Dual Avatar is not a particularly good Deck, but when I tested it in Genesys Format, it performed way better than Dream Mirror did. So, that is something, I guess. The biggest issue with Dual Avatar is that it has a really bad time with actually conserving its resources in hand and recurring resources from the GY in addition to their monsters just not being that well-designed. The Deck’s power lies within its Spell/Traps, which aren’t insane in the grand scheme of things, but compared to their monsters, they are pretty much the more powerful elements of the Deck. Because Dual Avatar Invitation is the heart and soul of this Deck, it is relatively very easy to play, even if it doesn’t have any explosive plays it can really make at all to pressure other Decks. I just find it functional, simple, and fun.
While we do lose out on the ability to play Reinforcement of the Army, we can make use of the new TCG exclusives of Disguise, the Copycat Hero and Cursed Copycat Noble Arms. On Normal or Special Summon, Disguise adds Cursed Copycat Noble Arms from Deck to hand. You can then equip it to Disguise and use Cursed Copycat’s effect to Special Summon a Warrior monster with the same Attribute and Level as Disguise from Deck, equip Cursed Copycat to that new monster, and then pop Disguise. Because Disguise is a LIGHT Level 4 Warrior, we can Special Summon Dual Avatar Fists - Yuhi from Deck, who is also a LIGHT Level 4 Warrior. Yuhi is the Dual Avatar Main Deck monster that searches for Dual Avatar Spells, which gets you right to Invitation. But the Traps in the Deck are also very important. Dual Avatar Feet Kokoku searches for a Dual Avatar Trap on Normal or Special Summon, but the main Trap you want to access is Dual Avatar Ascendance. It targets a Dual Avatar you control to destroy it and then Special Summon a Dual Avatar monster from Deck or Extra Deck that is 1 Level higher or lower than the destroyed monster’s Level on field. Kokoku is Level 3, Yuhi is Level 4, Dual Avatar - Manifested A-Un is a Level 4 Fusion, Dual Avatar Feet - Armored Un-Gyo is a Level 5 Fusion, Dual Avatar Fists - Armored Ah-Gyo is a Level 6 Fusion, Dual Avatar - Empowered Mitsu-Jaku is a Level 7 Fusion, and Dual Avatar - Empowered Kon-Gyo is a Level 8 Fusion. Normally, you would want to pop A-Un (which is its only purpose) because it floats into a Yuhi and Kokoku from Deck. But, you can also pop a spent Ah-Gyo for a Mitsu-Jaku and vice versa, or pop a spent Un-Gyo for an Ah-Gyo and vice versa for this as well. You can also pop the useless Kon-Gyo for Mistu-Jaku. But Ascendance is also important as you can banish it from GY to add a Dual Avatar in GY to your hand on a turn other than the turn in which Ascendance was sent to GY.
You want to be seeing both Yuhi and Kokoku at the same time as Yuhi pops himself to search for Invitation while Kokoku acts as your Effect Monster being used for a Dual Avatar Fusion Monster or it acts as your Trap searcher. So in addition to Disguise giving us essentially 3 more copies of Yuhi, we have 3 Fusion Deployment for 3 more copies of either Yuhi or Kokoku, and the same goes for the archetype’s Field Spell, Perfect Sync - A-Un, which searches for a Dual Avatar monster on activation. Spell Card “Monster Reborn” can help us recur our monsters from GY, which is a big issue in this Deck, and it doesn’t matter that we can’t use that monster’s effects or attack with it in the same turn as we can either use it as Fusion Material on the same turn or let it sit until next turn to actually be able to use its effect. And, Spell Card “Monster Reborn” can also act as interruption by taking a monster out of your opponent’s GY and putting it on your field. We are only playing No Pot of Extravagance because we really need all of our Dual Avatar Fusion Monsters in the Extra Deck, and banishing all copies of any of them really does hurt us. I also tested 3 Pot of Greed, but I was drawing it too infrequently for it to be of much help.
3 Dual Avatar Ascendance because it is just really good. But we only have 1 Dual Avatar Compact. It banishes a Dual Avatar Spell/Trap from GY to copy its effect. 8 times out of 10, you are banishing Invitation from your GY to produce more Tokens on your opponent’s turn before allowing you to Fusion Summon some more. Most of the time, Ascendance is just a better card, but this card is still valid enough to be played. 3 Trap Tracks as it can both pop a monster you control and set a Normal Trap from your Deck and make it activatable this turn. Imagine popping A-Un to set Compact from Deck, A-Un floating into Yuhi and Kokoku and then you have Compact to copy Invitation in GY. 3 The Black Goat Laughs because we need to discard off of Invitation, and I would at least like the discard to have another purpose in GY because this Deck needs all the resources it can get.
Kon-Gyo is a really bad card, but we need to play it as a reveal for Fusion Deployment and because there are times where we are somewhat forced to Fusion Summon into it. Mitsu-Jaku bounces all of your opponent’s Spell/Traps to hand on your turn and can pop a monster on your opponent’s field that activates its effect while you control 2+ Fusion Monsters. It’s not good, but it does do something. And it is not that bad since you can Ascendance into this card instead of hard-Summoning it. Ah-Gyo targets and pops an Attack Position monster your opponent controls on Special Summon. It’s not great, but at least it isn’t that bad. Un-Gyo, while you control a Dual Avatar Fusion Monster that was made using an Effect Monster, she can Quick Effect Titanocider a monster your opponent controls that was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck without the ATK drop though. It’s pretty specific, but it isn’t the worst. Also, she can replace your Dual Avatar monster(s) from being destroyed by popping just 1 Dual Avatar monster instead. Manifested A-Un only exists to be destroyed to float into Yuhi and Kokoku. It does gain effects based on if you use either Kon-Gyo or Mitsu-Jaku for its Fusion Summon, but unless you are playing Necro Fusion since you can’t even Heavy Polymerization into it. And of course, we have sends for Ultimate Slayer.
Side Deck is nothing special other than Alpha, the Master of Beasts being here as it works really well with the 3 Evenly Matched we are siding.
