Devil Frogs
Deck Primer
It seems that TCG Konami is finally listening to us, because on the September 2020 banlist, Toadally Awesome got put to 2, while Block Dragon and Jet Synchron got banned.
Now that one of my favorite control decks is no longer nerfed, allow me to introduce my newest Paleozoic Frog deck titled "Devil Frogs." I picked this name for my deck, in reference to Beelzebufo, an extinct frog whose name roughly translates to "Devil Frog". You might recognize Beelzebufo from the 2017 game Ark: Survival Evolved. And to be honest with you, that name is fitting for this animal, because it was 16 inches long--about as large as a beach ball--and ate baby dinosaurs for breakfast! Oh, and it had horns.
As for this deck itself, it's not that much different from other Paleo Frog decks. It's either go first or burst, set a bunch of cards, and try to summon Toadally Awesome as quickly as possible. Actually, there is one small difference. This deck uses a small Fiend engine. 3 copies of Lilith, Lady of Lament to search out your Normal Traps, and 3 copies of Dark Sacrifice. Dark Sacrifice helps protect your field from any effects that would nuke your backrow. It also sets up your Graveyard by sending a Level 3 or lower DARK monster like, let's say...Absolute King Back Jack?
Absolute King Back Jack and Dark Sacrifice are both good tech choices for Paleo Frogs, since this archetype loses to Harpie's Feather Duster and Lightning Storm. When Back Jack is sent to the Graveyard, you can look at and rearrange the top 3 cards of your deck. And during your opponent's turn, you can banish it from the Graveyard to set a Normal Trap from the top of your deck--and you can activate it on that same turn!!
