UNLEASH MAI'S HARPIES!
Harpie Lady is a very underexplored archetype in goat format. Today I'd like to bring my take to the table and will make a detailed primer describing all of my decisions. I hope you enjoy it!
The very first card is Harpie Lady Sisters. Harpie Lady Sisters can be special summoned off Elegant Egotist which is a free special summon. Her stats are decent, being able to beat over 1900 ATK beat sticks as well as having 2100 DEF, being able to also provide a decent defensive wall if needed.
Next we have Harpie Lady 1. She is another standard inclusion that can boost other wind monsters ATK by 300. We include two of her to help fuel the Elegant Egotist special summon as well as boost our bird swarm.
Harpie Lady 2 is our other Harpie inclusion, helping negate flip effect monsters when destroyed by battle. She can searched out by Birdface and Flying Kamakiri if needed.
Silpheed is a great inclusion in any wind deck. His effect to force your opponent to discard a card when destroyed by battle is crazy. If your opponent wants to dodge this effect, they'll be forced to use another card to get him off the field.
Birdface is another staple of Harpie decks, being able to search out any of them when destroyed by battle.
Flying Kamakiri #1 is yet another floater in our deck. It can search out a whole mess of other Wind monsters in the deck. A great target is often Lady Ninja Yae , or Hand of Nephthys .
Lady Ninja Yae is an extremely great card in any Wind deck. Her effect is basically a walking Giant Trunade. If the Sisters are bricking, you can pitch them to activate this effect and summon Silpheed with said discard.
Twin-Headed Behemoth needs no introduction. While it fits in nicely as a Wind type, it's also just an all-around great card to have as a free special summon.
Our Sacred Phoenix can be summoned off of Hand of Nephthys . This card is an exceptional beater that essentially forces your opponent to use a banish effect to get rid of it.
The other two non-engine cards are Breaker the Magical Warrior and Sangan . These are just no-brainer staples to include in the deck. Next I'm going to get into a few of the spell and traps (I'm only going to discuss the relevant non-staples to save you some reading).
Triangle Ecstasy Spark is a comfortable one-of in the deck that can be used to close out games. If your opponent is low on life points, this will give you a sure-fire method to finish them off.
Harpies' Hunting Ground is another great card in your playbook. Not only does it give you an ATK boost, but can also pop a back row card every time you summon a Harpie. The only thing to keep in mind is that this effect is mandatory, so be careful when you summon your monsters.
Finally, we arrive at the last in-engine card: Elegant Egotist. This can be used to special summon a Harpie Lady while you control another one. This card is crazy as it is one of the few in the format that can special summon FROM the deck.
Every other spell/trap in this deck mostly fall into the staple category, but there are a couple to highlight. Smashing Ground is our card to counter aggro decks - I picked that one over Sakuretsu as we are main decking Royal Decree . Considering Harpies don't utilize any specific traps, I think it fits in very nicely with the deck. It also means we have better odds of using Hunting Ground without having to pop our own back row, since we only run four traps that can set.
The fusion deck consists solely of cheap Wind monsters to act as a bluff as we are never going to use it with this deck.
Finally, I'll cap off this deck with a quick run down of the side deck. We run 1x Spell Canceller as it is Wind type and can be very useful against any spell heavy deck. Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer and Mind Control are both present to counter Chaos. Asura Priest and Tribe-Infecting Virus are present to counter goat control. Lightning Vortex can also be considered a goat counter, but I think it's useful against a variety of monster-heavy decks. 2x Creature Swap make a great fit to side-in if you don't need the Smashing Grounds. It fits in perfectly with this deck, and you can get great results with it in tandem with Birdface or Flying Kamakiri. Poison of the Old Man will give you some extra life points to play with against burn. Considering we already main deck Decree, we don't need to side much for burn. Mirror Force , Ring of Destruction , and Dust Tornado are all present if you decide to swap out Decree for a more traditional backrow setup.
