced to taste good. You'd be wrong.". So yeah, describes this deck pretty well.
May RNJesus have mercy upon my wretched soul.
