This is my take on Evil Eye, with many additions to make this deck strong going second in the current format. To clarify, the Evil Eye GY monsters are Catoblepas, Familiar of the Evil Eye and Basiltrice, Familiar of the Evil Eye.
These are explanations of some of the non-engine cards:
- Super Polymerization is compatible with discarding your Evil Eye GY monsters and takes down many decks that put at least 2 quick effect/negate monsters on the end board, but unfortunately is weak to different atrributes like Swordsoul. In this deck, it can make either Mudragon of the Swamp, which gives your field targeting protection, Garura, Wings of Resonant Life, which can give you an extra draw or help you otk, or Predaplant Dragostapelia, which can out fusion boards or work if you have 2 Super Polys in hand and give an on-field monster negate.
- Kashtira Fenrir is also a solid board breaker, which can trick opponents into thinking you are playing Kashtira and can bait out negates with the search. It also banishes your opponent's cards when it attacks or your opponent activates a monster effect.
- Triple Tactics Thrust can typically get you access to your Terraforming in order to start your combos, as well as your combo pieces (Evil Eyes Unleashed, Evil Eye Awakening,) Triple Tactics Talent, Pot of Prosperity, or Infinite Impermanence if your opponent doesn't have a monster on field or you already have your combo.
- Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Droll & Lock Bird, and Infinite Impermanence are all strong going first and second cards that stop your opponent's plays.
Some Important things to know when playing (or against) this deck are:
- Droll & Lock Bird, Dimension Shifter, Necrovalley, Abyss Dweller, and similar cards, such as cards that stop GY effects, are strong outs to this deck and its combos.
- This deck typically requires an Evil Eye monster on field to activate most of its effects, so if your Serziel, Watcher of the Evil Eye gets destroyed before you can equip it with Evil Eye of Selene, your combo will either be lackluster or simply stopped.
- My version of the deck runs little main deck monsters and lots of searchers/non-engine, so if you find yourself not drawing your engine much, you can add in more Evil Eye monsters.
Here are some example lines that I use with this deck:
- You always want to start your combo by having access to Serziel, Watcher of the Evil Eye, summoning it and adding Evil Eyes Unleashed to your hand, using Unleashed to send an Evil Eye GY monster and Evil Eye of Gorgoneio to the GY and add Evil Eye of Selene to your hand, and equipping Selene to your Serziel. Depending on what you draw, you can extend further using Gorgoneio and make/break different end boards.
- You can extend with more summons by summoning Basilius, Familiar of the Evil Eye from the Deck with Evil Eye Awakening, using it and an Evil Eye GY monster to Xyz summon The Phantom Knights of Break Sword, using the effect by detaching Basilius to destroy your field spell (Evil Eye Domain - Pareidolia) and an opponent's card, using the destruction effect of the field spell to add Basilius back to your hand, and summoning Basilius from your hand. This can allow you to make multiple Xyz monsters if you can't otk your opponent, such as a potential Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder using the The Phantom Knights of Break Sword and D/D/D Deviser King Deus Machinex by overlaying on top of a D/D/D Stone King Darius.
- You can create more interruptions on your opponent's turn using the GY effect of Basiltrice, Familiar of the Evil Eye. If you leave Serziel, Watcher of the Evil Eye on the field equipped with Evil Eye of Selene, (which is standard in the Evil Combo as you can destroy an opponent's special summoned monster during their turn,) you can use Basiltrice on your opponent's turn AFTER YOU USE SERZIEL TO DESTROY A SPECIAL SUMMONED MONSTER to make either Gorgon, Empress of the Evil Eyed and negate an on-field monster effect or Zerrziel, Ruler of the Evil Eyed and destroy an opponent's card and attack twice on your turn. You can then use the GY effect of Evil Eyes Unleashed in order to equip Evil Eye of Selene to that monster.
These are some potential siding/maining options if you don't like the current list or want to add to it (some are already in deck but you can add more copies):
You can also add a small Unchained package to this deck:
